Jiang Yilai was terrified that it was all a dream, and frantically pounded on the lock on the door, trying to rescue the child.
She didn't know what had happened, why the children had been brought to this mountain, and why there were people guarding them.
At the time, she was so focused on finding her child that she didn't notice anyone following her. If Fu Nanxiao hadn't arrived in time, she couldn't imagine what the consequences would have been.
Fu Nanxiao had fainted while trying to save her, so she needed to get the child out quickly.
With a loud bang, she smashed the lock open, shone her flashlight inside, and saw two children curled up in the corner. Her heart ached, and she ran over as fast as she could.
With tears streaming down his face, Jiang Wenchao sobbed, "Mom, I'm sorry, I didn't take good care of my sister. She fainted."
Jiang Yilai took a deep breath to calm herself down, and gently pulled him into her arms.
"Don't blame yourself. You've done a great job to hold on until now. Mom believes you've been bravely by your side the whole time. The rescue team will be here soon. Just wait a little longer."
Jiang Wenchao finally didn't have to pretend anymore in his mother's arms and started crying sadly.
"I knew you'd come, Mom! I knew it!"
“Good girl, you did a great job. Let’s take Xixi out first. Your father was injured in the cabin up ahead and needs to be looked after.”
Jiang Wenchao nodded obediently and took the flashlight from her hand so that she could free her hands to hug Jiang Wenxi.
Jiang Yilai picked up her daughter and realized that her whole body was burning up, probably due to inflammation and infection of her wounds.
She quickly picked up Jiang Wenxi and carried her out, gently calling her name.
"Xixi, can you hear Mommy's voice? Hang in there a little longer, we'll get you to the hospital soon."
Jiang Wenchao thoughtfully lit the way ahead, and following his mother's directions, they arrived at the wooden house where Fu Nanxiao was.
The situation was critical just now, and Jiang Yilai hadn't had time to examine Fu Nanxiao's injuries carefully. Only now did she see that his head was covered in blood.
Jiang Yilai's hands were trembling. She first put her daughter in a safe place and then ran over to check his wounds.
Seeing the blood and gore on his back, Jiang Yilai burst into tears. Fear gripped her, afraid that Fu Nanxiao would sleep like this forever, afraid that he would leave her.
Jiang Yilai hugged his head and sobbed, "Nan Xiao, don't sleep, open your eyes and look, I've found Wen Chao and the others."
The excruciating pain made her realize how important this man was to her.
Jiang Yilai only regretted that she hadn't understood Fu Nanxiao's feelings for her. If they hadn't had a falling out, things wouldn't have turned out this way.
She hurriedly took out her phone, but it wouldn't turn on because it had gotten wet on the way. She then searched Fu Nanxiao's pockets, but found nothing.
Seeing his mother's panicked expression, Jiang Wenchao looked around, pointed to the phone smashed by wood in the corner, and asked softly, "Mom, are you looking for this?"
Jiang Yilai looked in the direction he was pointing, and when she saw the broken phone, she was even more frightened when she thought of Fu Nanxiao's injuries.
"Nan Xiao, I'm sorry, please don't be hurt, I'm begging you, please open your eyes and look at me."
The person in her arms still didn't respond. Jiang Yilai looked at her daughter at the door, put Fu Nanxiao down, picked up a flashlight, and ran out.
Both he and Jiang Wenxi are in critical condition and need to be taken to the hospital immediately. No matter what, we absolutely cannot let anything happen to them.
