Seeing that she had made her choice, Lin Xiuyao took her out of the house. Several people in the yard looked at them with gossipy expressions.
Lin Xiuyao simply said, "Put the things on my account, I'm going to be out for a while." He pulled Su Qingmeng out of the black market.
"You came here with Zhou Zhiqing and the others, right? Where are they?" he asked. Su Qingmeng said, "We separated and will meet at the state-owned hotel later."
"I'll take you there." Lin Xiuyao checked the time; it was almost noon. "No need, I know the way. You go ahead and do your thing. I'll go by myself." Su Qingmeng quickly declined. The things she'd bought were all in her space, and she'd have to find a way to get them out later.
Lin Xiuyao was worried, "Let me take you there, otherwise who knows where you'll end up?" Su Qingmeng swore to go directly to the state-owned hotel, and after much persuasion, Lin Xiuyao finally gave up the idea of personally escorting her.
Lin Xiuyao handed the things to her, and then hesitated: "How about I take them back for you?" Su Qingmeng said, "It's not heavy, I'll take it." She took the cloth and malted milk. "Then I'll leave."
Passing by a remote alley, there were piles of bricks and debris against the wall. Su Qingmeng saw that there was no one around, so he took out the things he had bought from the blind spot, changed his clothes, and went to the state-owned restaurant to meet up with his friends.
Seeing Su Qingmeng coming back with something, Zhou Wenxi whispered, "Where did you buy it? At the black market?" She mouthed the word "black market" but didn't say it out loud.
Tian Ke also stared at her with wide eyes, and Su Qingmeng nodded. Tian Ke said, "You are so brave."
Su Qingmeng said, "I don't have a ticket, so I'll just try my luck." The three of them ate. Su Qingmeng ordered a bowl of shredded pork noodles; she'd been enjoying a lot of oily dishes lately, so she didn't order any meat dishes. Tian Ke had dumplings, while Zhou Wenxi had twice-cooked pork and rice.
To be honest, none of the three of them are short of money, and they don’t have to consider other people’s emotions when they interact with each other. They can eat whatever they want, which is pretty good.
After eating, take the bus back to the village.
