Chapter 122 Such Simple Lines

Gu Baiwei was completely bewildered. How could she have gotten caught just for watching the fun?

Upon hearing the director ask Gu Baiwei to demonstrate for her, Su Peipei's face immediately darkened: "Director Chen, please give me another chance. I promise I can act well. As far as I know, this Miss Gu is not from a professional acting background. She is still a novice herself. Director Chen, please don't make things difficult for her."

The subtext is quite clear: Gu Baiwei is a newcomer, and her skill level may not even be as good as hers. Why should she be asked to demonstrate? Isn't this misleading others?

Director Chen seemed not to understand her hint and made the decision directly: "It's settled then. Weiwei, you should familiarize yourself with the plot and lines, and act out this scene once."

With the director giving the order, Gu Baiwei had no choice but to bite the bullet and step forward under Su Peipei's murderous glare.

When Su Peipei took the script from Su Peipei's hand, Su Peipei gripped it tightly and didn't let go for a long time.

"Ms. Su, Director Chen is still waiting."

Gu Baiwei could only helplessly remind her, and Su Peipei reluctantly let go.

"Don't get cocky, we'll see."

The moment she took the script, Su Peipei gritted her teeth and whispered in her ear.

Gu Baiwei was so angry she laughed. She should have focused all her energy on acting, how could she have acted like that?

"Okay, I'll wait."

She smiled and snatched the script from Su Peipei's hand, leaving behind a single sentence before taking her things and leaving.

Gu Baiwei has an excellent memory; after only a quick glance, she memorized every single line of dialogue.

She handed the script back to Su Peipei and smiled at Director Chen, saying, "Director Chen, I'm ready."

Su Peipei was surprised that she had memorized the lines so quickly. She considered herself to have a pretty good memory, and it had taken her almost two hours to memorize these lines and actions. How could she have memorized them in less than ten minutes? Could it be that she was deliberately trying to show off in front of Director Chen?

She snorted and snatched back the script: "What are you pretending for? Don't come asking me for it later if you forget your lines."

"Don't worry, I can memorize such simple lines after reading them only once."

After Gu Baiwei finished speaking with a smile, she walked confidently to Shen Xuan's side.

Shen Xuan watched her with his smiling eyes the whole time. When he saw that she had memorized her lines so quickly, his eyes flashed with admiration, and his hands unconsciously clenched under his wide sleeves.

At this moment, Gu Baiwei had already walked to his side. When she looked up at him, her bright eyes seemed to be filled with water, gentle and reserved.

"Immortal, let me help you back."

She wrapped one of her slender, fair hands around his back, half-encircling his back, and with the other hand, she grabbed his arm through his sleeve.

Bai Yuan lowered his eyes slightly and could see the woman's silky, smooth black hair.

All her hair was gathered at the back of her head with a black hair tie, forming a high ponytail. A few strands of hair fell down on either side of her fair, jade-like face, swaying slightly with her movements.

Thank you.

Bai Yuan's Adam's apple bobbed as he spoke in a low voice, his tone hoarse from the effects of alcohol.

Du Wenzhu kept her eyes fixed ahead, carefully helping him avoid potholes or unexpected stones on the road, proceeding with caution and care.

Her cheeks were flushed slightly, and when she occasionally looked up and met his eyes, she would quickly look away like a startled fawn.

Although she was supporting him, she kept a fist's distance between them, showing no sign of overstepping her bounds.

Ripples spread across the pond, and playful fish poked their heads out of the water, blowing bubbles as they curiously watched the two people on the shore.

Its tail swayed playfully in the water, splashing up tiny droplets that shimmered in the sunlight.

Du Wenzhu looked over curiously, her eyes flashing with joy. Just as she was about to say something, she looked up and met the man's deep, unfathomable eyes. She pursed her lips, then quickly lowered her head again. Her fair, snow-white cheeks were flushed with a large blush, like a ripe fruit, indescribably adorable.

Bai Yuan's eyes flickered slightly, and his free left hand suddenly grasped Du Wenzhu's right hand that was supporting him.

The slightly cool touch on the back of her hand startled Du Wenzhu. Before she could react, the hand had already been withdrawn: "Watch your step."

She then noticed a dent about the size of a foot under her feet.

He must have grabbed her hand to remind her, and her heart suddenly felt like it was pounding wildly.

After walking for a while, Bai Yuan suddenly let go of her hand: "Thank you, I'll leave you here."

"Immortal, are you alright by yourself?"

Du Wenzhu raised her eyes cautiously to look at the man's cool and aloof features, then quickly lowered her head again.

"Okay, I'll stay for a while, I can go back by myself."

Bai Yuan spoke softly, turned to look at the water, and stopped looking at her.

A gentle breeze lifted the hem of his white robe and his dark hair, making him appear as if he were about to ride the wind and disappear at any moment.

The pool water rippled, and the scattered silver light reflected off his face, making his handsome profile even more striking.

Du Wenzhu watched silently for a while, then lowered her eyes and turned to leave: "Immortal, this humble woman will take her leave now."

She forced herself to remain calm and walked away, her departing figure carrying an indescribable sense of loneliness...

"Card, very good!"

As the final scene ended, Director Chen applauded with satisfaction.

Although the dialogue in this scene is simple, it demands a very high level of acting skill from the actors.

Gu Baiwei's expression and actions perfectly captured the restraint and admiration of a young girl in love when facing her sweetheart.

"See? That's the effect I wanted."

He turned to Su Peipei, his expression instantly turning serious.

Su Peipei was somewhat indignant. She and Gu Baiwei had acted almost the same, so why was the director so biased? Was it just because of her face?

That woman really is a vixen; perhaps Director Chen was also bewitched by her face.

Su Peipei gritted her teeth in hatred, but could only force a smile: "Understood, Director Chen."

Out of the corner of her eye, she glanced at Guo Hua, who hadn't said a single good word for her the entire time. She glared at him fiercely. This bastard took such a big advantage of her last night, and today he actually let her be treated differently on set? What use is this coward?

Because Su Peipei's scene took up some time, the subsequent scenes were all scheduled for the next day.

Gu Baiwei and Du Qingyan finished their scenes for the day and went back to the hotel early.

As soon as I reached the door, I saw Liu Ming holding a large bouquet of red roses, waiting there, looking around as if he was waiting for someone.

Gu Baiwei was immediately at a loss: "Yan Yan, let's go out for a walk first, and come back later."

As soon as she finished speaking, Liu Ming spotted them and waved frantically at her with shining eyes: "Weiwei, you're finally back."

Having failed to escape, Gu Baiwei could only force a stiff smile: "Did you need something?"

"Of course, Vivi, I... ah..."

Before Liu Ming could finish speaking, he suddenly covered his ears and screamed in pain.
