Chapter 15 Huo Jinning Pretending to be Sick

“I’m not busy right now, just tell me what you need,” Qian Chengfeng replied, gesturing for his assistant to leave.

"Well, Xiao Lan just got back. She called me and said she twisted her ankle and hopes I can come over and take a look."

"But just as I was about to leave, my sister suddenly had a severe stomachache, so I had to come to the hospital to stay with her."

"Could you go and visit Xiao Lan for me? I've already sent you the address."

Huo Nanchu deliberately fabricated this reason. He knew very well the relationship between Qian Chengfeng and Ye Lan, but he did not intend to expose their conspiracy. He just wanted to take the opportunity to disgust them.

Upon hearing Huo Nanchu's words, Qian Chengfeng was quite surprised and didn't know how to respond for a moment.

However, he quickly recovered and hurriedly said, "...Ah, oh, okay. No problem, I'll be right there."

"Xiao Lan's return was quite sudden; I didn't even know. Well, I'll take this opportunity to go see her." Qian Chengfeng tried to make his tone sound natural.

"Hmph, all she does after she comes back is look for you. It seems that none of us friends are important to her anymore!" Qian Chengfeng joked, trying to sound casual.

If I hadn't overheard Huo Jinning's true feelings beforehand, I probably would have been fooled by him.

"Alright then, go check on her if you're free! I also need to go see how my sister is doing. That's all for now, let's grab a drink sometime." Huo Nanchu really didn't want to continue this pretense with him.

"Okay, sure."

After hanging up the phone, Qian Chengfeng's expression instantly turned extremely ugly, and he muttered, "Why did he have to get sick at this critical moment of time?"

After much persuasion, Qian Chengfeng finally managed to calm Ye Lan down.

After Huo Jinning and Huo Nanchu finished their physical examinations, they left the hospital first, and the subsequent test reports would be delivered to their home.

"Brother, how about we eat out today?" Huo Jinning's big eyes sparkled.

"Your stomachache has just subsided, so don't eat anything indiscriminately. I'll have Aunt Wang make you some porridge when we get home," Huo Nanchu teased Huo Jinning, though he had already made a reservation at a restaurant.

"Brother, I'm fine now. I was in pain for a while, but I'm all better now and it won't affect my eating."

[I'll never use a stomachache as an excuse again. Next time, if that doesn't work, I'll say a headache, leg pain... anything but a stomachache.]

"Big brother, really, I'm really better. Let's eat out." Huo Jinning looked at Huo Nanchu pitifully, shaking his sleeve repeatedly.

Who could refuse that!

"Alright then!" Huo Nanchu replied with a helpless expression.

Actually, he originally wanted to continue teasing Huo Jinning, but Huo Jinning was good at acting cute.

"Really?" Upon hearing this, Huo Jinning seemed to be instantly injected with adrenaline, becoming energetic and lively.

"If you change your mind and don't want to go anymore, we can go home anytime."

"Of course we're going! Let's hurry up and get in the car." With that, Huo Jinning eagerly pulled Huo Nanchu toward the garage.

The two arrived at a quiet and unique private restaurant.

This shop adopts a typical Chinese architectural style, full of simple and elegant beauty.

They entered a private room called "Peony," where the decorations were mainly themed around the delicate and beautiful peony flowers, giving it an exceptionally elegant and luxurious feel.

The waitress who greeted them was a beautiful woman in an exquisite cheongsam, with a graceful figure and elegant demeanor.

Dining in such an atmosphere is simply an ultimate enjoyment.

[This young lady is so beautiful! Her figure and the cheongsam complement each other perfectly.]

[Even the way this tea is brewed is a pleasure to behold.]

"Ningning, try this tea." Huo Nanchu couldn't bear to look at her younger sister who kept staring at the tea-making lady, so she spoke up to remind her.

"Okay, sure." Huo Jinning turned her eyes to the tea.

After drinking about two cups of tea, the dishes began to be served one by one.

[Delicious, delicious, this is delicious, that is delicious too.]

[I'll pack some for my parents and sister when I get back later.]

[It's so delicious!]

Soon, Huo Jinning lost all interest in thinking about anything else; the food had completely captured her attention.
