"Then you don't mind that I'm carrying another man's child?" Mu Chenshuang asked defiantly, her clear eyes fixed on him, as if trying to see through his eyes to his innermost thoughts.
Fu Junheng knew very well why she asked that question; she had long suspected it, and that was why he wanted to avoid her gaze.
"All I want is you."
An emotionless tone echoed in the quiet, still space.
Mu Chenshuang stared at him, and suddenly, she laughed, the meaning of which was unclear. Although she was laughing, there was no emotion in her eyes.
"Is that so! Then what role do you want me to stay by your side in?" Mu Chenshuang asked in a cold voice, her dark and deep eyes making it impossible to see what she was thinking.
"What kind of identity do you want?" he countered.
Mu Chenshuang confronted him with a domineering attitude, saying, "I'm asking you this. If you can't answer, then why do you think I should stay by your side, as a plaything for your whims?"
Fu Junheng remained silent, unable to answer the question.
Seeing that he remained silent and did not answer, Mu Chenshuang coldly withdrew her gaze, a mocking smile curving her lips, and said, "Since you can't think of anything, then don't say such unrealistic things in the future. I can pretend I didn't hear what you just said."
In an instant.
The surrounding air suddenly froze, as if all the warmth from before had vanished.
Mu Chenshuang stepped away from his embrace and walked straight ahead. She slightly raised her chin and lowered her eyes, concealing the soreness in them, but what was there for her to be so upset about?
Fu Junheng stared intently at Mu Chenshuang's increasingly distant, aloof figure, his heart feeling as if it were being pierced by needles.
Mu Chenshuang sat on a rock, looking up into the distance, letting the breeze caress her face, but a restless feeling lingered in her heart. Gazing at the lush green leaves and apricot blossoms in the distance, even with such a breathtaking view, she felt no desire to appreciate it.
Fu Junheng stopped and stood beside her.
No one spoke again.
Time passed second by second.
As darkness fell, the temperature on the mountain dropped even lower.
Even though Mu Chenshuang was wearing a man's robe, she still felt the cold.
Fu Junheng lowered his eyes to look at the woman beside him and said in a low voice, "It's time to go back."
Mu Chenshuang did not respond to him; she didn't even want to say a word to him now.
However.
The man bent over backwards, slipped his arms under the woman's knees, and casually lifted her up.
Mu Chenshuang realized what was happening and said with extreme resistance, "Fu Junheng, put me down."
However, Fu Junheng showed no intention of letting go. He leaped into the air, carrying Mu Chenshuang with him.
Mu Chenshuang did not make any futile struggles.
But at this moment, her heart was calm and undisturbed.
Back in the meditation room.
Mu Chenshuang thought he was going to take her down the mountain, but she didn't expect him to stay here for a vegetarian meal.
She was indeed very hungry and just wanted to fill her stomach, so she didn't refuse.
During the meal.
Fu Junheng would occasionally serve her food, which, although all vegetarian, were delicious and visually appealing.
"Feng Ji must have more than one piece of leverage over Chengtianjian, right?" Mu Chenshuang looked up at him and asked. This was the purpose of her meeting, and it was what she and he should discuss. As for anything else, it shouldn't exist, and she shouldn't think about it too much.
