Sleepy
As soon as Lu Jinfeng came back, he rushed to attend a meeting with Jiang Yingshan. Although he was surprised by the length of the meeting, he also felt it was reasonable as he had missed it so many times before.
Sipping coffee in the car, Lu Jinfeng felt the coffee was bland. He'd long since grown accustomed to Li Xuanyue's revenge tactics. Despite some initial grudges, he barely cared about the fact that he'd stood her up. The film had already finished filming, and she had nothing else to do except talk to her mother about it. Not to mention the inexplicable cold war between them.
Lu Jinfeng stared out the window, knowing there was nothing to worry about, yet a nagging feeling of distrust lingered within him. He tried to defend himself, but it backfired, and this feeling lingered in his mind constantly because of his concern.
Listening to the host's cheerful tone as he went through the process, Lu Jinfeng answered question after question, most of which were about his understanding of the plot and characters. He had always been adept at handling these questions, having experienced too many such situations. The anxiety that had initially subsided but still existed gradually eased due to the familiar environment.
After two hours, his demeanor became increasingly relaxed and natural. He fielded a few challenging questions, which were within his expectations for Zhan Song. Lu Jinfeng also fielded a few questions for the newcomer, Jiang Yingshan. He understood why Li Xuanyue had arranged for Jiang Yingshan to travel with him most of the time. Another hour later, when he unscrewed the bottle cap, he realized he had already finished the water.
Lu Jinfeng knew that this event was not organized by Li Xuanyue, but he didn't believe that this nearly five-hour meeting would have been possible without her help.
Another person in the audience left midway.
While promoting the movie, the host also recommended Jiang Yingshan's upcoming new drama. Jiang Yingshan answered more questions. He listened with a faint smile on his face and an occasional nod. He seemed to be focused, but in fact he was concentrating in a daze.
The host picked a few audience members to interact with, and everything went smoothly. As the show was about to end, someone in the audience asked Lu Jinfeng a question, "When was the last time you and Bai Shunan met?"
This should be the first time, Lu Jinfeng thought to himself, under the attention of reporters and various cameras, someone asked about him and Bai Shunan.
"Well," Lu Jinfeng recalled the blurry figure illuminated by the light. More bad memories surfaced in his mind. He mentally put that part aside. "The last time we met was last autumn."
Lu Jinfeng silently completed the date in his mind, the reversal of six.
He recalled that September, "We hugged each other when we said goodbye."
There was a gap that caused the subsequent problems to focus on more than one person.
Everything was fine at first, until someone asked at the end of the meeting: "It's autumn now, why haven't you seen each other in a year? Are you not on good terms?"
When Lu Jinfeng was wondering whether to answer that he was too busy with work or that they were just ordinary people, he said, "We are friends."
It wasn't a very good answer. He was stunned for a moment when he said it, and didn't add anything else to make up for it. It seemed like he did it on purpose, but he didn't realize that he was doing it on purpose.
The man persisted and pressed on, "Then it seems you're not familiar with him. Do you want to see him?"
Lu Jinfeng didn't seem to expect someone to ask him that. The smile on his face faded, and he said, "Why do you keep asking questions about him? You really want to see him."
Lu Jinfeng twisted his wrist and tilted the microphone to the side, waiting quietly for what questions the man would ask. He raised his eyebrows slightly, as if to provoke, but his expression did not seem like that. A gradually deepening gentle smile lingered from his lips, flowing lightly on his face, but never flowed into his indifferent eyes.
He was not sure at first, but now he is certain that this person is Zhong Mianqing.
"I'm asking if you want to..."
Someone is leaving the corner position again.
"Isn't Shunan at the scene?" Jiang Yingshan interrupted innocently.
As soon as these words were spoken, the audience all looked at the man who stood up and was about to leave, and he sat down stiffly again.
"Ah?" Zhong Mianqing was also stunned. No, Li Xuanyue didn't mention Shunan. She soon understood that it was him who wanted to come after not seeing him for a year.
Lu Jinfeng didn't look away. He paused for a moment as he turned back to the microphone. His eyes opened slightly, almost imperceptibly, and his pupils followed closely. He raised his other hand and placed it on the wrist of the hand holding the microphone. His fingertips gently stroked the loose button on his cuff that was about to fall off. He glanced down boredly. Lu Jinfeng's smile faded and reappeared easily. He had a calm demeanor and said in a calm tone, "Really?"
The next second, Lu Jinfeng picked up the empty bottle of water again. Realizing that something was wrong, he gently put it down.
Even if time seems like it has never passed, it will pass sooner or later.
Lu Jinfeng was sitting in the car, and kept hearing Zhan Song's nagging in his ears. He looked at the darkening sky outside the window. As he was escorted out of the venue by bodyguards, he was getting closer and closer to the blue-gray sky. A few minutes ago, not long after the meeting ended, Lu Jinfeng saw Bai Shunan walking towards him. He didn't think Bai Shunan wanted to talk to him, so he walked over, brushed past Bai Shunan, and left without saying a word.
It would have been better if that movie had not been made, Lu Jinfeng thought with some realization, but when he thought that now when others thought of Bai Shunan, they might think of Lu Jinfeng, something that made Bai Shunan uncomfortable, Lu Jinfeng thought it was worth it.
It's like this anyway.
The blue-gray sky was getting brighter and brighter. What did Bai Shunan want to say at that time?
He walked towards him so decisively, probably wanting to say something to him, but what if he didn't walk towards him? He greeted him first, but he was talking to someone else... Lu Jinfeng didn't want to put himself in this situation, but why did he leave so decisively, only to feel complacent for a moment. When he reached the corner, he couldn't help but glance sideways, looking at Bai Shunan in the dark. Maybe it was his illusion, maybe it was his confused imagination, but the figure he caught a quick glimpse of remained in his mind, looking so helpless.
He regretted it, but still left because of an embarrassing possibility.
Perhaps it was for the same reason that Lu Jinfeng did not focus his gaze on the corner during the entire meeting. Looking back now, he really felt that it was too deliberate. He should not have not looked there, but he did not want to face it. From the very beginning, when he looked at the audience, he saw Bai Shunan, the person he could always recognize at a glance. Why did he feel annoyed when he saw him, but also a faint inexplicable joy, which attracted his attention and made him unable to look at him, but unable to ignore him.
Lu Jinfeng rubbed his cheeks, and when he thought of how Bai Shunan praised him in front of the host, his mood inexplicably turned from gloomy to cheerful.
Zhan Song looked at Lu Jinfeng's uncertain expression. He was sure that Lu Jinfeng hadn't heard a single word he said. "You are so happy just to see Bai Shunan."
Lu Jinfeng came back to his senses and said, "It's okay."
Zhan Song continued to busy himself with his own things. After a moment of silence, he heard Lu Jinfeng whisper, "He praised me."
"Have you ever considered this is just a courtesy?"
"Why, you're envious."
“…”
