“I never asked you to give birth to me. Do you think I wanted to be born into that kind of family? Do you think I’ve gotten through all these years since you left?”
"What right do you have to hate me? You're a woman who abandoned her husband and children and doesn't understand responsibility. What right do you have to hate me?"
Zhang Ji's accusations are outrageous.
His eyes were stained with blood, and every word he uttered was filled with tears, as if his past life had been torn to shreds, memories he wanted to erase forever, yet they were etched into his soul and accompanied him for the rest of his life, until he entered the next cycle of life.
Madam Pei was speechless, yet she felt so frustrated that she seemed to be going crazy.
She raised her hand, intending to strike Zhang Ji's face again.
"Why can't I hate you? Just because I gave birth to you! Just because I'm your mother! You should be able to treat me however I want!"
Madam Pei's hand landed with a thud.
But just as he was about to touch Zhang Ji's blood-soaked face, his wrist was forcibly gripped.
There was no trace of warmth in Zhang Ji's eyes when he looked at Madam Pei; they were as cold as ice that had never melted, capable of freezing all emotions.
He pressed one hand to the ground, forcefully propped up his upper body, and with a sudden jerk of his other hand, threw Madam Pei aside.
"ah--"
Madam Pei screamed in alarm.
"Zhang Xian, what are you doing! How dare you treat me like this!"
Zhang Ji stood up, swaying slightly, before slowly regaining his balance.
He looked down at Madam Pei, who was sitting on the ground, and said without a trace of emotion.
"My name is not Zhang Xian. Zhang Xian died when he was nine years old! I am now Zhang Ji, the First Madam!"
After he finished speaking, he gave a self-deprecating laugh and slowly walked towards Ye Ningwan, who was leisurely watching all this from the window.
"You're right about one more thing: I did indeed side with Ye Ningwan!"
"However, not before, but now."
