Chapter 24: After beating the young one, the old one comes next.

Luo Shimiao looked behind Gu Nian and said, "Teacher Gu, the fish..."

Gu Nian smiled helplessly, still thinking about the fish: "I caught two."

"Yay, we can have boiled fish fillets tonight!"

Luo Shimiao caught a glimpse of a figure slowly crawling out and said in a frosty tone, "For every step you take, I'll break one of your teeth."

The henchman who wanted to escape froze, then lay still and pretended to be dead.

Luo Shimiao looked at the photographer: "Did you call the police?"

"It's been reported, it's been reported."

After waiting for about ten minutes, a group of uniformed police officers rushed over, handcuffed the five people on the ground, and put them in a car.

Luo Shimiao and Ding Xiaoxiao were going to the police station to give statements, and Gu Nian and the photographer went with them.

After Luo Shimiao finished giving her statement and came out of the interrogation room, it was already 2:15 p.m. She was acting in self-defense and could leave after giving her statement.

Walking to Gu Nian's side, she said weakly, "Let's go. Ding Xiaoxiao won't be here so soon. Let's go back first. We're starving."

As soon as they stepped out of the police station, Luo Shimiao remembered that they had come in a police car. Looking at Gu Nian, she said, "We're not going to walk back, are we? Could you give me directions, photographer? How far is it from here to Bailing Village?"

"Don't worry, Teacher Luo. Director Li has arranged a car to pick us up. We'll be there soon."

Facing the camera, Luo Shimiao raised her hand above her head, making a big heart shape: "Thank you, Director Li."

Seeing the photographer standing shirtless in the sun, Luo Shimiao felt a pang of guilt.

A few minutes later the car arrived. After getting in, Luo Shimiao looked at the bucket at her feet, a look of satisfaction in her eyes: "You guys are today's harvest."

Gu Nian closed his eyes and covered his forehead. When they went to the police station, Luo Shimiao was afraid that the fish would be stolen if left unattended, so he carried the bucket directly into the police car.

When Huang Zongyi saw them return, he said happily, "You're back. I left you some food. I'll go heat it up."

"Thank you, Brother Yi, you're the best." Luo Shimiao was deeply moved when he heard that they had left food for them.

The staff briefly explained the fishpond situation to them, without going into details.

Jiang Xue pulled Luo Shimiao along and looked her up and down: "I heard from them that you ran into a group of thugs. Are you alright?"

Luo Shimiao waved his hand: "It's alright, they're the ones in trouble."

Jiang Xue: "Huh?"

Luo Shimiao smiled mischievously: "You'll know once the show is over, just go online and check."

After the meal, Luo Shimiao asked, "Brother Yi, do we have enough ingredients now? I'm tired and don't want to work this afternoon."

Huang Zongyi replied, "Jiang Xue and I went to cut pig feed today and exchanged it for 2 catties of pork belly. With these two fish, we can eat until tomorrow without any problem."

Luo Shimiao glanced at Director Li: "Then you can lie down until the end of the show, great."

Director Li: "........."

Luo Shimiao was about to go upstairs to rest when Gu Nian's cold voice rang out from behind her.

Don't forget to take your medicine.

"It's ready, I'm not eating anymore." With that, she flew back to her room.

Inside the room, Qiao Zhixi was sleeping, her hands resting on her stomach. Compared to yesterday's large, bloated belly, it had shrunk considerably today.

Luo Shimiao took her pajamas and went to wash up.

Luo Shimiao was woken up while he was sleeping soundly.

"Earthquake? Earthquake?" The girl sat up, looking around in confusion.

Jiang Xue cupped Luo Shimiao's face in her hands, making her look at her: "There was no earthquake. Someone downstairs is looking for you."

Luo Shimiao pointed to his nose: "Looking for me? Xiaoming? Want to play games with me?"

Jiang Xue: "No."

Luo Shimiao, wearing a Psyduck pajama set, followed Jiang Xue downstairs in a daze.

As soon as I stepped out of the corridor, a woman's voice rang out: "Mom and Dad, this is the woman who saved me."

Mr. Ding: "My savior, thank you for saving my daughter."

Ding's father, along with his daughter and wife, knelt down and kowtowed to Luo Shimiao, with many villagers standing behind them.

Looking at the three people kowtowing to her, Luo Shimiao's previously dazed mind suddenly cleared up. She couldn't accept such treatment!

He took two steps as one, walked to them, and knelt down: "Get up, I can't accept this."

With tears streaming down her face, Ding's mother cried, "I can accept it. My family only has one daughter. If anything were to happen to her, how would we live? If it weren't for you, that beast would have succeeded today."

The villagers said one after another, "That beast has been causing trouble in our village a lot because he has the town mayor as his father. He deserves to be cut into pieces."

Luo Shimiao pulled the three of them up: "It was just a small favor. Anyone else would have helped Xiaoxiao if they saw it."

At this moment, Ding's father placed a plastic bag in Luo Shimiao's hand: "This is a small token of our appreciation. We hope you won't think it's too little."

Luo Shimiao squeezed it, her heart skipped a beat, and she immediately stuffed it back: "I won't take it, you can take it back."

Ding's father tried to pass it over again, and the two of them pushed it back and forth.

Seeing how stubborn Ding's father was, Luo Shimiao deliberately put on a stern face: "If you keep doing this, I'll get angry."

This tactic worked. Gu Nian slowly walked to Luo Shimiao's side and said, "If you really want to thank her, you can give her two chicken legs."

Mr. Ding asked incredulously, "Chicken leg?"

Chicken legs are not sincere at all; at the very least, you should send a pig.

Luo Shimiao immediately nodded: "This is good, this is good."

Dad Ding: "......"

Luo Shimiao was surrounded by villagers who kept praising him. At first, it was fine, but after a while, it felt like there were a dozen mosquitoes buzzing around his ear.

In the end, it was Gu Nian who managed to get the person out.

It was time to cook, and the villagers gradually dispersed.
