There's no use in crying anymore now that her son is gone. The people in the ward are just laughing at her. Liu He leans against the bed silently, staring at the corner with a stern face. Ma Mingyue wipes away her tears and gets a little anxious.
"Is what my aunt and cousin-in-law said true? Does she mean we have to stay here indefinitely? It's not convenient here, and the weather is so hot, I'm afraid you won't be able to stand it. Why don't we talk to my cousin and ask him to take us back?"
"Pah! That's my son's house, why are you kicking me out? No, I can live wherever I want. She made me sick and now I have to recover in the hospital. I need to send a telegram home to the Ye family and demand an explanation. I need to ask them how they raised their daughter to treat her mother-in-law like this!"
Ma Mingyue dared not respond. What was the point of asking the Ye family for an explanation? The Ye family wouldn't criticize her cousin-in-law, and even if she went to her aunt's husband now, he probably wouldn't take it to heart.
Nobody knew that my cousin's wife would actually turn the tables on her. Knowing that my aunt didn't want to leave and wanted to stay in the hospital a little longer, she put my cousin's wife in a very difficult position. She simply cleared out all her belongings, not caring at all what people would say. Sigh.
"Auntie, the Ye family lives so far away, and they can't control my cousin-in-law now, so why don't we—"
"No way! I won't go back until she kneels down and apologizes to me!"
Unbeknownst to her, Liu He's demands had shifted from insisting that the two of them divorce to simply asking Ye Man to come and kneel down and apologize to her. This was quite a retreat.
Unfortunately, Liu He sat on the hospital bed waiting and waiting, but instead of Ye Man's tearful outburst, she saw Ye Man come over carrying a bundle, followed by her son who was also carrying a large bundle.
Liu He: "..."
Liu He felt a sudden darkness engulf her vision and couldn't breathe. She thought Ye Man was just joking and that her son would disagree when he went back. But she didn't expect that not only did Ye Man bring the things, but her son even helped carry an even bigger bundle later. Liu He felt a throbbing pain in her head.
Ma Mingyue clutched her clothes and gave a dry laugh, "Sister-in-law, Auntie is feeling much better, she doesn't need to stay in the hospital for so long..."
"How can that be? Mom's health isn't good, so she needs to stay here and rest until she gets better. Otherwise, I, as her daughter-in-law, won't feel at ease."
After saying that, he put the bundle on the table, took out two lunch boxes from it, and handed them to Ma Mingyue. "I also put the food coupons in here. You can get meals for Mom at the canteen later. I'll be troubling you a lot during this time."
Ma Mingyue was caught in a dilemma: whether to accept the offer or not. Oh no, she was here to be a nanny!
He looked at his cousin for help, but his cousin ignored him and put the bundle in his hand on the bed.
"Mom, you stay here for now, I'll come over whenever I have time."
Liu He, panting heavily like an old ox, grabbed the lunchbox Ye Man had placed beside her. Ye Man quickly squatted down, and before He Zhangcheng could react, the metal lunchbox hit him on the head with a "smack," raising a large bump.
He Zhangcheng froze, standing there clutching his head, unresponsive. The metal lunchbox fell to the ground with a thud, then rolled once. Ye Man looked at the two metal lunchboxes and patted her chest in relief, thankful that she had reacted quickly; if they had hit her head, she wouldn't have recovered for days.
Ma Mingyue: "Cousin, are you alright?"
Ma Mingyue was more than startled. Her aunt only had her cousin as a child and placed all her hopes on him. She had never spoken harshly to her cousin before, and this was the first time she had ever hit him with something. Good heavens, it hurt just looking at that big lump.
"You unfilial brat! All these years I've raised you have been wasted! Bah! I...I...I..."
Liu He was still looking for something when she ripped the needle out of her hand. There was a half-eaten apple on the table, which she grabbed and was about to throw. This time, He Zhangcheng reacted and dodged backward. Liu He used all her strength, and the apple hit the wall and fell down after a while, leaving a mark on the wall.
"How could you do this to me? You unfilial wretch! You kicked your old mother out! I traveled all this way here, who have I been working for all my life?! Huh? Do you have any conscience?"
Liu He's anger towards her son now far exceeds her anger towards Ye Man. Ye Man is, after all, an outsider, while her son came from her womb. This bastard treats his mother like this because of a woman he's known for a few years. Liu He feels that decades of hard work have been wasted.
She yanked the blanket off and was about to get up when, thankfully, the nurse who had heard the commotion had already rushed over. She pushed open the door and glared angrily at the person inside.
"If you want to argue, go outside! Other people need to rest."
Everyone else in the ward was lying in bed, pretending not to exist, only their eyes were visible as they watched the commotion over there.
Ma Mingyue was afraid that her aunt would hit her cousin in a fit of anger. She couldn't let things continue like this, or her cousin and aunt would become enemies. So she quickly went over and tearfully tried to persuade Liu He.
"Auntie, don't be angry. Your cousin is only doing this for your own good. Let's get better before we go back."
Ye Man picked up the metal lunchbox from the ground, held it in her hand, and walked to the door, looking at the nurse apologetically. "I'm really sorry, the old lady is afraid of being hospitalized. We, as her children, will try to persuade her."
This family is making such a scene, aren't they afraid of being laughed at? The nurse waved her hand, indicating that they should wipe the marks off the wall later.
"No matter what, hospital rooms are for staying in, not for arguing. If you keep arguing, you're out."
"Okay, okay, we understand."
