Chapter 51

Chapter 51

The door was pushed open from the outside and Chen Yu walked in wearing black pajamas.

He seemed extremely sleepy, his eyelids drooped and his long eyelashes cast a delicate shadow.

Lin Wan watched his movements out of the corner of her eye. The strength of the hand holding the pen continued to increase, and the plastic shell stuck tightly to the skin of her fingers.

He walked towards her and placed the glass in his hand on the table, his slender white fingers bent against the wall of the glass.

The milky white sweet milk swayed in the glass, almost overflowing.

His wrist joints were protruding, forming a sharp transition with his strong forearms.

The skin is delicate and white, with a faint hint of blue. When you get close, you can seem to feel the blood flowing in it, telling of the surging vitality beneath the calm appearance.

Lin Wan turned his attention back to the exercise in front of him, but the physics symbols began to distort and gradually became unrecognizable.

She reached out and rubbed her brows, trying to calm herself down quickly.

Chen Yu loosened his grip on the milk. He stood to Lin Wan's left. From her angle, Lin Wan couldn't see his expression. Even with her peripheral vision at full power, she could only see Chen Yu's slightly tense jaw.

Let’s leave quickly, Lin Wan began to urge in his heart.

But Chen Yu was obviously unwilling to do as she wished.

"Sister, are you mad at me?"

His attitude seemed a little relaxed, and he asked lazily.

Lin Wan's back muscles tensed instantly, and her originally smooth movements stopped in place. She tilted her head stiffly and paused again halfway.

"Why do you think so?" she asked, trying to act as if it was none of her business.

The person next to him seemed to laugh. Lin Wan thought he would continue to say something, but Chen Yu did not stay.

Lin Wan couldn't tell the meaning behind that laugh, and forced herself to stay seated without moving.

Chen Yu left and the door was closed.

Lin Wan stubbornly continued to sit in his seat, staring at the exercises he had been working on for half a day without turning a page.

Outside the window was the usual cloudy day, covering the entire city in gray like a piece of dirty cloth.

It was early morning when Lin Wan woke up. In the elegant single ward, faint gray morning light came through the window, and dust was floating in the light.

Except for the subtle beeping of the heart rate monitor, the whole room was silent.

Lin Wan tried to move her arms, but it was difficult, barely enough to move them. She exhaled deeply and collapsed on the bed.

About two minutes later, a nurse came hurriedly and told Lin Wan after a thorough examination.

"Your boyfriend is so nice to you. He stayed by your side for two days without moving."

Lin Wan guessed she was talking about Chen Yu. She tilted her head and looked around, but she didn't see Chen Yu.

"Where are the others?" Lin Wan subconsciously ignored the ambiguous address. Perhaps because she hadn't had water for a long time, her throat felt dry and tight.

"It is said that she had a job and was forced to work." The nurse smiled and slowed down the intravenous injection for her, and got her a glass of water from the water dispenser.

"You are so lucky to have such a famous boyfriend." The young nurse winked at her.

"He's not my boyfriend." Lin Wan took the water, held it over the water and took a sip, saying it very restrainedly.

The young nurse gave Lin Wan a look that said, "Don't pretend, I understand everything." "Yes, Mr. Chen doesn't have a girlfriend."

Lin Wan laughed and didn't continue explaining.

"This is the cell phone Mr. Chen brought you." The nurse pointed to Lin Wan's bedside table.

"OK."

"Get some rest and don't stay up late."

The nurse gave a few words of caution and left. The young girl had a dark patch under her eyes.

Lin Wan had planned to sleep there, but her recent sleep schedule had been too chaotic, and she kept moving on the bed, unable to fall asleep again.

What should contemporary young people do when they can’t sleep?

Of course, open your phone and watch short videos.

Lin Wan obeyed her heart and opened the video software. According to her previous personality, she would never allow herself to indulge herself like this.

But now it’s different, Lin Zhen has passed away.

The only person she had worked so hard for, just to prove something to him, disappeared.

A part of the order in Lin Wan's life has disappeared. If there was always a breath of order that kept her going, she would continue to move forward.

So now, that breath is gone.

Overnight, Lin Wan acquired nearly 100 million worth of Lin Zhen's property and shares.

She went from being an international student who had to skimp on her food to a nouveau riche.

Such a sum of money is enough for Lin Wan to live the rest of her life in peace. She is even thinking about whether she needs to return to the UK to complete her studies.

After all, I don't need it at all now.

What a happy thing.

In the darkness, Lin Wan opened her eyes wide and thought, she felt that she should laugh out loud to celebrate that she had finally gained the freedom she had longed for.

She tried to lift her lips, but as the corners of her lips lifted, tears also flowed down.

Looking back, she achieved nothing and had nothing.

The faint light from the phone screen reflected onto Lin Wan's face, creating large shadows and highlights that made Lin Wan's face look even a little scary.

She casually clicked to skip it, but accidentally clicked on the first screen promotion. It seemed to be a live broadcast, with movie stars in gorgeous costumes walking on the red carpet one by one.

The background commentary was a foreign male voice that sounded a bit deep.

Lin Wan watched bored for a long time. When the movie star on the stage began to give his acceptance speech, Lin Wan's confused mind belatedly realized that this was an award ceremony.

The award music on the screen seemed inspiring. The camera swept across the Chinese and foreign movie stars in the seats one by one. Among the foreign stars with very three-dimensional facial features, there were occasionally a few relatively calm-looking Oriental faces.

Lin Wan lay on his side in bed, holding his cell phone in the hand that was not receiving the injection, intending to fall asleep peacefully during this grand award ceremony.

Although it was almost midnight, netizens were still enthusiastic. Nearly 100 million people watched the entire live broadcast room, and barrages of comments kept crossing the screen.

Lin Wan felt that the barrage of comments was too dazzling, so she turned it off and watched the award ceremony with a blank face.

She had never known much about this kind of activities, and didn't even understand the meaning behind this award.

The female movie star on the stage gave her acceptance speech excitedly. She was wearing a black petticoat, and her white and thin skin looked loose, but her eyes were still shining.

She had a very authentic London accent, and even with her eyes closed, Lin Wan could imagine the tight curve of her upper lip when she spoke.

She said that she had thought she would have to fight for this award all her life, but she did not expect the surprise to come quietly before her 50th birthday, and she did not even have time to prepare a brightly colored dress.

She said, those who once looked down on me, rolled their eyes and mocked me, did you see it?

Mom, did you see it?

Her voice trembled, but her smile grew even brighter.

Lin Wan's eyelashes trembled slightly, and the softest part of her heart was filled with bitterness.

Through the screen, thousands of kilometers away and separated by time differences, she saw this amazing actress walk down the podium holding the golden trophy amid the applause of the crowd.

The host on the stage started talking about the link, but Lin Wan was still immersed in the acceptance speech of the previous award-winning star.

This was what Lin Wan had originally intended to do to Tang Wanlin. She stood in front of them as if she was full of honors and a successful career.

Tell them that I am finally no longer the cowardly and ambitious little girl I was back then.

But Lin Zhen died.

Lin Wan suddenly felt that the pride he had fought for for so long was actually not that important.

Rather than receiving their admiring looks, Lin Wan found that she actually wanted to receive their hugs more.

She casually placed her cell phone on the pillow while the award ceremony on the other side of the blue planet continued.

It was almost dawn, but the city was still asleep.

Tears filled her eyes and slid down along the lines of her skin, gradually breaking the pillowcase.

Lin Wan finally burst into tears.

Lin Zhen, why didn't you leave later? Why didn't you wait until she laid out all her achievements in front of him before leaving?

Lin Wan was very unwilling.

A familiar voice called out from the live broadcast beside him, but Lin Wan didn't pay attention to it at first.

But when the familiar voice with the sound of electricity came to Lin Wan's ears through the mobile phone receiver, she remained where she was.

It’s Chen Yu.

Ever since he entered the Lin family, this thought had crossed Lin Wan's mind countless times.

Chen Yu always infiltrates into her life at some point, just right, until he completely permeates every corner of her life.

Chen Yu's English pronunciation is very standard, very rhythmic, and a little hoarse.

He looked much more mature than when they first met, his delicate makeup appearing cold and hard under the light. Perhaps only through the screen and the ocean did Lin Wan dare to scrutinize his features so unscrupulously.

The boy who was once within her reach was now so far away from her that he was almost out of reach.

Lin Wan couldn't help but ask herself if this was the result she really wanted.
