Chapter 5: First Meeting with the Three Kids

"Yes, I know. Jiang Shuyun, what did you do before?"

Mu Yi'an thought to herself that the two of them were strangers, and this was their first meeting in the elevator. Since they were going to live together in the future, they should at least get to know each other first.

"In my past life, I was a high school politics teacher. What about you?"

"A teacher at Yunnan University, who teaches agronomy."

The two men looked at each other, their professions seemingly meaningless in this feudal dynasty.

"No wonder we ended up in the same deadly elevator; it was all because of that damn awards ceremony."

Jiang Shuyun, do you know, I wasn't originally supposed to attend that meeting, but because one of us needed a prenatal checkup and the other needed to take wedding photos, the department head pushed it onto me, someone who's neither married nor having children. That damn bald guy, I hope he falls out completely, not a single hair left.

Mu Yi'an wanted to hurl all her profanities at the bald department head, for he also bore responsibility for her death.

"It's good to vent appropriately; too much negative emotion can easily lead to depression."

Your agricultural studies are alright, maybe they'll be of some use. But for me, with my political science background, it's completely useless!"

Jiang Shuyun couldn't help but utter a curse word as well.

"That's true. You might as well have studied history. Although it's not the same spatial dimension, at least it's somewhat related. Your political ideology is useless here. I've sorted out most of the memories in my mind. The original owner's family was good. Her parents loved her, and her brothers were friendly and respectful. She was also literate, although there were some traditional characters that I didn't recognize."

"It's alright. I've looked into it, and this dynasty doesn't use many traditional Chinese characters; they mostly use vernacular Chinese, so we won't have any language barriers. As for the rest, we can only take it one step at a time."

Jiang Shuyun didn't know what kind of person was the creator of this spatial dimension, but he did know that it was a confused dynasty, where many things from different periods appeared.

"Oh well, never mind, let's go to sleep and talk about it tomorrow. No matter what, the sun will still rise in the east and set in the west tomorrow."

"You're right, plans can't keep up with changes. Instead of worrying about the future, we should live well in the present."

Having reached an agreement, the two lay down on the bed, ready to sleep. Whether they could actually fall asleep was another matter entirely.
