He was still very angry with her.
He was angry that she didn't trust him, and angry that she didn't take her own body seriously.
Her bedridden illness was caused by her own reckless actions, yet she turns around and blames him.
The next moment, he pulled her into his arms, his thin lips curving slightly, his eyes full of meaning.
"Okay, I won't do it."
Su Wanwan tensed up, looking at him warily: "What are you going to do?"
Lu Xingjian uttered a single word from his thin lips.
...
After an unknown amount of time, Su Wanwan's voice became hoarse, she felt dizzy and drowsy, covered in sweat, and limp as a puddle.
She sobbed softly.
The man breathed heavily in her ear, "Are you scared?"
Su Wanwan did not answer.
Upon seeing this, the man sat up and pulled her into his arms.
Su Wanwan's mind went blank; she was truly terrified and finally softened her stance.
"Don't come anymore, I'm scared, really scared."
A wise woman doesn't suffer losses in front of her.
Lu Xingjian embraced her body, which was as soft as a willow branch, his voice hoarse:
"Call me your dear husband."
Su Wanwan nestled softly against his shoulder, pleading for mercy in a gentle voice:
"My dearest husband, as long as the green hills remain, there will always be firewood to burn."
Lu Xingjian's slender fingers gently stroked her back.
Even the most stubborn and rebellious person can be brought to their knees by him.
However, she has lost a lot of weight.
The few succulents I managed to grow a while ago have all disappeared again.
A barely perceptible hint of heartache flickered across his satisfied face as he kissed her collarbone and gently brushed his forehead against her chin.
"Come with me to meet someone in a bit, okay?"
Su Wanwan didn't want to go, but she was afraid he wouldn't let her go.
Having been married to him for so long, this is the first time I've seen him so fierce.
The difference in their physical strength was enormous; she could only be brutally attacked by him and had absolutely no ability to say no.
It was a shameful experience, but also one I had never had before.
"Can I not go?"
Her soft voice had a hint of huskiness, making her incredibly alluring.
The man's lust, which had just subsided, was rekindled, and he gently nibbled on her earlobe.
"If you don't want to go, we'll come again."
Su Wanwan was so frightened that she froze, wrapping her soft arms around his neck: "I'll go, I'll go."
...
More than half a year later, the doors of the Imperial Study opened again.
Lu Xingjian and Su Wanwan sat in the imperial study, watching the Imperial Son-in-Law You Tai enter and pay his respects.
You Tai was nearly fifty years old, with a tall and imposing figure, and his attitude was very respectful.
"This humble general pays his respects to Your Majesty the Emperor and Your Majesty the Empress."
Lu Xingjian said calmly, "No need for formalities."
Despite her aching back, Su Wanwan smiled gently and said, "Grand-uncle, how have you been?"
You Taiwei paused, his face filled with gratitude: "This humble general is unharmed, thank you for your kindness, Your Majesty."
Princess Longqing has been dead for almost thirty years. He married several wives and had a large number of children.
Hearing that "great-uncle" made me feel honored.
When he was on duty in the palace, he often saw Lu Xingjian and Su Wanwan when they were children.
The current emperor and empress are practically children he watched grow up.
Lu Xingjian exchanged a few pleasantries, then changed the subject:
"When my great-grandmother was alive, she relied heavily on my great-uncle. Now, I am entrusting you with the task of commanding the guards of the Great Han General."
You Tai felt a slight tremor in his heart, and was extremely excited.
"This humble general will certainly live up to His Majesty's trust, even unto death!"
You Tai's eldest daughter married the grandson of the Duke of Yingguo, making her a member of the royal family whose fortunes were intertwined with those of the Duke of Yingguo and the Duke of Anguo.
However, Princess Longqing died young, so his connection with the royal family was not very close.
Now that he has been given important responsibilities again, entrusted with palace security, and has gained the new emperor's trust, he naturally treats this matter with great care.
Su Wanwan lowered her eyes.
After You Tai left, Lu Xingjian took her hand, a half-smile on his face:
"My wife, why are you unhappy?"
Su Wanwan paused for a moment, then asked directly, "Are you trying to reduce Zhang Yong's power? Is that necessary?"
"What do you mean, 'no'?" Lu Xingjian's smile faded. "Don't you know his ulterior motives towards you?"
His gaze held a hint of scrutiny. "Or do you really have feelings for him?"
Su Wanwan found him unreasonable:
"He's a eunuch, what feelings could I possibly have for him?"
Lu Xingjian's lips curled into a sarcastic smile, "You're not in the mood to send him snacks?"
His voice was low, with a hint of accusation:
"He even showed it off in front of me. Su Wanwan, instead of trying to please me, you're trying to please a eunuch. Isn't that putting the cart before the horse?"
Su Wanwan paused, then said in a low voice, "I had some snacks prepared for Yunxi as well, why didn't you argue about it?"
Lu Xingjian's eyes froze, a dangerous glint in them. He reached out and wrapped his arm around her slender waist, his hand tightening slightly, carrying a hint of threat.
"Fine, Su Wanwan, I'm not only inferior to a eunuch, I'm even worse than an animal, right?"
He had finally found a way to threaten her.
Looking at the solemn and imposing imperial study, Su Wanwan wasn't afraid at all; instead, she smiled nonchalantly.
"This is the competition you wanted to compete in; I never said that."
They had to haggle over a plate of snacks.
He's an emperor, surely he wouldn't starve.
Lu Xingjian snorted coldly, pressing on relentlessly: "No way! You have to cook me a meal yourself, otherwise this matter won't be over."
Su Wanwan was already exhausted from his antics, so she had no energy left to cook for herself.
Refuse outright:
"The imperial chefs aren't without their monthly allowances. Just tell them what you want to eat, and no one in the palace would dare to shortchange you."
Lu Xingjian paused, a mischievous smile playing on his lips, and whispered something in her ear.
