Chapter 9

Chapter 9

Gu Yuan woke up and smelled a fragrance. She was stunned for a moment and didn't react. When she saw the calendar, she became more sober. She walked out of the bedroom and saw Feifei busy in the kitchen.

Gu Yuan: "Are you hungry? I'll make you something to eat."

"No need." Feifei didn't look back and stirred the soup. "I've made beef noodles."

Gu Yuan was stunned. She loved beef noodles, but at the moment she was more concerned about Feifei's tone, which had changed a lot from before.

"What's going on today? What's wrong with you?"

"It's okay, I made it for you."

"Thank you." Gu Yuan took the bowl blankly and glanced towards the kitchen. The chopping board was empty and there was only some noodle soup left in the pot. It seemed that there was only one bowl.

She turned to look at Lin An, who was sitting on the sofa and shook his head at her.

Gu Yuan didn't ask any more questions. She walked to the dining table with the bowl of hot beef noodles, lowered her head and picked up a piece of beef noodles with chopsticks. It tasted very fragrant, and she finished it slowly.

After washing the dishes and coming out of the kitchen, she saw the magic circle on the floor at a glance. Feifei was standing at the edge of the magic circle waiting for her.

Gu Yuan stepped in without saying anything. Lin An glanced at her briefly and said nothing. He just picked up a book from the bookshelf next to him and flipped through it casually.

She lowered her head, her eyes clearly on the book, but she didn't notice a single word. When Gu Yuan tried for the fifth time, she called for a stop.

Gu Yuan turned around and met Lin An's calm gaze. She said, "Don't be too eager for quick success."

"Almost there."

Gu Yuan shook his head, his tone carrying a hint of stubbornness that he himself hadn't noticed. "It's really almost there. Can you let me try again?"

Lin An closed the book and said, "I didn't discuss this with you."

Gu Yuan wanted to fight for it again, but was blocked by Feifei's eyes.

Feifei shook her head at her, and with a wave of her hand in the air, the magic circle on the floor was wiped out, leaving no trace.

Gu Yuan sighed and was about to stand up when Lin An stepped forward and extended his hand.

She looked up at Lin An's face. His eyes and brows were still as calm as usual, with no trace of anger. She breathed a sigh of relief and stood up with the force.

After Lin An pulled her up, he turned around without saying another word, walked back to the sofa, sat down, and picked up the book again.

Gu Yuan stood there, and Feifei came over from the side, "Go and have a rest."

Gu Yuan nodded, turned and went into the bedroom. She lay down on the bed and curled up to relieve the pain.

Because of the pain, her consciousness gradually faded and she fell asleep soon.

In the living room, Feifei looked at the person on the sofa and said slowly, "Master, are you... regretting this?"

Lin An turned the page and said calmly, "Be careful, her body can't handle it."

Feifei nodded and added, "Your Excellency can actually teach her yourself."

Lin An paused as he flipped through the pages of the book and refused, "I don't want to."

Feifei laughed. The reason was direct enough. She didn't ask any more questions. She tapped on the screen, flipping through her favorite recipes, thinking about what to cook in the afternoon.

Gu Yuan was sleeping soundly in the bedroom when he was suddenly awakened by the vibration of his cell phone.

She groped for her phone in a daze, and when she heard Jia Jia's voice, she asked, "What's wrong? Jia Jia."

"I brought back all the books you left at school. My homeroom teacher has something for me to tell you. Can you please come out for a moment?"

"Don't you know where my house is? Just come in."

Du Jiajia's voice on the other end was a little awkward: "Gu Yuan, I, I don't dare to go in..."

Gu Yuan sighed: "Okay, I'll go out."

She put on her clothes, opened the bedroom door and walked out.

In the living room, Lin An was still sitting on the sofa reading a book, while Feifei was leaning against the window looking at her phone. When they heard the noise, they both looked over at the same time.

"I'm going to go out for a while."

Lin An looked up from the page and replied, "Yeah."

Feifei's consciousness followed Gu Yuan out and landed on the curious girl not far away. She couldn't help but say, "That girl is so timid."

The two met under the old sycamore tree at the entrance of the alley. Coincidentally, it was the place where the monster had been lurking last time.

Before Gu Yuan walked under the tree, the shadow trembled slightly. Feifei turned to look at Lin An in the living room.

"It's just a little thing, let her play with it."

After a while, she changed her tone and said, "Go and look after her."

Feifei responded and disappeared from the windowsill in an instant.

Seeing Gu Yuan coming, Du Jiajia just lifted the pile of books over, and the ground under her feet cracked into a black crack, and a wet touch wrapped around her ankle.

Suddenly, she was pulled towards the shadow, her schoolbag fell to the ground, and her textbooks were scattered all over the floor.

Gu Yuan reached out to grab it, but the same force entangled his ankles and he stumbled into the sticky darkness.

When the feeling of weightlessness suddenly disappeared, the two fell down and Du Jiajia kept coughing.

She covered her arm and climbed up, patted Gu Yuan, and said in a trembling voice: "This is a monster, Sister An... Have you ever taught you how to deal with this kind of thing?"

Gu Yuan propped himself up, shook his head when he heard this, and his heart sank: "I haven't even started teaching anything yet."

"Then...then are we finished?" Du Jiajia's voice was filled with tears as she stared at the creeping darkness around her.

Gu Yuan gritted his teeth and pulled her arm: "Don't panic, hold on for a while, they will definitely come when they find out we are gone."

"When they come," Du Jiajia sniffed, "will we both be able to breathe?"

"I don't know." Gu Yuan pulled her forward, the ground beneath their feet was sticky as if they were stepping into mud, "Let's run first and tell me later."

The two of them stumbled and ran for a few steps, and suddenly they ran into a cold transparent barrier in front of them.

With a dull thud, Du Jiajia's forehead was hit and hurt. The barrier was emitting a faint light, blocking the retreat route. A sound was heard from behind, and the two turned around, and the thing finally appeared.

It was like a puddle of mud piled up randomly, barely forming an outline, but black mud kept dripping down from the edges, as if it would completely melt in the next second, yet it stubbornly maintained its distorted shape.

"It's a lot slower,"

Gu Yuan stared at the movement of the thing and said, "Let's go around it from both sides and run back."

"How do I get around it?" Du Jiajia had just asked when the mud suddenly threw out a sticky tentacle and wrapped around her ankle.

"Jia Jia."

Gu Yuan screamed and tried to pull, but at this moment, a force suddenly surged out of his body and tiny white lights appeared on his hands.

She swung her hand and chopped at the tentacles. The moment the white light hit the black mud, there was a sizzling sound, and the tentacles actually shrank.

But the force was too weak, and more tentacles surged from all directions, surrounding the two of them like a black tide.

Gu Yuan tried her best to swing the white light, but she could only cut a few of them. More tentacles had already wrapped around her arms, and the cold and slippery touch made her whole body go goosebumps.

She watched Du Jiajia being swept off the ground, but she herself was clamped tightly and could hardly even struggle.
