The next morning, Jiang Yilai went to the hospital where Du Yi was. Gu Mingen hadn't returned for the past few days, and some things couldn't be explained over the phone, so she had to go there to talk to him in person.
She went to the door of the ward to observe the situation inside and saw Du Yi sitting blankly on the hospital bed, with Gu Ming'en sitting helplessly beside her.
"Xiaoyi, if you're upset about something, just say it. You haven't spoken for two days. You can even hit or scold me if you want."
“I know you blame me for lying to you, and I hate myself for being selfish back then, but what’s done is done, and all we can do is try to find a solution.”
"This time I won't run away anymore. I'll do whatever you want me to do, just tell me. I only beg you not to torture yourself like this."
"If you continue like this, we'll both go crazy."
Gu Ming'en stayed by her side every step of the way, trying to comfort her, but two days passed and Du Yi still refused to speak. This continued state of mind was almost unbearable for him.
Even Jiang Yilai felt oppressed looking at the scene from the doorway, let alone those who experienced it firsthand.
She took a deep breath and knocked on the door, but Du Yi's gaze remained unchanged.
Gu Ming'en saw her and said helplessly, "You've come."
Jiang Yilai nodded and walked in, then walked to the bedside and whispered, "Is Aunt still not going to talk?"
Gu Ming'en said with a headache, "The doctor said that if she continues like this, she will have mental problems. No matter what I say, she doesn't respond."
“I think we should take her out for a walk to clear her head. If that doesn’t work, we should send her home. The air here isn’t good either, and it won’t be good for her recovery.”
Jiang Yilai was also worried about this situation.
Gu Ming'en sighed: "I was planning to do that too. I'll take her home from the hospital this afternoon. Is there something you need?"
Jiang Yilai glanced at Du Yi. She had originally planned to avoid bringing up these things with her, but now she changed her mind. Perhaps this would also trigger Du Yi's emotions. Sometimes, venting is a way to relieve stress.
“There is indeed something I want you to do. I want you to drop the charges against Jiang Lezhen. She is not an accomplice in this matter.”
As expected, mentioning this issue made Du Yi frown and her expression change.
"We are only investigating the murderer; she has nothing to do with this and we don't want to pursue it."
Since Jiang Yilai has spoken up, Gu Ming'en will definitely not pursue Jiang Lezhen's crimes.
“This case is different in nature; it wasn’t a deliberate murder, so KIKI won’t be sentenced to death.”
Du Yi jumped up and shouted angrily, "What do you mean by that? Does it have to be stabbing my son to death to be considered deliberate? That woman deliberately wanted to kill him, and now you want to protect the criminal?"
Although Du Yi's words were more hurtful, Jiang Yilai cooperated by answering her questions.
“Aunt, since you care so much about this case, then take it over yourself. If you stay in the hospital like this, your uncle will have to stay with you all day and won’t be able to do anything else.”
Du Yi immediately stated: "I accept it now. I will find all the lawyers and make sure that murderer is executed."
Jiang Yilai said, "I will provide all the help you need, I just hope you can cheer up."
Gu Ming'en understood her intention: to inspire Du Yi's fighting spirit through this method.
Although I don't know if this is the right thing to do, it's better than her remaining gloomy every day. Now I can only take a chance.
All Gu Ming'en can do now is stand by her side the whole time and support her unconditionally.
"Xiaoyi, go for it. Whatever you do, I'll support you."
