After the grain was distributed, she had completely free time. There were several weddings in the village, but Su Qingmeng didn't know any of the families, so she didn't go to join in the fun.
Guo Wei came over and said he was getting married to Lin Meimei the next day and invited them to the wedding. Su Qingmeng was shocked. What was going on? The university place was gone. She thought they had broken up.
Tian Ke came out of Gao Xiaohuan's room and went to look for them. "Xiaohuan kept crying and wouldn't say anything when asked."
Su Qingmeng felt that it was a blessing in disguise for her, as it was good that she could see Guo Wei's true face sooner.
Tian Ke said, "I don't care anymore. I tried to persuade her but she didn't listen. It's better to break up now than to find out Guo Wei's true colors after we get married. That would be too late."
Su Qingmeng felt that Tian Ke was quite clear-headed. No wonder they could get along so well. Only those with the same values could be friends.
Su Qingmeng did not attend Guo Wei's wedding. Their educated youth site sent two representatives, the female educated youth was Zhang Fang. She gave a 2-cent gift money and asked Zhang Fang to take it with her.
Lin Xiuyao came over, and Su Qingmeng asked, "Why did your cousin marry Guo Wei?" Lin Meimei is only 17 this year, and I don't know why she is in such a hurry.
Lin Xiuyao: "Don't mention it, it's embarrassing. She threatened to commit suicide at home and insisted on marrying Guo Wei. My uncle couldn't stop her, so he just agreed to their marriage."
Su Qingmeng heard something unfinished in his words. She thought that Guo Wei might have tricked Lin Meimei into getting on the bus first and buying the ticket later, so she didn't ask any more questions.
Su Qingmeng and her friends went to the county town. The road was blocked after the snow, so they took the opportunity to buy all the supplies for the whole winter. This should be her last time to go to the supply and marketing cooperative this year.
After getting off the bus, Su Qingmeng felt carsick again. They rested on the side of the road for a while and then went directly to the supply and marketing cooperative.
After a large shopping spree at the supply and marketing cooperative, Su Qingmeng bought three months' worth of toilet paper, condiments, some pastries, two bottles of canned fruit, notebooks, pens, five bars of soap, and two sets of toothbrushes and toothpaste.
The rest could not be bought without tickets, and she wanted to buy a watch for Lin Xiuyao. He gave her such an expensive radio, and Su Qingmeng wanted to return the gift. She wanted to go to the black market, but she didn't know where it was.
Su Qingmeng found an excuse to separate from her friends. She put her things into the space in a remote alley, changed her coat, and found a friendly-looking aunt to approach. After chatting for a few words, she felt that she was very enthusiastic.
Su Qingmeng secretly handed over a few candies and asked her where she could buy things without a ticket. Her aunt understood and told her about several free markets.
After Su Qingmeng inquired about the location, she went to a place that was said to offer reasonable prices. She covered her face with a scarf, leaving only her eyes exposed. The person at the alley gate, who must have been on guard, looked her over briefly before letting her in.
The alley is quite quiet. The sellers put a backpack or straw basket in front of them, with a sample in front. Those who like something come closer and talk in a low voice. The transaction is quick and there is basically no bargaining.
Su Qingmeng looked from beginning to end. Most of the items were agricultural products, with very few industrial products. The only cloth vendor sold homespun cloth. She bought enough cloth to make a full set of clothes, saving them for work next year.
Seeing her wandering around, the manager came over and asked, "What do you want to buy?"
Su Qingmeng whispered, "Watch."
He looked her over and saw that she didn't look like someone who was short of money, so he said, "Come with me."
After turning a corner, he entered a yard. There were two young men in the yard. Su Qingmeng stood at the door and didn't want to go in. The man didn't say anything. He said a few words to one of them, and the man went into the house, probably to get the goods.
It seemed like they had a clear hierarchy and good management. Soon he came out with the things, but there was another person following him, um... it was her boyfriend.
She had thought that Lin Xiuyao was mainly busy in the commune, but it turned out that he was running a black market in the county. He seemed to be of high rank and quite powerful.
When Su Qingmeng was hesitating whether to turn around and run away, she was already seen. Lin Xiuyao showed a surprised expression, he must have recognized her.
Lin Xiuyao pointed at her and said angrily, "What are you doing here?" Su Qingmeng lowered her head and muttered softly, "You're still here."
"Brother Yao, do you know her?" asked the man who came into the room to pick up the goods. Lin Xiuyao said, "I know her. You go ahead and do your thing. I'll take care of her."
He pulled Su Qingmeng into the house and said, "You're quite brave. What are you here to buy?" Su Qingmeng hesitated. "A watch," she whispered. "Don't you have a watch?" Lin Xiuyao was puzzled.
She glanced at him, not wanting to speak. Lin Xiuyao reacted, "Buy it for me."
Su Qingmeng was embarrassed. She wanted to give a gift, but ended up buying it from the original owner, and Lin Xiuyao was wearing a watch on his hand.
Lin Xiuyao wanted to laugh, but he held it back. "Then you can't come to the black market either. What if something goes wrong?"
Su Qingmeng glared at him. "Oh, only the governor is allowed to set fire, but the people are not allowed to light lamps."
Lin Xiuyao couldn't help it, he laughed and said, "Next time if you want to buy something, tell me, and don't go to dangerous places alone."
Su Qingmeng agreed obediently.
Lin Xiuyao looked at her, suspecting that she hadn't listened again. It seemed that he had to keep a closer eye on her in the future. Today, she said she came to the county town with her friends, so he didn't pay attention to it. As expected, he couldn't let his guard down.
"I have a watch, so don't buy it. It's just that it would be a bit conspicuous to wear in the village, so I've never worn it. Do you want anything else?"
Su Qingmeng looked at the dazzling array of goods in the room and said, "You have quite a wide range of goods here, almost as good as the supply and marketing cooperative." She pointed at the green cloth and said, "I want some more cloth. You can't buy anything at the supply and marketing cooperative without a ticket."
Lin Xiuyao took a pair of scissors and cut it for her. "How much do you want?" Su Qingmeng calculated and said, "10 meters."
Lin Xiuyao finished cutting it for her and took her around the house. Su Qingmeng asked for ten more batteries for the radio. She was curious about what it tasted like.
