Chapter Thirty-Two: Learning to Cook

Meeting her disgusted gaze, Ye Yunting lowered his eyes, the light in them dimming: "I just finished my business and happened to be passing by."

He had come specifically to see her, but seeing the resistance in her eyes, he backed down.

A cold smile crept across Gu Baiwei's lips. If he had cared for her even half as much in her previous life, their relationship wouldn't have deteriorated to this irreparable state.

Meeting her icy gaze, Ye Yunting's heart clenched painfully.

All I want now is to go back to my previous life and give that arrogant bastard a good slap across the face, but it's too late to say anything now.

"Hello, this is a place for students to study. Relatives of students are not allowed to enter."

The middle-aged female teacher, exasperated, turned off the gas stove, and the splattering oil gradually stopped.

Along with the calming down, Gu Baiwei's restless heart also calmed down.

It turns out that some things we thought were eternal will gradually cool down over time, just like the boiling oil in this pot.

She took a step back, distancing herself from Ye Yunting: "Teacher, I don't know him."

Upon hearing this, the middle-aged teacher straightened his back: "Since that's the case..."

As she spoke, she suddenly saw Ye Yunting's face, which seemed to glow in the sunlight, and her heart raced, her eyes practically bursting with pink bubbles.

Her assertive tone instantly softened into a gentle one: "If you are interested, sir, you can try our trial course first."

Gu Baiwei? Why didn't anyone tell me about trial classes? How can this be considered differential treatment?

However, how could someone as high and mighty as Mr. Ye possibly learn to cook?

The moment she had that thought, she saw Ye Yunting, whose face in her memory was always as cold as a freak, give the middle-aged female teacher a slight smile: "Thank you, teacher."

The female teacher's long-dormant heart was instantly struck by a barrage of love, and her usually fluent tongue stammered, "No...you're welcome. Please feel free to contact me anytime if you have any questions."

As she spoke, she shyly tidied the stray hairs by her ears, looking like a young girl in the bloom of spring.

Gu Baiwei felt that the world was becoming more and more terrifying.

First, there was Shen Yanqing, the legendary yandere male lead who only had eyes for the female lead, who would appear by her side at any moment with an ambiguous tone. Then there's this guy now, Ye Yunting, who used to be as cold as ice and looked at everyone like they owed him eight million dollars, but he actually smiled.

Damn it, let's destroy this insane world together.

Gu Baiwei was secretly complaining when the female teacher coughed twice and said softly, "I will be commenting on everyone's work in ten minutes. Students who haven't finished yet, please hurry up."

Gu Baiwei then remembered her important task and hurriedly poured the dish of pitifully-looking shredded potatoes into the pot, only to suddenly realize what she had done afterward.

Damn, I forgot to add the meat and minced garlic.

The fire in the stove grew stronger and stronger, and it looked like the food was about to burn. She frantically tried to stir it with the spatula, but she stirred it too vigorously, and the shredded potatoes scattered all over the side of the pot.

Great, thanks to her efforts, half of the plate of shredded potatoes is now left.

Behind her, Ye Yunting saw her working so hard and wanted to help her several times, but he held back.

He pursed his lips, feeling that the current Gu Baiwei was not quite the same as in his previous life.

In her previous life, she was always gentle and graceful in everything she did, like a mannequin wearing a gentle shell, which perfectly met the standards of the Ye family's daughter-in-law. However, Ye Yunting loathed her from the bottom of his heart.

Lost in thought, something scalding hot slapped onto his handsome face, leaving a tiny red mark on his flawless skin.

Ye Yunting was stunned for a moment, then realized that it was a piece of piping hot meat.

"Excuse me……"

Gu Baiwei hurriedly apologized, but when she turned around and saw that it was Ye Yunting who had been hit, she immediately fell silent, secretly adding in her heart, "Serves him right."

He then turned his head and continued cooking.

Ye Yunting: "..." He had a strange feeling that someone was cursing him.

When the time was up, the female teacher stopped in front of each student's work to appreciate it, sometimes nodding and sometimes shaking her head.

When she reached Gu Baiwei, she took a deep breath, glanced furtively at Ye Yunting beside her, and then immediately looked away, pretending to be aloof.

She gritted her teeth, picked up a piece of shredded potato from the plate, took a bite, swallowed it with a pained expression, and then picked up the water glass next to her and gulped it down.

"Based on my more than ten years of experience in the industry, you no longer need to continue your studies."

Gu Baiwei asked with delight, "Teacher, do you think I'm good enough to graduate immediately?"

The middle-aged female teacher shook her head: "No, I think you might be more suited to studying something else than cooking, such as researching poisons."

Gu Baiwei: "..." Are you being polite?

"Why?" she asked unwillingly. Although the shredded potatoes didn't look very appetizing and the knife skills weren't great, at least she remembered to add salt this time, and she didn't skimp on it.

The middle-aged female teacher's lips twitched as she lifted her forehead, revealing burn marks from oil splatters. "Don't you have any self-awareness about why?"

In the end, Gu Baiwei's learning experience did not last more than three days, because she was kicked out of the classroom by the female teacher on the first day.

As Gu Baiwei left dejectedly, the female teacher behind her looked at Ye Yunting with a solicitous expression: "Sir, there are seats available now. Would you like to try it out? I can personally teach you."

Ye Yunting followed Gu Baiwei without turning his head: "No need, thank you."

Female teacher: "..." It's so hard for an iron tree to bloom, but it turns out to be a night-blooming cereus.

Gu Baiwei ran into Lu Ran as she was leaving. Lu Ran had come to see Ye Yunting, but she was surprised to run into her and excitedly greeted her, "Hi, we meet again?"

Seeing that it was her favorite male anchor, Gu Baiwei felt a little better. After all, although his taste in friends was a bit poor, his physique was still pretty good.

Just then, I heard the sound of leather shoes rolling on the cement ground behind me.

"Old Ye, come quick, look who I've run into!"

Upon seeing this, Lu Ran immediately waved to Ye Yunting behind him and turned back to Gu Baiwei, saying, "Miss Gu, wait a moment, Old Ye is behind you."

No sooner had she finished speaking than Gu Baiwei stepped into view, her footsteps swift and clear in her high heels.

He was momentarily stunned. What was going on?

Didn't Lao Ye say they were husband and wife? Why does Miss Gu seem so reluctant to see him?

Did they break up? If she gets a divorce now, can he secure a backup option?

Before I knew it, the person had gotten on the bus and left.

Ye Yunting failed to catch up with the person and his expression turned somewhat unpleasant.

But thinking of all the bastard things he had done in his past life, he rallied himself, clenched his fists, and said to the departing car, "Weiwei, this time it's my turn to chase after you."

Gu Baiwei was unaware of his thoughts, only feeling that she had been having bad luck lately, perhaps because she hadn't checked the almanac before going out.

Just then, a dark figure suddenly darted out from beside the speeding car.
