Shen Nanzhi replied, "His Majesty actually intends to weaken Lord Mu's military power, but he just didn't expect it to happen so quickly."
Mu Chenshuang sensed another layer of meaning in Shen Nanzhi's words, "What do you think is the reason?"
Shen Nanzhi glanced at Mu Chenshuang, his eyes deep. He then looked away and slowly said, "Crown Prince Junheng said he is willing to exchange the mining rights of Xiling Mine for the condition of marrying you."
Mu Chenshuang's pupils dilated in shock.
"His Majesty has not given a reply, but he has not refused either. Perhaps he is worried that if Fu Junheng insists on taking you away, His Majesty will have no way to stop him."
Mu Chenshuang slowly lowered her eyes, her heart tightening suddenly. "So His Majesty is worried that if I really go to Xiyue Kingdom, the power in my father's hands will be a potential danger to him. But in the end, it's the emperor who is too suspicious. A slight move by someone else can arouse his suspicion. But throughout history, how many meritorious officials have been able to remain unscathed in high positions and retire after achieving their goals? It's only a matter of time before the Marquis's mansion is targeted."
Fu Junheng's actions may have been the catalyst for Feng Guche's decision.
Shen Nanzhi's eyes were deep and dark, with a glint of darkness in them beneath his long lashes. After a long while, he asked, "Shuang'er, have you ever thought about leaving with Crown Prince Junheng?"
Mu Chenshuang glanced sideways and met Shen Nanzhi's deep eyes. There seemed to be some emotions swirling within them, but he suppressed them and dared not show them too much.
She didn't answer directly, but simply said, "We'll talk about the future when it comes. No matter how much we're sure about now, it's all uncertain in the future. At least I love him now, and I have no intention of breaking up with him."
Shen Nanzhi's eyes dimmed, but a slight smile appeared on his lips. "No matter what happens in the future, I will always stand by Shuang'er's side."
Mu Chenshuang smiled gently, "Thank you."
After Shen Nanzhi escorted Mu Chenshuang back to the Marquis's residence, she did not stay there for long. Instead, she arranged for another carriage to go to Yaoguang Residence.
Upon arriving at Yaoguang Residence, Mu Chenshuang was immediately taken to the hot spring pavilion in the bamboo grove in the backyard.
The guard pushed open the door, and Mu Chenshuang walked in gracefully. The pavilion was shrouded in mist. In the pool, a man leaned against the bank with his arms at his sides. His silver hair clung to his back, with the ends hanging down into the water.
He was enveloped in a thin mist, which softened his cool and deep features.
Mu Chenshuang stepped forward, stopped, and slowly knelt down beside him. She placed her fingers on his pulse and asked, "Where do you feel unwell?"
After taking her pulse, she didn't notice anything unusual.
Fu Junheng slowly opened his eyes, revealing a pair of golden pupils with a soft light. He stood up abruptly, and with a splash, water slid down his well-defined muscles as he walked naked out of the pool.
Mu Chenshuang's pupils dilated. Although she had seen and touched his body countless times, the sight of him standing so openly in front of her was so visually stimulating that it was particularly impactful when she was fully conscious.
Mu Chenshuang blushed and turned her gaze away resentfully.
Fu Junheng noticed and caught the shy expression on Mu Chenshuang's face, which relieved his restlessness, and a smile appeared on his lips.
He walked behind Mu Chenshuang, put his hands around her waist and pulled her into his arms. He nodded and teased, "I've seen it before, Shuang'er, what are you shy about?"
Mu Chenshuang lowered her eyes and said irritably, "Why don't you go and put your clothes on?"
