Chapter 48 (48 Second Update)

Chapter 48 (48 Second Update)

Forty-eight:

Back at the hotel, Mu Shaowu immediately selected nine photos and posted them on his WeChat Moments.

He chose to make the settings visible only to family, friends, and relatives, naturally blocking his friends in the entertainment industry.

—There's no way around it, he's such a popular celebrity, if he suddenly posts pictures of his son, he's afraid his friends will be scared to death.

Then he'll start calling nonstop, disrupting his time with his precious son.

Therefore, Mu Shaowu felt at ease blocking the message.

Mu Shaoting was reading a novel late into the night. When she got tired of reading, she decided to scroll through her WeChat Moments to refresh her eyes, and that's when she saw the freshly posted photos of her little nephew.

In the photos, Ye Qingxi is either wearing a cat-patterned short-sleeved shirt or cat-patterned swim trunks. Her skin is fair and tender, and her face is flushed from swimming in the sun, like a sweet watermelon in summer, fresh and delicious.

While saving the file, Mu Shaoting complained: "Right now, she should be the one leading Little Watermelon!"

They must have been having a great time together at the amusement park!

Mu Shaowu, that melon thief, deserves to die!

When are you coming back?

Mu Shaoting sent a WeChat message to the watermelon thief, questioning him: "The National Day holiday is only seven days long. Will she not be able to go to the amusement park with her little watermelon until the end of the holiday?!"

Mu Shaowu: [Missed me?]

Mu Shaoting: ...

Mu Shaoting: [I miss my nephew.]

Mu Shaowu chuckled: "Then you just wait."

Mu Shaoting: ? ? ?

So Mu Shaoting turned around and sent Ye Qingxi a WeChat message: 【Baby, when are you coming back? Auntie misses you so much [crying]】

Ye Qingxi: ...Is it possible that he's only been playing for a day?

Ye Qingxi could only reply with a "pat pat" emoji, comforting her: "It'll be quick~"

Five days isn't a very long time, is it?

After Mu Shaowu finished chatting with Mu Shaoting and exited the chat, he noticed that the nine-grid photo he had just posted had received many likes and comments.

Mu Shaowu excitedly clicked on it, only to find that the comments section was full of copied and pasted sentences: "[So cute, I stole it, baby, come to me~]"

Mu Shaowu: ...

Mu Shaowu: !!!

Seriously, don't they have their own babies?! Why are they all so focused on his baby?!

Oh my god, Mu Shaowu suddenly realized that it seemed there really wasn't.

But you can't just keep an eye on his son!

Mu Shaowu angrily exited his WeChat Moments and turned to look at his son, who was eating a piece of fruit.

"Come on, Daddy will take you to take a bath." He stood up, walked behind Ye Qingxi, and picked him up in his arms.

Ye Qingxi had no choice but to hurriedly swallow the mango in her mouth before he carried her into the bathroom.

The next day, Mu Shaowu took Ye Qingxi for a stroll in the city.

The two visited some of the more famous local buildings and then went to some scenic spots.

Mu Shaowu even bought tickets and boarded a sightseeing bus with Ye Qingxi, sitting on the top deck to tour the city.

In the evening, Mu Shaowu took him back to the beach and watched the sunset together.

The round sun was about to set, its slanting rays spreading across the sea, half shimmering green, half crimson. Ye Qingxi gazed at the sea dyed red, at the seabirds soaring high in the sky; everything was so beautiful, so breathtaking. He picked up his smartwatch and snapped a picture of the scene before him.

After playing for two more days, they only had one day left before they had to go home.

That day, Mu Shaowu didn't take him to play around the area anymore, but instead focused on playing with him in the sea.

Ye Qingxi played several water sports with Mu Shaowu until he got tired, at which point Mu Shaowu carried him ashore.

They sat on the beach resting, the seawater gently surging towards the shore, pushing seashells that had sunk to the bottom of the sea to Ye Qingxi's feet.

Ye Qingxi picked one up, looked at it in the sunlight, and then childishly went to pick up others.

He picked up several items he liked, but unfortunately, these things couldn't pass through security, so he just looked at them and threw them back into the sea.

There were other children around his age sitting on the beach, building sandcastles.

Mu Shaowu asked him, "Why aren't you piling them up?"

Ye Qingxi: ...

Of course, it's because these are toys for kids; he's not that childish!

Mu Shaowu clearly retains a childlike heart.

"Come on." Mu Shaowu pulled him over and walked to a less crowded part of the beach, where they sat down and began building sandcastles.

Ye Qingxi: ...

“Let’s pile them up!” Mu Shaowu said enthusiastically, “Dad will pile them up with you.”

After saying that, he walked a short distance away, asked a child who had obviously finished building a castle for a small bucket, and brought over a bucket of water.

Ye Qingxi: ...

What can Ye Qingxi do?

He could only sit down opposite Mu Shaowu and keep his childish father company.

However, neither of them, father and son, seemed to have much talent when it came to handicrafts.

Ye Qingxi spent a long time building, but no matter how he looked at it, he felt that his building didn't look like a castle. He looked up at Mu Shaowu and saw that his looked even less like a castle.

Mu Shaowu probably figured it out as well.

So Mu Shaowu changed his mind and said, "Castles are too Western and don't have our traditional aesthetics at all. Let's build one with national characteristics."

"for example?"

"For example, city walls!"

After saying that, Mu Shaowu picked up the small bucket, poured water on the ruined castle he had built earlier, and began to build the city wall.

Ye Qingxi: ...

Ye Qingxi had no choice but to build a city wall with him.

As the city wall was nearing completion, Mu Shaowu spoke softly, "Did you enjoy your trip?"

"I'm happy," Ye Qingxi replied.

"Then Dad will bring you out again next time."

"Okay." Ye Qingxi replied without hesitation.

Mu Shaowu looked at him, but couldn't bring himself to say the words of farewell.

He hesitated for a long time before finally speaking slowly, "But the next time might be a while away."

Ye Qingxi looked up at him.

Mu Shaowu said, "Didn't you ask Dad to go to work before? Dad's work is about to start, and he'll be away from home for about four months. We probably won't see each other again until around the Lunar New Year."

Ye Qingxi was somewhat surprised, "When are you leaving?"

“I’m leaving once we get back,” Mu Shaowu said honestly. “That’s why I was thinking of taking advantage of the fact that I’m still here and you have time, so we can go out and have some fun together, just the two of us.”

Ye Qingxi understood.

He thought that Mu Shaowu really just wanted to spend the National Day holiday with him.

Ye Qingxi lowered her eyes and looked at the city wall in front of her.

The city wall was completed, but the people who built it could no longer be with him.

"Then you should focus on your work." Ye Qingxi raised her eyelids and looked directly at him. "I'll be waiting for you to come home."

"Okay." Mu Shaowu smiled. "Then you're not allowed to be close to anyone else during this time~ You're my son, you have to be my best friend."

Ye Qingxi chuckled and nodded, "Oh."

"Will you miss me?" Mu Shaowu asked him.

Ye Qingxi: ...

Ye Qingxi has always been somewhat resistant to and avoidant of issues involving her own feelings.

But Mu Shaowu looked at him with gentle and serene eyes, as if he were secretly expecting something.

Ye Qingxi couldn't escape this problem under these circumstances.

So he nodded very slightly, his voice low, "Mmm."

"That's good." Mu Shaowu said happily, "I'll definitely miss you a lot, and I might even video chat with you every now and then."

Hearing him say that, Ye Qingxi couldn't help but laugh again.

He gathered the sand again, preparing to build a small sandman in front of the city wall.

However, Mu Shaowu grasped his hand.

Ye Qingxi looked up and saw Mu Shaowu leaning closer to him. "Although Dad has to go to work, the rest of the family is still here, so don't worry. If anything happens, wait for me to come back if you can, and if you can't, call your uncle. He will take care of you for me."

He said, "If the teacher asks you to call your parents again, if the teacher asks you to call your dad, call your uncle; if the teacher asks you to call your mom, call your aunt; if the teacher asks you to call your parents, call them all to the school, understand?"

Ye Qingxi chuckled, "Do my uncle and aunt know?"

"Of course, Zhong Yan and the others called her 'Mom' that time, but you didn't. I told your aunt about it later, and she immediately said that you should call her 'Mom'. In this family, your grandmother passed away early, and your aunt didn't spend much time with you. So your aunt is the closest to you among all your female elders."

"So if you need a female elder to step in during your future growth, then it will inevitably be her responsibility. Don't feel embarrassed. Your aunt is willing to help. Let me tell you, your aunt even secretly went to your grandfather and asked him why he directly asked you to be my son instead of hers. Do you know what your grandfather said?"

Ye Qingxi shook her head.

Mu Shaowu laughed and said, "Your grandfather said, 'Xiao Xi needs a father, not a sister. You still need your brother to give you pocket money. Raising a child? Who is raising it, you or your brother?' That made your aunt very angry, and she vowed to make money after she graduates."

Ye Qingxi laughed again.

"So you don't need to worry, she likes you very much and is willing to be your temporary mother."

Ye Qingxi nodded.

Mu Shaowu wanted to pat his head, but when he saw that there was sand on his hands, he had to give up.

“Dad will be back as soon as possible,” he promised.

"Okay," Ye Qingxi replied.

"When Dad goes to record the New Year's Eve gala, he'll bring you along too."

Ye Qingxi refused, "I'm not going."

"Didn't you say you wanted to hear Daddy sing?"

"I can listen to it at home."

"Alright then." Mu Shaowu didn't press him.

After Ye Qingxi finished speaking to him, he lowered his head and silently rolled the sand into a ball, asking curiously, "What else are you going to build?"

Ye Qingxi glanced at him but didn't say anything.

He made two small sand figures, one bigger and one smaller.

He placed the larger one outside the city wall and the smaller one inside the city wall.

Mu Shaowu understood instantly.

They're being piled up like this.

Dad went out to work, and the baby stayed at home.

The father works hard outside to earn money, building a wall so that his baby can live comfortably within the solid walls, undisturbed by the outside world.

And the baby's job is to wait for Daddy to come home.

His son is quite sensitive.

"So cute," Mu Shaowu said. "Xiao Xi, what you made is so cute."

After saying that, Mu Shaowu took out his phone and took a picture of the two little sand people.

The next morning, before boarding the plane, Mu Shaowu went to pick out some gifts for his family and friends as usual.

Ye Qingxi also picked out several gifts for the other members of the Mu family and his three good friends.

While buying a gift, he saw a diamond figurine brooch.

The brooch is cleverly designed, resembling two people, one big and one small, holding hands, or two flowers slowly blooming.

The more Ye Qingxi looked at it, the more beautiful it seemed.

"You like this?" Mu Shaowu leaned in from behind. "If you like it, I'll buy it for you."

Ye Qingxi shook his head and said, "I have money, I'll buy it myself."

Mu Shaowu smiled and replied, "Okay."

Anyway, the money Ye Qingxi spent will flow back into his pocket in another way during the Chinese New Year.

So, as long as he's happy.

Ye Qingxi paid for the brooch and asked the shop assistant to wrap it up.

The shop assistant noticed him staring intently at the brooch she was packing and chuckled, "You're so young, and you already know how to wear brooches?"

Ye Qingxi nodded, then shook her head.

He didn't buy it for himself; he bought it for Mu Shaowu.

He wanted to give Mu Shaowu a gift since they were about to part ways.

I looked around for a long time but couldn't choose one until I saw this brooch.

Ye Qingxi turned her head and glanced at Mu Shaowu, who was on the phone.

Hopefully, he can protect himself outside the city walls, which he cannot see, and return smoothly to the city walls that belong to them.

Continue, be his father.
