Su Wanwan's eyes lit up instantly.
After a moment's hesitation, "Really?"
"Would I lie to you?" He gently stroked her pert nose with his long, slender fingers.
"Then I'll make you lunch, like last time." She was immediately filled with energy, feeling both excited and nervous.

Just as lunch was being set out, Zhang Yong came over.
Lu Xingjian, wearing a loose and comfortable outer robe, spoke a few words with Zhang Yong in the main hall and then sent him away.
Su Wanwan was ladling soup when she raised an eyebrow and glanced behind him: "So fast?"
Lu Xingjian's eyes were slightly cold as he looked at her with displeasure:
"A mere servant, should we invite him to dine?"
Su Wanwan placed the soup bowl in front of him, ignoring his deliberate provocation.
"You've stripped them of their power, you should at least offer some words of comfort."
Lu Xingjian picked up his chopsticks:
“He’s been busy with palace duties lately, while the Twelfth Battalion has become quite lax. I should have reprimanded him long ago.”
"Only by rewarding and punishing, and by combining kindness and severity, will they not dare to act recklessly."
“Unlike you, you can’t even bear to kill a maid who betrayed her master, and you let anyone ride roughshod over you.”
Su Wanwan looked at him, ignoring his complaints, and instead asked seriously, "How does it taste?"
She gripped the chopsticks a little tightly; she had never been very confident in her cooking skills.
Lu Xingjian felt a warmth in his heart and, unusually, praised, "It's better than what the imperial chefs make."
Su Wanwan's expression relaxed slightly, but she couldn't help but smile, giving him a playful, reproachful look with her brimming eyes.
How could that be?
"Are you just trying to fool me?"
Lu Xingjian's eyes flickered, as if something had pierced his heart.
