Chapter 37 Encountering a Female Thief on the Way

Perhaps because he had never tried walking with glasses before, even though they were just a pair of non-prescription glasses, Li Lechen felt a bit dizzy, and even found it difficult to walk properly because of them.

When we reached a crossroads, the number of people suddenly increased.

"Uh!" Li Lechen suddenly felt a strong force hit his arm.

"Ouch!" Then a middle-aged woman's voice was heard.

Turning around in the direction of the voice, I saw a fat woman rubbing her arm, her eyes wide with anger, and she said indignantly, "You young man, you're not watching where you're going!"

Because Li Lechen bumped into someone, his glasses slipped down his nose, so he quickly used his hand to hold the frame and straighten them.

It's really embarrassing not being used to wearing glasses.

Suddenly, the scene before my eyes seemed to pause for a moment, like the pause button on a movie flashing by.

Hmm? Could it be that I'm hallucinating because I'm not used to these glasses? I'm seeing real things through them, not watching a movie, so why would there be a sudden pause?

He shook his head and adjusted the temples of his glasses again.

"Click!"

And then it happened again.

This time, Li Lechen clearly realized that it wasn't a fleeting pause, but a photo being taken.

Could it be... could it be that these glasses are actually a camera?

Good heavens! This was so well hidden! Was it invented by a professional paparazzi?

Just as he was both surprised and delighted, the middle-aged woman started cursing: "You young man, you hit someone and didn't even apologize. How come young people these days are so rude and ill-mannered? You look like a student, which school are you from?"

Seeing that things were getting out of hand—the middle-aged woman was being a bit long-winded, and Li Lechen was standing there dumbfounded—Zhou Mi quickly stepped in to smooth things over, apologizing on Li Lechen's behalf: "I'm so sorry, ma'am!"

Seemingly because the girl spoke up, or perhaps because the title "elder sister" was accurate, the middle-aged woman immediately stopped and walked away, swaying her plump waist.

Then, Zhou Mi nudged Li Lechen: "What's wrong with you?"

"I...it's nothing..." Li Lechen said, quickly taking off his glasses.

He had roughly figured out the purpose of these glasses. They wouldn't let him see anything special through the lenses; they didn't have superpowers or any special abilities. They were simply a special camera; touching the temples of the glasses would take a picture. He just didn't know how to view or export the photos.

However, knowing this basic point gives me a direction for my research.

Since that's the case, there's no point in continuing to wear these glasses that are getting in the way of walking; it's better to take them off.

Seeing that Li Lechen had taken off his glasses, Zhou Mi continued to tease him relentlessly: "What's wrong with you that you bumped into an old lady?"

Full of it? No, it was just a close brush.

Also, didn't you just call her "big sister"? How come you're calling her "Aunt Jiang" now? If you had called her "Aunt Jiang" earlier, this matter definitely wouldn't have ended so easily.

Shrugging to indicate his silence, Li Lechen stuffed his glasses back into his pocket.

However, as soon as the glasses were put in, I felt something slide down my thigh, all the way from my groin to my ankle, and then it slipped right out of my pants leg.

Um?!

Looking down, he saw that what had popped out was none other than the glasses he had just put in his pocket.

Could it be... that the pocket is torn?!

"Holy crap!" Li Lechen exclaimed.

Zhou Mi, who was completely unprepared, was startled: "What are you doing?!"

"My pocket is torn! Oh no! I've been robbed!"

That's right. Besides the pockets, the outside of the pants was also torn, a neatly cut rip, clearly intentionally made.

That woman just now...

When Li Lechen and Zhou Mi came to their senses and looked at the crowd, the fat woman was nowhere to be seen. So fat, yet she disappeared so quickly—what was the point of her being there?

These days, thieves don't follow the usual paths. Who would have thought that a large, middle-aged "woman" who's cursing and swearing in the street would be a thief?

"Was it a lot of money lost? If not, just let it go," Zhou Mi comforted her. "Even if you call the police, it won't do much good and will only waste a lot of time."

"It's not much money, just over seventy yuan in change, but..."

"But what?"

"...But my pants are ripped!"

The words were on the tip of his tongue, but Li Lechen didn't continue. In his pocket, besides seventy-odd yuan in change, there was also a wad of tissues, inside which were five diamonds crystallized from that bottle of diamond essence.

Because I was in a hurry to go downstairs to pick up Zhou Mi, I just wrapped the diamond in a tissue and stuffed it in my pocket. Who would have thought I'd run into a thief? And this thief was the kind who robbed people of their pots and pans.

So many diamonds, even though their shapes aren't very regular, they must be worth tens of thousands, or even hundreds of thousands, right? Especially the biggest one.

Fortunately, it was something he got for free, and he didn't intend to exchange it for money. Compared to losing the diamond, Li Lechen was more upset about his pants being torn and the more than seventy yuan that had been stolen.

Fortunately...

"I'll treat you to dinner. Thank you for helping me move the stone blocks this afternoon and for solving so many math problems," Zhou Mi said immediately.

"Mm!" Li Lechen nodded heavily.

Heh...hehe...Zhou Mi's lips twitched as she thought to herself: They really aren't being polite at all. It seems all the money I've earned these past few days will have to go into their pockets.

Crab noodles, huh? That must cost several tens of yuan a serving, right?
