Chapter 135 Too Much to Pay

Zhao Gang said succinctly, "Get lost!"

Xiao Hao and his three companions shuddered again when they suddenly heard him speak. The two subordinates who were lying on the ground coughing up blood struggled to their feet, and the female subordinate and Xiao Hao then reacted and went forward to help them up.

While helping his companion up, he kept an eye on Zhao Gang, or more precisely, on his menacing, blood-red tentacle, fearing that he might do something wrong and die silently.

Seeing that the tentacles had no intention of continuing their attack, the four men boldly picked up their weapons. The three henchmen supported each other and squeezed tightly next to Xiao Hao, carefully moving outwards along the wall.

As they passed by Zhao Gang and his daughter, the four of them held their breath.

Having finally managed to get past the father and daughter, just as he was about to let out a sigh of relief and run away...

Zhao Xiaoxiu suddenly shouted, "Wait a minute!"

The four of them froze instantly, their faces turning pale.

Zhao Gang looked at the four frozen people with displeasure. Didn't they hear what his little brat said?

"Come back!" Zhao Gang shouted.

Xiao Hao nodded hurriedly, "Okay, okay."

He shoved his three men back to their original positions. The four men stood in a row in front of the father and daughter, trembling with fear. Even the one who was coughing up blood stood straight, looking at the father and daughter with pleading eyes.

Zhao Gang was finally satisfied. He looked down at his daughter and said, "Speak your mind."

Zhao Xiaoxiu slid down from her father's arms, pointed at the four people in front of her, and coldly ordered, "You have ten minutes to clean the room. If you don't, then..."

Before she could finish speaking, the four of them scrambled into the house, displaying an attitude even more meticulous than that of domestic helpers. They quickly restored the house to its original state, then rushed out again, stood obediently in front of her, and asked in a soft, gentle voice:

"Little sister... no, no, I mean young lady. Are you satisfied, young lady?"

Zhao Xiaoxiu's eyes widened in disbelief. This was too fast!

She waved her little hand arrogantly, "You can get lost now."

The four of them felt as if they had been granted a pardon. They bowed and scraped to Zhao Gang and her, then ran away.

"etc!"

Why wait again!

The four people, who were about to start running, suddenly stopped and turned around in despair.

Meng Er stormed up and ripped off the cotton-padded coats from the two female subordinates.

"This is mine!" Meng Er threw back at him, "See? This is the power of my brother Gangzi. If you want to bully me again, you'd better think twice before you try!"

"Pah! What is that?!" Meng Er spat viciously at the feet of Xiao Hao and the others.

Xiao Hao dared not speak out in anger, his face turning white and then green again, and he could only grit his teeth and swallow his anger.

"Get out!" Meng said with disgust.

The four of them slunk away, not daring to utter a single harsh word before they left.

The Meng brothers quickly helped their mother up from the ground. Zhao Xiaoxiu asked with concern, "Grandma, are you alright?"

Granny Meng dusted off her clothes, shook her head to indicate that she was fine, and looked apologetically at Zhao Gang, "I dragged you into this."

Zhao Gang withdrew his tentacles without saying a word. The grateful and apologetic looks from the Meng family mother and her two children stirred a strange feeling within him.

However, he didn't dislike it; he just instinctively felt that such human emotions would cause trouble.

Meng Er handed his mother over to his older brother to take care of, and excitedly stepped forward to pat Zhao Gang on the shoulder, "Brother Gang, you were so cool just now! Those bastards must have been terrified, they might even have nightmares tonight!"

After settling his mother in, Meng invited Zhao Xiaoxiu and her father into the house.

Zhao Xiaoxiu felt that Wu Hao and the other three should do housekeeping. The originally dirty and messy house was cleaned up neatly, and even the coal dust on the walls was cleaned.

The Meng brothers checked the items in their home. The tables, chairs, and benches they had found themselves were still there, but the dozen or so bottles of nutrient solution they had hidden in the closet were gone.

The room could be cleaned, but the unpleasant smell of cheap liquor still lingered. Seeing Zhao Xiaoxiu frowning, Meng Da disregarded the cold winter wind and quickly opened all the windows to ventilate and dissipate the smell.

Meng Er took the firewood and coal stove that Wu Hao and the other three had put at the door and brought them into the house. The firewood ignited the honeycomb briquettes, and a fire was lit. He also fetched a bucket of water to boil water.

"Here, Xiaoxiu, have some hot water to warm yourself up." Meng Er handed over two cups of hot water, one to her and one to Zhao Gang.

Zhao Gang shook his head, signaling him to put it aside. He then held his daughter on his lap, took off her wet shoes, and placed them by the stove to dry.

"Backpack," Zhao Gang instructed Meng Er naturally. He now felt like he had gained two troublesome underlings.

However, the eldest brother doesn't just order his younger brothers around; if they are bullied, he will also help them get revenge.

Meng Er said "Oh," and happily went to get the backpack.

Grandma Meng asked Meng Da to prepare a basin of hot water for Zhao Xiaoxiu to soak her feet, as the child must be cold from wearing wet shoes all the time.

Zhao Gang was satisfied with the arrangement, and his cold expression softened. He then instructed Meng Er to take everything out of the bag.

Besides the set of clean shoes and socks he brought for Zhao Xiaoxiu, everything else inside was supplies that Zhao Xiaoxiu had collected from home for the Meng family, mother and her two children.

A clean, fluffy, thick cotton quilt, three pairs of thick leather boots, half a bowl of frog meat, thirty vials of nutrient solution, a bottle of yogurt, and ten catties of charcoal!

The Meng brothers looked at Zhao Gang in disbelief, "Brother Gang, these... these are all for us?"

Zhao Xiaoxiu said, "I carefully selected all of these. It's cold in winter, so Uncle Meng and you can all use them. Also, there's half a bowl of frog meat. It'll be delicious stewed. Let's make it in a bit, or it won't be fresh if it's left for too long."

"Oh, and there's yogurt too!" Zhao Xiaoxiu quickly put on the dry socks and shoes her father had taken out, picked up the yogurt separately, and shook her head at the Meng brothers, "This is for Grandma alone, you can't drink it."

Seeing the yogurt the little girl presented to her, Granny Meng, who had just wanted to fight Xiao Hao and the others, couldn't help but tear up.

Fortunately, the lights were dim inside, so the child shouldn't be able to see. She thought to herself.

"Silly child, Grandma hasn't liked these things for a long time." Grandma Meng stepped back, resolutely refusing.

They already owe the father and daughter enough for today, and they wouldn't feel right asking for more.

Zhao Xiaoxiu frowned unhappily and forcefully shoved the yogurt into Granny Meng's arms, "You must drink it!"

If she could reveal that she could remember things from her infancy, Zhao Xiaoxiu would say: "I was able to survive until now entirely thanks to the care of my grandmother and two uncles."

But she couldn't say, so she could only stuff the things in and run away.

Zhao Gang disliked seeing the cubs' troubled expressions, and said coldly, "Take what's given to you."

The mother and her two children, with tears in their eyes, accepted all the gifts.

Meng Er is a heartless person. He was just touched, but the next second he picked out a pair of his favorite leather boots and put them on.

Zhao Xiaoxiu mysteriously slipped a silenced gun into his hand. Meng Er immediately realized what was happening and looked down at her in surprise.

Zhao Xiaoxiu snorted and arrogantly raised her chin, "Take it, no need to be polite."
