Chapter 223 Dream and the Silver Spider (Bonus Chapter 1)

The two men's expressions changed slightly, and they suddenly turned to look at Yu Ran on the bed.

Yu Ran lay on the bed with her eyes closed, a bright smile on her lips.

She murmured to herself, "Dad, try this, Mom's cooking is so delicious!"

This bizarre scene made Li Mu frown, a look of worry flashing in his eyes: "What's going on?"

Lu Ning shook his head.

No white mist appeared inside her body.

Just then, Lu Ning saw strands of silver spider silk appear inside Yu Ran's body.

Spider silk spread, seemingly weaving a web.

Lu Ning reached out and pressed his hand on Yu Ran's chest, pulling her outwards.

The next moment, strands of spider silk were stretched out, pulling out Yu Ran's body.

However, the spider silk was not torn; instead, Yu Ran's originally smiling face became twisted and painful.

Li Mu was startled and immediately asked, "Lu Ning, what's going on?"

Lu Ning tugged again, and Yu Ran's face paled even more, letting out a muffled groan.

Lu Ning paused for a moment, then withdrew his hand.

The elongated silver spider silk retracted back into Yu Ran's body and disappeared.

Lu Ning frowned, staring at Yu Ran's body. The spider silk retracted and disappeared, not protruding out again.

Yu Ran's pale face gradually regained its composure.

The smile on her face disappeared, and she stopped talking in her sleep.

Li Mu watched from the side. Seeing that Yu Ran had calmed down, she breathed a slight sigh of relief. Then she looked at Lu Ning and asked, "Lu Ning, what happened just now? Why did Xiao Ran's face suddenly turn so painful?"

Lu Ning calmly said, "I saw the spider silk that Jerry secreted in her body, and I tried to remove it... but I failed."

Li Mu's eyes widened slightly, a look of astonishment on his face: "Failed?"

Li Mu himself had been mentally corrupted by Lu Ning, and had also witnessed others being mentally corrupted by Lu Ning.

I've never failed before, so why did I fail this time?

"Why did it fail?" Li Mu asked anxiously. "You were able to absorb even the spiritual pollution of a saint before, and Amisha said that you also absorbed the spiritual pollution of that little boy yesterday. Why couldn't you do it with Xiao Ran?"

Lu Ning looked at Yu Ran, remained silent for a moment, and then said, "Perhaps, that spider silk is not mental pollution."

Li Mu was taken aback: "...Not mental pollution? How could that be? Then what about the spider silk from yesterday?"

Lu Ning shook his head: "Yesterday, the little boy had white mist in his body, which was mental pollution, but Xiao Ran didn't."

Li Mu frowned deeply and sat weakly on the edge of the bed: "If there's no white mist, what's with the spider silk?"

Lu Ning speculated: "That might be some kind of extension of the dream, or perhaps it is a manifestation of Xiao Ran's dream itself."

Li Mu smiled wryly and said, "So even you can't do anything about it?"

Lu Ning nodded slightly: "It can't be taken out at the moment."

The two looked at each other in silence for a long time.

Then Li Mu smiled and said, "You should rest for a bit. I'll take care of things."

Lu Ning nodded slightly, sat down on the sofa to the side, and then began to temper the source of contamination in the Hand of the Underworld.

Li Mu sat on the edge of the bed, silently watching Yu Ran.

By the time Lu Ning had nearly exhausted his mental energy, the night was already deep.

He looked up and glanced at Yu Ran and Li Mu.

Li Mu continued to watch Yu Ran without resting, and no silver spider silk appeared in Yu Ran's body.

He closed his eyes again, intending to take a nap.

In a hazy state, Lu Ning fell into a deep sleep.

In his sleep, in the pitch-black space, Lu Ning suddenly regained consciousness.

He surveyed the surrounding darkness with a blank expression, where several fist-sized silver spiders were located.

These spiders were spinning silver threads, slowly weaving webs in the dark void.

The net grew larger and larger, seemingly trying to envelop Lu Ning, with Lu Ning at its center.

At this moment, Lu Ning was like an insect trapped in a spider web.

Just then, a silver spider spun its web right at Lu Ning's feet.

Lu Ning lifted his foot and stepped on the spider.

Splat!

The spider was crushed, and silvery slime gushed out, turning the pitch-black void silvery-white.

The other spiders seemed startled and fled into the dark, deep void, disappearing in the blink of an eye.

Lu Ning was about to take a step to catch up.

Just as he took a step, he slowly opened his eyes.

Lu Ning woke up.

He glanced out the window; the sky was already slightly bright, the sun had risen high in the sky, and was leisurely waving its long antennae.

The longer Lu Ning looked at it, the more he felt that it possessed a kind of inexplicable elegance.

He turned his gaze away and looked in the direction of Yu Ran and Li Mu.

Yu Ran was still asleep, and Li Mu had fallen asleep leaning against the edge of Yu Ran's bed.

Lu Ning got up, intending to wash up.

The moment he moved, Li Mu woke up with a start and opened his eyes.

She immediately looked at Yu Ran, and seeing that Yu Ran was still asleep, a hint of disappointment flashed in Li Mu's eyes.

She then looked at Lu Ning, combing her black hair with her hand as she smiled and said, "Good morning."

Lu Ning nodded.

Just then, there was a knock on the door.

Li Mu immediately said, "Come in!"

The door opened, and Colin entered.

Behind Colin followed Yun Rou.
