CHAPTER 69
Meng Yunxi opened his eyes and stared at the woman in front of him who claimed to be his wife for a long time before he could recover.
"What, you forgot again?"
The woman's loving gaze seemed genuine, and his body responded with obvious joy at her intimacy.
The woman affectionately rubbed her face against his ear, and the tips of his ears quickly turned red and hot. He thought to himself that it was so itchy, but his body involuntarily moved closer.
Where is this place?
Meng Yunxi regained his senses and looked around. He and his so-called wife seemed to be lying in a small, square box, well, like a coffin.
coffin?
Meng Yunxi was about to ask a question when the woman in front of her suddenly changed her expression, looking as if she were facing a formidable enemy.
"Oh no, you should hide first, I'll handle this." The woman gently pushed him away, deftly lifted the coffin lid, and got up to leave.
Just a second before the coffin lid closed, he glimpsed a handsome young man through the crack, his anger mixed with a smile, and softly called out to him.
"Sister, I've been looking for you for ages." It sounded like a complaint, but also like enjoyment.
The coffin lid closed, and light and sound disappeared together; he did not hear her reply.
Who is she? Is she really his wife?
Who is that handsome young man? They seem to have a close relationship. He clearly calls her "sister," so why does she look like she's about to get into trouble?
He didn't know how much time had passed; perhaps it just felt like an eternity, as if half a century had gone by.
The coffin lid was lifted, and light streamed in. She had returned, along with a faint smell of blood. Meng Yunxi frowned slightly.
Was she injured?
He tried to ask a question, but found his throat was a little unresponsive.
"Oh dear! I'm sorry, Xu Pei said you're still recovering and very vulnerable. I'll come see you after I've changed and washed up." The woman wiped the blood from her sleeve and face, smiled apologetically at him, and then disappeared from his sight.
This was the second time Meng Yunxi had seen this woman who claimed to be his wife. Wait, it doesn't seem like that.
"Captain, it's me, Sheng Qing. Do you remember me?" The woman carefully helped him up from the coffin.
He held onto the edge of the coffin with one hand and used Sheng Qing's seemingly weak but strong shoulder with the other to slowly stand up.
Several unfamiliar faces appeared before him, and images flashed through his mind, as if he had known them all before and had gone through thick and thin together.
"Captain, you've come to see us."
"It looks like you've recovered quite a bit."
"Captain, you need to recover quickly so we can team up again to explore the secret realm."
"The mysterious person's request comes with a very generous reward!"
"Do you think the captain is that kind of person? Do you think everyone is as greedy as you are?"
...
When Meng Yunxi woke up for the third time, Sheng Qing handed her an old, yellowed book with crooked, celestial script on the cover.
"Captain, please help me take a look. We need to think of a new way." Sheng Qing casually wiped the fine sweat from his forehead, looking as if he had just been through a big battle.
Meng Yunxi took it and casually flipped through a page. The previously unfamiliar characters became familiar and easy to understand. This was a book about restrictions.
"Sister, you'd better put in some effort, I'm about to break this barrier." A distant, ethereal voice drifted over, carrying a hint of mockery and threat. "Next time, I won't be so lenient and let you off so easily."
"Stop talking nonsense. You said the same thing last time. If you're so capable, then show me how to break it." Sheng Qing's tone was full of energy, but in the blink of an eye, he put on a pitiful expression. "Captain, you'd better step up your game. That guy Blake isn't just all talk."
"Hmm," Meng Yunxi responded softly, "Don't you think we should leave here first?"
"Oh, right." Sheng Qing realized what was happening, rolled over and came in, closed the coffin lid, accidentally bumped into Meng Yunxi's arm, and hurriedly added, "Sorry, let's squeeze in for a bit."
When did she become so distant? Isn't she my wife?
Before Meng Yunxi could think about it in detail, she suddenly felt a special fluctuation when the space changed, which stopped after a while.
Meng Yunxi's periods of lucidity were becoming longer and longer. He keenly sensed Sheng Qing's increasingly respectful and distant attitude. For some reason, he always felt that the day he fully recovered, she would leave him.
Meanwhile, the handsome young man was visiting them more and more frequently. Their situations had reversed, from easily trapping him at the beginning to now fleeing in disarray.
Perhaps she felt she would drag him down?
Is there a precedent to learn from?
Meng Yunxi smiled, then buried her head again, focusing intently on studying how to create a restraint system that could trap people.
Sheng Qing returned in a sorry state once again. She hesitated before speaking, saying that she wanted to get involved herself and lead Blake into some kind of secret realm in the sea of consciousness, so that the guy could clash with another guy who also sounded despicable.
Meng Yunxi, unable to understand these strange words, interrupted, "Take a look at this formation; it should be able to trap him for a while longer."
It's not yet time for her to get involved.
He chased her as she fled, and from behind, he devised a plan to trap her.
It's never far enough.
The End.
