Chapter 151 Heian Period Seventeen

"Thank you for your help," Quan said.

"It's all cleaned up here. If you need anything, just have someone call us." Unable to bear the cold, the mayor led the cleaning crew away as if fleeing.

In that short quarter of an hour, snowflakes fell again in the courtyard. People left, and the Yaksha on the carriage darkened his eyes. The Snow Woman had become stronger, which was really not a good thing.

"Hey! Put me down right now!"

He called out.

Seeing the gloating looks in those people's eyes, he knew he must be looking pathetic right now! They actually made him stand in the rain on the roof of the car; he'd remember them!

"Untie him," Quan said.

They untied the ropes binding him, and Yaksha leaped off the carriage with a somersault, only to fall flat on his face.

With difficulty, Yaksha sat weakly to one side, feeling extremely cold.

"Help them in and light the stove."

Izumi went into the main house and threw a few pieces of charcoal into the stove to boil water. Ōtengu dragged the half-dead Yaksha in and threw him in the corner.

"You're abusing the shikigami!"

Yaksha's voice was very weak, and he hugged his fork tightly.

"I'll go see where that noise they were talking about is." The Snow Woman floated out.

After touring the mansion, she noticed that the courtyard was small, while the backyard was large. There were no trees or flowers planted in the mansion, and there was no well in the backyard, only a small river running through it.

The Snow Woman memorized the layout of the place and returned to the main house. Inside the main house, the aroma of tea filled the air, and Izumi poured the brewed tea into a cup.

Beside him, Yaksha, soaking wet, held a cup of tea. Seeing him like this, Yuki-onna couldn't help but feel a pang of pity.

She picked up a cup of tea and approached him, when Yaksha suddenly looked up and glared at her fiercely, his eyes bloodshot, which startled her.

"Go over there! You're too cold!"

The last trace of pity in her heart vanished. Yuki-onna pouted. She had actually tried to persuade Ootengu to boil water for him to take a bath. She must have been crazy.

Take a short rest for a day.

That night, Izumi and her shikigami went to the backyard to look for the strange noise the mayor had mentioned. They didn't hear anything, but they did find a hot spring.

"There are hot springs here."

Quan was very happy.

And so, the Great Tengu went back to keep an eye on the Yasha, while Izumi and the Snow Woman soaked in the hot spring.

Sitting in the hot spring, I felt the water temperature suddenly drop sharply. Looking up, I saw that it was the Snow Woman who had entered.

"Is it okay to soak in a hot spring?" she asked.

"It's quite comfortable."

The Snow Woman said with a smile.

Soaking in the hot spring, she felt drowsy and sleepy. In her half-asleep state, a burst of laughter woke her up.

"La la... la la..."

There was a woman's voice.

When she opened her eyes, she saw Yuki-onna sitting to the side with her eyes closed. Izumi nudged her, and Yuki-onna woke up and also noticed the sounds.

She changed into a bathrobe and stood up. Her voice came from the small river behind her; it was clear she was talking to herself, but the sound was indistinct.

Izumi changed her clothes, and they hid in the grass to look out. They saw... the Great Tengu and the Yaksha bathing in the river.

"Phew..." Quan stood up, put away the talisman in his hand, "So it was you guys playing around and laughing here in the middle of the night. Go to sleep."

The Great Tengu looked up at them, puzzled, and asked, "We weren't joking around. Why would I be playing around with this guy?"

Yaksha: "Hey!"

The sound wasn't coming from them?

Quan looked towards the river again and suddenly saw a huge seashell that looked familiar; he felt like he had seen it somewhere before.

"There's a big oyster here."

The snow woman floated above the seashell.

"Oysters? Pry one open and see how much meat there is." Yaksha dried himself off, changed into a new set of clothes, and walked to the riverbank.

"So big? It must be a monster," he said suspiciously.

You've hit the nail on the head.

"Waaaaah...waaaah..."

The laughter turned into sobs, which were terrifying in the silent night.

"Come out, water sprite."

Yaksha kicked the seashell.

The shell closed even tighter.

"Waaaaah...waaaah..."

"Jiaotu, is that you?" Quan asked.

A crack appeared in the seashell, and a woman's alluring voice rang out: "Who are you?"

"I am Izumi, and these are my shikigami. Come out, we won't hurt you." Izumi took a few steps back.

The shell hesitated for a moment, then closed its shell tightly, slid off the river grass into the water, and swam quickly away into the distance.

spring:"……"

The Great Tengu saw it, swam over, reached out and scooped it up, throwing it on the ground. The shell let out a startled cry of "Ah!", and then fell silent.

Did he faint from the fall?

Quan thought to himself.

"If you won't listen to reason, you'll have to suffer the consequences. I have no interest in killing this little monster. Should I eat her?" Yaksha picked up a seashell with his fork.

"Onmyoji, should we take this seashell back or throw it away?" he continued to ask.

"Take it back."

The four of them returned to the main house along the path. Yaksha threw the seashell on the ground and said with disgust, "The whole house smells of fish."

"Smack."

There was a sudden sound from the cabinet next to me.

Yaksha stared at the cabinet for a while, then suddenly thrust his yaksha into it.

"What is that? Show yourself!"

"Ahhhhh..."

A round wooden fish rolled out of the hole the yaksha had made and landed on the ground. There was an eye in the crevices of the wooden fish.

"My lords! I'm only staying here for the night, please don't hurt me..."

"One-eyed monk?"

I saw quite a few acquaintances tonight.

Bodhidharma rolled on the ground and transformed into a short monk with one large, bright eye.

"So it was a monster transformed from a wooden fish daruma doll," the Great Tengu recognized.
