Chapter 247 My Mindset Has Changed

Two flowers bloom, each representing a different branch.

On Mu Yi'an's side, the shop is already set up, and Jiang Shuyun's literacy booklet has been finalized. Everything is developing in a good direction.

Jiang's parents returned from the prefectural city to the county town, but did not stop and went straight back to Jiangjia Village.

They've been gone for several months, and they need to go home first to check on Jiang Lan, who is still some time away from giving birth.

Butler Li and Zhao Wu escorted the old master and old lady safely to Jiangjia Village. They didn't linger and returned to the county town without stopping to go to the manor.

Jiang's wife was surprised by her parents-in-law's sudden return, but seeing that her two daughters had clearly changed, she felt grateful.

"Father, Mother, why didn't you send a message before you came back? We could have come to pick you up."

"Butler Li and the others brought us back, why bother you anymore? Is everything alright at home?"

Jiang's father went inside; he wanted to lie down for a while because he was feeling a bit seasick.

"All is well. Shuheng is busy with school affairs, and recently there have been several more children."

"Mom, how's my second sister-in-law? She's pregnant with twins, it must be tough for her, right?"

"Yes, my belly is quite big, and it's growing quite fast. But everything is fine, and I had a smooth delivery."

Jiang's mother observed that Yi'an was in a really good state. She wasn't overthinking things, was doing what she needed to do, and with her eldest son-in-law looking after her, there were no problems.

"After we left, did you go to see Jiang Lan?"

“I’ve visited her a few times. My sister-in-law is doing well, and her belly is quite big. I visited her five days ago. She looked good, but I’m a little worried. What if her first child isn’t a son?”

Jiang's sister-in-law and her husband's younger sister have always had a good relationship. Although there was an element of flattery involved in the past, she genuinely cares about her husband's younger sister.

"What? You're afraid you're not having a son? What is Jiang Lan thinking? A son or a daughter, aren't they all your children?"

At a time like this, instead of thinking about taking good care of your health, you're just thinking about useless things.

Jiang's mother was a little worried. Jiang Lan was impatient, competitive, and couldn't endure hardship or fatigue.

"Mother, did you and Father rush back because my sister-in-law gave birth?"

"Yes, childbirth is a life-or-death matter for women, how could your father and I not come back?"

"Alright, go check on Chutong and Chuqing, I'm going to rest for a bit too. I'm really exhausted, just going out like this has left me feeling completely drained."

Granny Xing helped Jiang's mother and escorted her into the house to rest.

Jiang's wife moved into the west wing, where her two daughters now live.

"Chu Tong, Chu Qing, are you doing well at your second uncle's house? Do you miss your father and me?"

"Mother, we are doing well. Second Aunt treats us very well. I learned embroidery from Sister Mianhua and cooking from Li Mei Niang."

"Mom, I've learned to cook several dishes. I'll make them for you, Dad, and my brothers to try later. My second aunt made us study, learn to read, and even practice martial arts with Shao Yun and the others."

Chu Tong felt that her time at her second uncle's house was like a dream, somewhat unreal.

"Chuqing, are you sick? I feel like you two have grown taller and gained weight."

"Not sick, but eating a lot."

Chu Qing is three years old and doesn't like to talk. Previously, Sister-in-law Jiang didn't pay much attention to this daughter, and it was always Jiang's mother who took care of her.

Now, she has figured it out and knows that she made a mistake.

“Mom, my little sister has been staying with my cousin Chuyue all day. Besides learning to read, she just plays. My second aunt says that children need to be active to stay healthy.”

"Sister Chuyue, I miss you."

Chuqing and Chuyue played together for several months, and Chuqing was really attached to Chuyue.

"Chuqing, Mom misses you and your sister too. Tonight, after your second brother gets off school, let him take you to play, okay?"

"Um."

Chu Qing is very well-behaved and rarely throws tantrums.

Jiang's sister-in-law looked at her two daughters, feeling a warm glow inside.

In the evening, Brother Jiang returned from school and was overjoyed to see his parents and two daughters.

"Father, Mother, it's so good to see you back!"

"We're back. Jiang Lan is about to give birth, and we couldn't leave without coming back."

"Jiang Lan would be happy to know that her parents are back. The yard feels so empty without them."

Jiang Shuheng had gotten used to having his parents around. Every time he came home, he could see his parents in the yard, and that feeling of peace was really nice.

“We’ll go to the prefectural city after Jiang Lan gives birth and we finish the ancestral rites. Yi An will also be giving birth around that time, and we’ll be worried about her if we don’t keep an eye on her.”

"Right now, we're still healthy enough to go out for walks. In a couple of years, when your mother and I are no longer healthy, we'll stop traveling and stay home to retire."

Jiang's father also gained a lot during his trip to the prefectural city; he read many books and learned many new things.

"Shuheng, there are a few books in the box that I copied in the prefectural city. Your second brother borrowed them from the academy's study. I copied a few of them. Take a look when you have time."

You are still young; you must read. Whether it's books about the imperial examinations or other subjects, reading more will benefit you.

"Understood, Father."

Jiang Shuheng also loved reading, but his family had a limited selection of books. Unexpectedly, his father went to the prefectural city and brought back books.

After dinner, Mr. and Mrs. Jiang went to rest, and the children also dispersed.

Granny Xing helped Sister-in-law Jiang clear the dishes, while Jiang Shuheng carried the bamboo box to the study.

Books with the scent of ink bring joy.

Jiang Shuheng washed his hands, picked up a book, and slowly began to read. What a wonderful book!

After resting at home for two days, Jiang's parents went to the county town to visit Jiang Lan.

"Father, Mother, you're back?"

When Jiang Lan saw her parents, tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.
