Chapter 30 Yan Anqing and Jian Menglan
Siming smiled and shook his head: "If we bring it in, it will melt. Let it be a little guard here, guarding the yard, okay?"
Juanjuan stretched out her little hand and touched the snowman's head: "You have to watch the yard carefully and don't let any bad guys get in."
Old Madam Si was wearing a scarf and leaning against the door, watching the people playing around, with a smile on her face.
When going to Grandpa Yan's house, Si Jinchen changed into a long gown, and even Si Ming was wearing the same long gown.
He did not have the heroic air that he usually had when wearing military uniform and suit, but instead looked elegant and polite.
Juanjuan was also wearing a jacket and skirt today. She has gained a lot of weight now, her little face is chubby, and her skin is fair and pink.
The three of them standing together look quite pleasing to the eye.
Si Tian looked at the three of them and said, "My mother and I won't go with you. He won't like it if there are too many people."
Juanjuan got in the car and turned to look at Siming: "Dad, where are we going?"
"We're going to invite a teacher who's very knowledgeable. Dad wants him to teach you how to read and write. When you see him, be polite and don't act naughty."
Sima Ming instructed the two children.
"Dad, we will be good and obedient." Si Jinchen sat very straight.
Juanjuan watched the car drive towards a more remote place. The houses were not as good as the ones she had seen before. They were relatively dilapidated.
The people on the street were all wearing ordinary long gowns and jackets with many patches sewn on them.
"General, the car can't pass through ahead, so we can only walk in." Adjutant Qi said, looking at the road ahead.
"Find a place to park the car and you don't have to follow us." Si Ming said and got out of the car with the two children.
Their arrival attracted a lot of people's attention, as there were very few people here who were well-dressed.
"What do these three people do?" A young man nudged the owner of the wonton stall nearby with his crutch.
"Who knows? I see he came in a car. He must be the eldest son of someone's family." The boss looked at the direction they were going.
"Maybe he's here to see Old Man Yan."
"I would have forgotten if you hadn't told me. Many people have come to Old Man Yan to ask him to teach their children, but he refused them all. He also said that they would have to find some book if they wanted to." The young man scratched his head, unable to remember.
"A rare copy." The boss rolled his eyes.
"If this thing was so easy to find, he would have left the mountain long ago." The young man said after taking a bite of wonton.
"Hurry up and get back to work after eating. You don't have to pull a cart today!" The boss started to chase him away because he talked too much.
Siming took the two children and avoided some dirty and messy places.
There are all kinds of clothes hanging in the alley and colorful posters posted on the wall.
The three of them came to the gate of a courtyard and saw that it was open.
Siming raised his hand and knocked on the courtyard door. "Knock knock knock."
"Come in." A female voice came from the yard.
Siming brought the two children into the yard.
Juanjuan saw a grandmother wearing a padded cheongsam, flipping through the books on the table in the yard.
Jian Menglan looked at the three people who came in and didn't recognize them: "Who are you looking for?"
"Excuse me, are you Yan Anqing, Mr. Yan's family?" Siming asked respectfully.
Jian Menglan glanced at the three of them and said with a smile, "Are you here to ask my old man to give lessons to the children?"
"Yes." Sima Ming did not deny it.
"Then you will be disappointed. This old guy won't go to anyone's house unless he can find the rare copy he mentioned." Jian Menglan had a faint smile on her face.
"Beautiful grandma, we brought books!" Juanjuan ran to her and looked up at her.
"You are such a pretty little girl. But you can't just bring books. You have to bring the books that your Grandpa Yan needs." Jian Menglan said with a smile.
"If you want to fool me by just picking up a book, you'd better leave now." Yan Anqing walked out of the room.
The voice was distant and serious.
"Grandpa hasn't even seen it, how do you know it's not?" Juanjuan tilted her head and looked at the serious-faced old man.
"Juanjuan." Si Ming was afraid that Juanjuan's words would offend Old Master Yan.
Juanjuan pouted and bowed to Yan Anqing to apologize: "I'm sorry, Grandpa."
"Look at you, you scared the child." Jian Menglan pulled him and walked over to pull Juanjuan up.
Yan Anqing blushed. He hadn't expected to scare the child, and it seemed like he had said something wrong: "Ahem, let me take a look at the books you brought."
Sima Ming handed the blue-wrapped book to him with both hands.
Yan Anqing took it casually, intending to throw it to them later and tell them to leave quickly.
When he opened the blue cloth wrapped around it, he was stunned.
He opened the book with some trembling, and read carefully chapter by chapter. The more he read, the more excited he became.
As a result, he turned around and went back to the inner room, and no one could be seen.
Si Jinchen looked at Jian Menglan: "Grandma, what happened to Grandpa?"
There was nothing Jian Menglan didn't understand. She had been looking for the book for so many years, and they finally found it. "Looks like you guys need to sit here for a while. I'll go make you some tea."
There are stools in the yard and a coffee table next to them.
The courtyard is very clean, but it is winter now and there is nothing to see. It would be very beautiful in spring or summer.
Juanjuan sat down obediently on the stool, stretching her neck to look inside. "Dad, is Grandpa mad at me?"
Siming smiled and shook his head: "No, he just saw something he loved and wanted to see it quickly."
"That strange book?" Juanjuan tilted her head, not understanding what was so interesting about the book.
"There should be something in the book that he really wants to know!" Si Jinchen said with a smile.
"Brother, are there a lot of things in the book?" Juanjuan asked him curiously.
"There are many things in the book that you have seen or not seen. The more you learn, the more you will know." Jian Menglan came out with a tray.
Putting snacks on the coffee table: "My old man loses himself in the moment he sees something he loves. I don't know when he will come to his senses."
"It doesn't matter. We have nothing to do today anyway. It's okay for us to wait." Siming said with a smile.
Jian Menglan looked at Si Ming and thought for a moment: "Are you General Si?"
"Madam has good eyesight." Si Ming did not deny it.
"The old governor and the old lady brought you here before, but the old man didn't agree. I didn't expect that after all these twists and turns, we'd end up back where we started."
Jian Menglan said as she looked at the two children: "Are these your two children?"
"Achen is my son, and Juanjuan is adopted by me." Siming looked at the two children with the same tenderness.
"These two children are so adorable. The governor is so lucky." Jian Menglan said with a smile.
"Beautiful grandma, have you also read a lot of books?" Juanjuan looked at her curiously.
"Why do you ask?" Jian Menglan turned to look at her.
