Chapter 3: Do you like him?

He put away the eight hundred yuan on the table, picked up his phone, and transferred three months' rent to the landlord.

For the next two days, Jian Ning didn't go to school. Instead, she stayed home and focused on her cultivation, keeping her phone switched off the whole time.

It wasn't until the afternoon of the third day when Jian Anping came to knock on the door that she snapped out of her meditation.

"Brother, you're back pretty fast. Did you sell the house so quickly?" Jian Ning went to open the door and asked hurriedly before Jian Anping could come in.

"Our yard is like a villa. Although the location is a bit out of the way, my parents take good care of it."

Uncle Liu had his eye on it for a long time and had mentioned it to me several times before, but you always disagreed with selling it, so I didn't bring it up.

This time when I went back, I went directly to him and paid him in cash all at once. It's all deposited into this card; it sold for 7.6 million. The password is your birthday.

Jian Ning took the newly issued China Construction Bank card, hesitated for a moment, and said, "I'll keep 1 million yuan of this money. You can use the rest to rent a place with Mengyao for your wedding."

My classmate told me that someone in his family works at the National Meteorological Administration, and there might be a long period of extreme weather in a few months. You should stock up on food and supplies, just in case.

"Is the news accurate? No way, the weather seems normal." Jian Anping said, glancing out the window.

"It's always better to be prepared, isn't it? Rent a bigger place so you can store more things, and also on a higher floor."

"I think the houses in Jinmao Mansion are quite nice; the quality is good, and the property management is strict." That was all Jian Ning could remind him of.

"Xiao Ning, with so much money, I think I should buy a house of about 100 square meters and move in with us."

Jian Anping asked with some anticipation, after all, he was his only relative, and he still wanted to fulfill his responsibility as the eldest brother.

"No need, don't rush to buy. Use the money to buy more supplies and stock up, we'll need money for the wedding too."

Besides, Jinmao Mansion is a bit far from my school. Now you should transfer one million yuan to my card and hurry up and rent a house, otherwise there won't be any suitable ones left.

"Remember, don't go to a low floor, there are too many mosquitoes. It's best to go to the twelfth floor or higher." Jian Ning couldn't help but remind her again, hoping that having a house would make Mengyao's life a little better.

"Okay, whatever you say. Give me your card number." Jian Anping picked up his phone and quickly transferred the money to Jian Ning. Then, he happily took the bank card to find Li Mengyao.

Watching his joyful figure disappear into the distance, Jian Ning was also very happy. She was now rich. Just as she was about to close the door, Jian Anping ran back.

"Xiao Ning, look at me, I've been so happy I've lost my mind. This is the jade pendant your mother left for you, keep it safe." He then took a small cloth bag out of his pocket and handed it to Jian Ning.

"Thank you, brother, you've worked hard!" Jian Ning took the cloth bag with a big smile on her face.

Only after he had truly left did she close the door, go back inside, open the bag in her hand, and take out the jade pendant.

The design on this pendant is quite unique. While most jade pendants are engraved with images of Buddha, dragons, phoenixes, or auspicious clouds, this pendant features a delicate landscape and a strange rune.

When her mother gave the jade pendant to Jian Ning, she thought it was ugly, so she left it at her hometown and never wore it.

Until a month before the end of the world, Miao Xin insisted on going back to her hometown with her. She took a liking to this jade pendant at first sight and begged to borrow it, saying she would wear it for two days. After that, she never returned it to her.

It wasn't until later that Jian Ning learned there was a personal storage space inside the jade pendant. That's why Miao Xin lived so comfortably during those apocalyptic years.

She was surrounded by a bunch of sycophants who treated her like a princess, with no worries about food or clothing, and always dressed in flowing white dresses, as if she had always lived in a peaceful and prosperous world.

Especially before she died, she actually saw Miao Xin appear out of thin air and happily drink a cup of bubble tea.

And with a mocking look on his face, he told her that she should have been enjoying all of this, but unfortunately, he got the benefit.

She should never even think about it in this lifetime!

Jian Ning glanced at the jade pendant again, took a knife, cut her index finger, and dripped three drops of blood onto it. The originally gray jade pendant suddenly emitted a dazzling white light, instantly drawing Jian Ning in.

After calming herself down, Jian Ning opened her eyes and saw that the space wasn't very big, maybe four or five acres in size. In the distance, there was a two-story building built by the water, with a stream meandering into the distance.

There was also a patch of black soil, completely empty, but the things inside were exactly the same as the patterns on the jade pendant.

However, compared to her immortal abode, it was far too rudimentary. But it was better than nothing. With it, she could buy and store supplies, since she didn't yet have the ability to abstain from grains and still needed to eat.

Upon entering the small building, one finds nothing but a wooden bed; it's completely empty, and it's unclear how many years it's been since anyone entered.

It seems she'll have to rely on herself; anyway, she has money now, so she can just buy it.

I came out and took a look at the sun hanging high in the sky. I wonder if there will be a moon tonight. It would be interesting if there were four seasons here too.

After emerging from the spatial dimension, Jian Ning took out a notebook and began writing down the things she needed to buy. This was, after all, a mortal body.

She can't refine pills right now, so medicine is definitely a must. It would be best to stock up on more herbs, in case she ever reaches the first level of Qi Refining and can use magic, then life will be much easier!

However, I don't know if the herbs in this world are suitable for alchemy; I'll have to go and see for myself.

I racked my brains and wrote down most of the things I needed. After thinking about the money I had, I realized I couldn't buy much. A million might seem like a lot, but it might not last long. Finding a way to make more money was still my top priority.

I was just about to open my phone and go to Taobao to look at the things I needed to buy online when the phone rang urgently.

"Jian Ning, why has your phone been off all this time? I've called you hundreds of times these past few days, but it's always off."

I don't know where you live. I've searched all the neighborhoods near the school but haven't found you. I'm so worried!

As soon as the call connected, Miao Xin's sweet voice came through.

Just as Jian Ning was about to speak, a young man's voice changed on the other end and asked:

"Jian Ning, we heard you haven't come to school since you fell into the water. We're all quite worried about you. Why don't you send your location to Miao Xin, and we'll go to your house together to check on you?"

"No need, thank you for your concern, but I have some things to take care of at home. I'll go to school in a few days." Jian Ning had already recognized Li Mingxuan's voice and was starting to lose control of her emotions.

The body still retained some consciousness, and its heart was beating extremely fast. It seemed that even in death, the original owner still loved Li Mingxuan.
