Chapter 52
On the day Lin Wan was discharged from the hospital, Chen Yu came to pick her up.
There wasn't much communication between them until they reached the underground garage.
Lin Wan walked in front, and Chen Yu followed her silently.
All the way in silence.
Until they walked in front of Chen Yu's car, Chen Yu seemed to feel that Lin Wan was dressed too thinly, so he took off his leather jacket and put it on her.
He wore only a thin white short-sleeved shirt underneath, the texture and undulations of his muscles faintly visible through the thin fabric. He also accessorized with a silver metal necklace in the familiar shape of a flower, which was even better than nothing.
——Very beautiful muscle lines.
Lin Wan withdrew his gaze.
The leather was black and stiff, and it was a little big for Lin Wan. The hem hung down to Lin Wan's thighs, which was a bit awkward.
There was a faint smell of tobacco and a man's body breath on the jacket.
Lin Wan twisted his shoulders uncomfortably, trying to get rid of the leather jacket.
"I'm not cold." She looked at Chen Yu, her dark pupils reflecting the incandescent light of the underground garage, which was very bright and cold.
Chen Yu did not choose to drive other overly high-profile sports cars, but instead chose a black Land Rover.
He looked at Lin Wan without saying a word, but helped her open the passenger door.
Lin Wan stared at Chen Yu.
In the empty underground parking lot, the air was a little turbid, and only the incandescent lights above illuminated the narrow area.
The atmosphere between the two gradually transitioned from the original pretended calm to a certain tension.
Lin Wan stood there with her calves stretched straight, meeting Chen Yu's gaze without fear.
Perhaps because she had just recovered from a serious illness, there was almost no color on her face, and she was so pale that she seemed like she would faint at any second.
The breathing of both of them gradually became heavier.
In such a confrontation.
Chen Yu took a step towards Lin Wan, his gaze heavy on her face, as if with a tangible touch, moving from her trembling eyelashes to her slightly opened, bloodless lips.
Lin Wan immediately stepped back.
Her slender, soft nails gripped the edge of her leather jacket as she climbed into the car as if nothing had happened.
Chen Yu leaned forward slightly with one hand on the car door, looking at her mischievously with mockery in his eyes.
Lin Wan pretended not to see it and just said, "Close the door."
He could hear his deep laughter in his ears, and Lin Wan looked forward as he fastened his seat belt.
It wasn't until the car reached the main road that the tension in Lin Wan's body finally subsided.
Chen Yu is so different.
"Where are you taking me?"
The road ahead seemed unfamiliar. Lin Wan had not been back for so long that there were two more landmark buildings in Jiangcheng.
"Let's eat." Chen Yu's attitude seemed as if it was a matter of course, and he turned the steering wheel and passed an intersection.
"Just the two of us?"
Lin Wan was a little bit unbelievable. Is this guy crazy?
"Who else do you want to invite?" Chen Yu raised his eyebrows, and his natural attitude made Lin Wan seem abnormal.
"Then it's just the two of us." Lin Wan put his arms into his leather jacket.
Let him freeze to death, she thought to herself.
I originally thought that since Chen Yu had just won an international award, his recent work should be coming one after another and he should be flying around the world.
But at this moment he seemed extremely relaxed, driving slowly and taking her through twists and turns towards the edge of the city.
I don’t know if it was bad luck, but there were red lights almost all the way. Lin Wan was a little annoyed, but Chen Yu still seemed to be in a good mood.
Lin Wan looked at him many times, hesitated several times, and finally asked.
"Qiu Siqi dropping out of school...what does this have to do with you?"
Lin Wan roughly guessed what had happened at that time, but she was still unwilling to believe it.
Chen Yu lightly stepped on the brakes and slowly stopped when there were three seconds left on the green light, causing the cars behind him to become anxious and honk their horns.
The light turned red and the car stopped in the middle of the road.
"Sister, what do you think - has anything to do with me?" He crossed his hands on the steering wheel, looked at her from the side with a smile in his eyes, and asked her. His voice was lazy, but it seemed to have a hook.
Here we go again, this strange name again.
Lin Wan felt that she couldn't bear it any longer and turned to look at Chen Yu.
It was cloudy outside the window, but the sunlight was very strong, making the figures look a little distorted.
"Chen Yu, what kind of person are you?" Lin Wan murmured.
"Me?" Chen Yu smiled.
"It's just your brother." His tone was light, as if he had no worries at all.
"You are a lunatic!"
Lin Wan supported his head with one hand, his emotions starting to spiral out of control.
The scenery by the window flashed by, but she felt a chill in her heart.
From the time Chen Yu invited Qiu Siqi to the rooftop to the time Qiu Siqi committed suicide on the rooftop, only two months had passed. She had no idea what methods Chen Yu had used to transform a proud, beauty-loving girl into the madman she was when they last met.
Lin Wan didn't feel sorry for Qiu Siqi. She even felt a sense of pleasure similar to revenge in her heart at that time.
Qiu Siqi was skilled at winning over people, attempting to isolate herself from the entire class, forcing Lin Wan to hide on the rooftop. This was known to almost everyone in the class, and Chen Yu happened to arrange a meeting with Qiu Siqi at the rooftop she often visited.
Lin Wan initially thought it was a coincidence, or perhaps, on a deeper level, it was some kind of means of drawing a line between them, implying that Chen Yu intended to stay away from her.
This was what she thought at the time, but considering the final result, Chen Yu's purpose became extremely straightforward.
He was trying to gain credit, and kept moving forward in front of him, like a puppy trying to please his master.
Chen Yu wanted to punish Qiu Siqi, and even now, he didn't remember Qiu Siqi's name.
Lin Wan didn't know whether he was like this originally, or whether the atmosphere in his family had an irreversible impact on him, causing him to become unrecognizable.
An appearance as clear and smooth as bamboo, and a heart as dark as water.
"Who taught you to do this? Was it Tang Wanlin?" Lin Wan unconsciously raised his voice, his chest heaving.
Tang Wanlin is really a crazy woman. What did she say to Chen Yu?
"If I say it's her, will you feel sorry for me?"
The light outside the window seemed to be stronger, and the person in front of him became more and more distorted. The skin in front of him appeared delicate and white, and the pupils were dark and staring at Lin Wan.
Lin Wan clutched the corner of her clothes again, not knowing how to respond.
This question is really weird.
"Sister, will you feel sorry for me?" Chen Yu repeated her question.
"Do you think so? Then before..." Lin Wan's voice choked, and she was a little afraid to look at Chen Yu's current appearance.
"Yes, as long as I hide it, I can win your favor. Isn't this a very cost-effective thing?"
The man's voice sounded faintly in his ears, unexpectedly straightforward.
"Win my favor?" Lin Wan was surprised by his choice of words.
"Do you think that what you did will make me like you?"
"Yeah, aren't you unhappy seeing that girl drop out of school, sister?"
Chen Yu looked at Lin Wan, his long eyelashes drooping, casting a delicate shadow.
"happy?"
The last syllable of her voice rose high, and Lin Wan was almost mad with anger. She really didn't know how Chen Yu could become what he was now.
"So, everything is just an act by you."
Lin Wan tried hard to clear her mind. Her voice was obviously trembling, and her body was shaking constantly.
Chen Yu did not answer, but looked at Lin Wan with a serious look in his eyes that Lin Wan could not understand.
“Let me out of the car.”
Lin Wan didn't plan to get entangled with him any longer. He was a complete lunatic and she should leave him as soon as possible.
Go to the UK, now!
Lin Wan thought anxiously.
"Are you thinking about how to get back to England now?" The man's voice sounded, his tone was very dull and without any emotion, like the calm surface of the water.
"What?" Lin Wan couldn't help but retort, "Can you still restrict my actions?"
"Let me out of the car," she repeated, her voice rising.
"No, my sister." Chen Yu's attitude still seemed calm.
"Stop calling me sister, we are not related by blood at all!"
Lin Wan was extremely disgusted.
The next second, the light turned green, and the Land Rover's engine roared as it sped down the avenue. The shadows of the trees flashed past, and Lin Wan's back instantly pressed against the leather seat.
"Chen Yu!" She shouted his name loudly.
"Let's eat first." Chen Yu stepped on the accelerator without looking back.
Lin Wan had no choice but to lean back in his seat.
The car was parked in the underground parking lot of a mountain villa.
As soon as she got out of the car, Lin Wan took off her jacket and threw it to Chen Yu. She felt disgusted wearing clothes from someone like him.
Chen Yu put on the mask and hat he had taken off, leaving only his eyes exposed.
The air in the underground parking lot was stagnant, with a cold, distinctive smell of cement and gasoline.
The second after Lin Wan threw out the clothes, the center of gravity of his body began to shake uncontrollably.
The world was spinning around her, and she was pushed against the wall by him. Her back was against the crude load-bearing wall, and a chill spread along her skin to her heart.
Lin Wan was so frightened that he couldn't stop breathing heavily, and the look in his eyes when he looked at Chen Yu was obviously panicked and cold.
At worst, both sides will be destroyed, she thought with her eyes lowered.
After studying martial arts for so long, it should be more than enough for him to deal with a superstar who looks so fragile. Lin Wan flexed his wrists.
Chen Yu's movements were powerful and unquestionable, but he restrained himself and left room for maneuver at the last moment. The two figures overlapped on the rough wall behind them.
"Why can't you accept me?"
He buried his head in the crook of Lin Wan's neck and asked calmly. His arm was propped up beside her ear, his muscles tense, and the pale blue veins on his forearm bulged slightly, revealing a sense of hidden strength.
Lin Wan could clearly feel the roughness and coldness of the concrete pillar, while in front of him, there was a completely different warmth emanating from his body.
The combination of cold and heat made every inch of her skin extremely sensitive.
"Let me go first," Lin Wan said, her fists clenched, ready to strike. If Chen Yu didn't let her go, she would use force.
The two hadn't seen each other for a long time, and she still didn't want them to fight.
Chen Yu didn't move, his warm breath gently touched Lin Wan's neck through the mask.
He didn't leave, nor did he refuse.
"You clearly said you liked me. Wouldn't it be nice if we could just go back to our previous relationship?"
His voice was a little hoarse and low, and Lin Wan's shoulders felt numb, making people suspect that he was heartbroken.
Lin Wan's throat was choked up, and he finally didn't say what he wanted to say.
She clenched her fists at her sides, waiting to hear what he would say next.
"You want to go to the UK, I won't stop you. I can help you with anything you want to do. I support you in whatever you want to do."
A wronged tone and dependent actions.
If Gu Zhu and the others saw Chen Yu at this moment, they would be shocked. This usually lawless and rebellious man was now so submissive. They would definitely scream in shock and run away.
You have to know that this man would do anything to achieve his own goals. At that time, every noble family in Beijing had experienced that bad feeling.
He would hold on to something he had decided on, tightly gripping it and unwilling to let go even a little.
As the saying goes, you have to hit the snake at its weakest point. Obviously, when dealing with Lin Wan, Chen Yu had completely grasped her weak spot.
He knew that Lin Wan was too soft-hearted, and that if he acted a little pitiful, he could easily gain her forgiveness and a hug. Coincidentally, Chen Yu was happy to play the weakling in front of Lin Wan.
But just hugging was not enough for Chen Yu. He always wanted to go deeper, to get all of Lin Wan, to be close to her, to possess her.
--until they were completely inseparable, like trees with roots entwined together. Then they could die together.
Therefore, Chen Yu needs to confess, tell Lin Wan everything he thinks in his heart, and break the original disguise, so that they can get closer.
Chen Yu lowered his eyes to hide the surging darkness in them.
Lin Wan hesitated. She was about to wave her hand towards Chen Yu, but she slowly loosened her grip and placed it on his shoulder, clinging to him lightly.
The underground parking lot was extremely quiet, with only the occasional sound of vehicle tires scraping across the ground in the distance.
The two leaned on each other, drawing warmth from each other, just like they did many years ago.
It was not until the sound of a car locking was heard in the distance that Lin Wan woke up from a dream and pushed away Chen Yu who was leaning on her.
In fact, she hadn't hugged anyone in a long time. For a moment, Lin Wan's eyes were a little vague. She didn't know how to treat Chen Yu.
"Let's go eat first." She stroked her forehead in frustration. She was once again blocked by Chen Yu's appearance.
Chen Yu continued his efforts, put his palm around Lin Wan's wrist, pulled her fingers, waited for a few seconds, and continued upwards, completely sticking to her palm.
He curved his beautiful eyes and looked at Lin Wan, obviously testing her.
Lin Wan clearly sensed his movements, but did not show any rejection and quietly let Chen Yu lead her forward.
It was not until she took the elevator upstairs that Lin Wan realized why Chen Yu had driven so long to bring her to such a faraway villa.
Seeing Uncle Yang's name in the hall, Lin Wan was a little surprised.
The private restaurant where they had their first meal was owned by Uncle Yang.
But when she returned, she found that the street had been demolished and replaced by a more modern street that was standardized and ordinary.
The identical standard signs, the same colors and fonts, completely conceal the original characteristics of each store, making it no longer as bustling and lively as before.
It turned out that Uncle Yang had opened a larger villa, and Lin Wan felt inexplicably relieved.
Although things are always changing, fortunately, some things have not changed until now.
A waiter led them into the reception hall.
The high roof and gorgeous crystal chandeliers, the light is obviously cleverly refracted, casting mottled and flowing light and shadows on the marble floor.
Obviously recognizing Chen Yu's identity, the waitress who was responsible for picking them up jumped up excitedly the moment she saw Chen Yu, and even the hat that was originally tightly fitted on her head became tilted.
She had a very high level of professionalism. After a brief but surging emotion, she quickly resumed her role as a waitress, said "sorry", and tried her best to lead them to a more secluded path.
It was a typical Chinese courtyard design with winding paths leading to secluded places. If there was no waiter to lead the way, Lin Wan felt that he would soon get lost in this huge manor.
"Goodbye, boss."
The girl leading the way bowed and said goodbye, then bent down, closed the door and walked out of the room.
Lin Wan was surprised by her address, thinking that the girl was probably too excited and called the wrong name. She looked up at Chen Yu beside her and said nothing.
Chen Yu explained to her with great interest: "I invested some money in Uncle Yang and became a shareholder."
After he finished speaking, he stared at Lin Wan's expression, a familiar look of seeking credit. If he had a tail behind him, it would probably be wagging non-stop.
Lin Wan smiled, ignored him, and looked down at the surroundings.
She didn't know if she was too sensitive, but she always felt that the layout of the room in front of her was particularly familiar, an inexplicable sense of familiarity, as if she had been here before.
Lin Wan frowned and thought carefully about his feelings.
Chen Yu walked to the table and dutifully pulled out the chair for her, extending his hand and making a gesture of invitation.
Lin Wan ignored him and pulled out a chair to sit down opposite him.
Chen Yu just lowered his eyes and smiled, his tone soft and gentle: "Isn't it good to sit on the chair over here? Come and sit here."
Lin Wan raised the corners of her lips at him without a smile.
"That's enough." She reached out to pull at his shirt hem: "Sit down."
Chen Yu paused in his tracks, glanced at Lin Wan with an unknown emotion in his eyes, and then sat down obediently.
This interruption shattered Lin Wan's original strange sense of familiarity.
Lin Wan supported his head with one hand and looked around the room boredly again. It was still familiar, and this feeling reached its peak when the food was served.
"Are you interested?" She stared at the yellow croaker in front of her and raised her eyes to look at the man opposite.
It wasn't until the yellow croaker was served that she finally understood where that familiar feeling came from. Chen Yu recreated that meal exactly as it was back then.
The same furnishings, the same menu, and even the seat she just sat in was where she sat six years ago.
"Just trying to please you."
Chen Yu spoke slowly, using a serving chopstick to pick the meat from the belly of the yellow croaker.
"Don't touch this!" Lin Wan grabbed his hand violently. "Do you still want to go to the hospital?"
"Can you accompany me to the hospital again?" Chen Yu stared at Lin Wan's palm covering the back of his hand and asked lightly, looking indifferent.
"You're crazy!" Lin Wan almost laughed out of anger: "Give yourself an allergy so I can accompany you to the hospital?"
"Isn't it possible?" Chen Yu asked back, looking at Lin Wan with moist eyes.
"You can try and see if I will go with you."
Lin Wan felt that he was being unreasonable and was about to withdraw her hand.
But the moment he pulled it back, it was grasped by another hand with distinct knuckles.
There was warmth when the skin touched.
