Chapter 464 New Year's Eve

Luo Shimiao glanced at him and said leisurely, "You're like a 'vase,' all looks and no substance."

"You ungrateful brat, I helped you for nothing when you were little." He angrily turned his face away.

"Just kidding." She walked over and gently punched Luo Jianxing's thigh, smiling like a cunning little fox. "You are more important to me than my older brothers."

"Hmph, even ghosts would shake their heads at what you say, only Ah Nian would believe you."

Gu Nian's eyes flickered slightly, and the corners of her lips lifted slightly. "Sometimes I don't believe it either," she said, noticing Luo Shimiao's gaze. "Just kidding."

She muttered, "It's not funny at all."

The lights in the courtyard came on as night fell.

The brief incident earlier did not dampen everyone's spirits; cheerful conversations and laughter filled the courtyard.

After soaking in the hot spring, they held a pajama party indoors and played until almost midnight before turning off the lights and going to sleep.

Time flew by, and after two enjoyable days at the hot spring resort, everyone returned to their posts to wrap up the year's work.

......

On New Year's Eve, every household is brightly lit.

The Luo family is missing two members this year.

Luo Shimiao accompanied Gu Nian home for the Chinese New Year this year, while Luo Jianxing accompanied Li Man home for the Chinese New Year.

At the dining table, Luo Linyuan looked at the chicken leg in his bowl, his delicate face showing a hint of worry.

Zhou Shuyu noticed her son's change in mood, touched the back of his head, and gently asked, "Lingyuan, what's wrong?"

"This year's New Year's Eve dinner was a little less fun because my aunt didn't fight me for the chicken leg."

"You're not happy anymore because your aunt doesn't 'bully' you. Don't worry, your aunt will come back tomorrow to take your chicken leg."

Luo Ruilin put down her chopsticks, looked at her son, and said, "Ling Yuan, how about we find someone else to compete with you for him next time?"

Luo Lingyuan blinked his big, dark eyes and asked, "Who is it?"

All eyes were fixed on him with curiosity.

He and Zhou Shuyu exchanged a glance, then his gaze fell down to her lower abdomen, his eyes filled with tenderness.

"Your sister or brother."

"Shuyu, you're pregnant?" Ye Shujun asked in surprise.

She nodded, stroking her lower abdomen, a look of joy on her face: "Yes, I just turned three months old yesterday."

"Okay, okay, okay." She beamed with joy and said "okay" three times in a row.

Luo Lingyuan smiled so hard his eyes narrowed, and he swung his little legs as he said, "I finally have a little sister!"

"I won't fight with my sister for the chicken leg; I'll give it to her."

Luo Ziliang raised his wine glass and said with a smile, "Congratulations, Second Brother and Sister-in-law."

"Thank you, brother." Luo Ruilin raised his glass and clinked it against his.

Ye Lin stroked his beard, his eyes reflecting their smiling faces: "The only thing missing is Luo Yatou and Jian Xing. Once I see them get married and have children, my life will be complete!"

“Dad, I have a feeling this day isn’t far off.” Luo Jingyuan put his arm around his shoulder and said with emotion, “Although I’m extremely reluctant to let go, our children are all grown up, and this day will come sooner or later.”

"Now you understand how I felt back then, right?" He thought of the person he saw that morning: "It was barely dawn when Anian took Miaomiao away. The way he was so eager was exactly the same as when you were picking up your bride back then."

“I only had one daughter, and at that time, I wished I could weld the door shut.”

He leaned over and kissed Ye Lin on the cheek: "Thank you, Dad, for marrying Shujun to me."

Ye Lin wiped the spot where he had been kissed with his hand: "Ugh, how disgusting!"

Luo Luo raised her hand to cover her eyes: "How embarrassing." Two dark eyes darted between her fingers.

"Little dirty cat." Qin Shanshan took her greasy little hands off her and wiped the oil stains off her face with a tissue.

Ye Shujun: "Eat your food, or it will get cold."

She stood up, grabbed a large shrimp, and put it in her bowl: "Grandma, eat shrimp."

"Thank you, my dear granddaughter." She smiled broadly and patted her little head.

"Where's Grandpa's? Luo Luo, you're being biased."

"I have everything." Luo Luo said, supporting herself on the table with one hand while reaching for shrimp with the other.

Qin Shanshan looked at her daughter's oily hands and said, "Luo Luo, use chopsticks."

"You're not very good with chopsticks." She quickly grabbed a shrimp and said to Luo Jingyuan in a soft, sweet voice, "Grandpa, the bowl."

Luo Jingyuan quickly picked up the bowl to catch the shrimp: "Thank you."

"You're welcome." She bent her knees and sat back down in the chair.

Sitting next to her, Luo Yan pulled out a tissue from the tissue box: "Little sister, let me wipe your hands for you."

"Okay." She obediently stretched out her hands.

......

Compared to the lively atmosphere at the Luo family's house, the Gu family's house was less bustling due to the smaller number of people. However, Luo Shimiao's arrival added a lot of fun.

Su Jingwen held Luo Shimiao's hand and said gently, "Miaomiao, I'm really happy to have you at the New Year's Eve dinner this year."

“In previous years, my dad and I would try our best to find topics to talk about during the New Year’s Eve dinner, but the father and son would always manage to kill the conversation in just a few sentences.”

Gu Ming nodded in agreement: "Luo girl, your aunt is absolutely right." Out of the corner of his eye, he saw the green bird standing on the table watching the Spring Festival Gala.

“Your bird is very interesting. I have never seen such a versatile parrot. It can liven up even the coldest place.”

Little Green turned around, tilted her head, and said, "Thank you for the compliment."

Gu Nian glanced at it: "Grandpa, that's called being noisy."

"Luo girl, listen to this, how are you supposed to respond?"

Luo Shimiao covered her mouth and chuckled, "Grandpa Gu, he's not usually like this when he talks to me."

"What does it look like? Tell me about it." Gu Ming's curiosity was piqued.
