Chapter 474: Hate me?

Chapter 474: Hate me?

Lin Miaoyin stared at Shen Yu's pale face quietly, tears sliding down silently.

Her slender fingers gently brushed across the back of his scarred hand, and those shocking wounds seemed to be engraved in her heart.

"I'm sorry... It's all my fault..." She murmured, her voice so broken that it was almost inaudible.

Beigong You stood aside, watching her mourning for another man, the rage in his chest almost swallowed him up. He suddenly grabbed her wrist with such force that it hurt her.

"If it wasn't for saving me...you could have lived well..."

Beigong You stood behind her, looking at her trembling back, his chest felt like it was burning with fire. He had never seen her like this before - crying so hard for a man.

"Lin Miaoyin." He spoke in a cold voice, every word seemed to be squeezed out from between his teeth, "How long are you going to kneel?"

She didn't turn around, didn't even move, as if his voice didn't exist at all.

Beigong You's rage finally erupted completely. He strode forward, grabbed her shoulders and forcibly pulled her up.

"Do you know who you are?!" He growled, his eyes red, "You are my princess! You cried like this for a man in front of everyone, where can I put my face?!"

Lin Miaoyin staggered a bit as he pulled her, and finally looked up at him. Her eyes were cold and unfamiliar, as if she was looking at a completely unrelated person.

"Face?" She smiled softly, but tears kept falling down, "Beigong You, do you still have face?"

Beigong You's pupils shrank, and his fingers tightened unconsciously, almost crushing her shoulders. But she seemed to feel no pain, just looking at him quietly, her eyes full of sarcasm.

"You..." He gritted his teeth, but found that he couldn't say anything to refute.

"Give me the medicine." She suddenly spoke in a hoarse voice.

Beigong You was startled: "What?"

"Youan's medicine." She stared at him and said word by word, "The medicine in the oil paper bag."

Beigong You was silent for a moment, but finally took out the small oil paper bag from his sleeve and handed it to her.

Lin Miaoyin took the medicine, her fingertips trembling slightly. She looked down at the medicine bag in her hand and suddenly smiled, with a bit of sadness in her smile.

"Beigong You." She called him softly, her voice so soft it sounded like a sigh, "Can we...really be together forever?"

Beigong You's heart was shocked, and he almost subconsciously reached out to grab her wrist: "Of course! As long as you are willing, we..."

"But I don't want to." She interrupted him, slowly pulled her hand back, her eyes cold and piercing.

Beigong You froze in place, with his fingers suspended in the air, and he did not retract them for a long while.

"What do you mean?" He said in a low voice, with a hint of danger.

Lin Miaoyin didn't answer, but turned and walked out the door. Beigong You grabbed her wrist with such force that it almost broke her bones.

"Lin Miaoyin!" He gritted his teeth, "Don't force me!"

She finally turned to look at him, her eyes frighteningly calm.

"Force you?" She chuckled, "Beigong You, who is forcing whom?"

Beigong You's chest heaved violently. He stared at her, but found that he could not refute.

"Do you hate me?" he asked in a low voice, with a hint of trembling in his voice.

Lin Miaoyin looked at him and suddenly found it ridiculous.

She brushed his hand away and came to Shen Yu's lifeless body: "Bury him properly."

Lin Miaoyin returned to her yard, the oil-paper bag in her hand seemed to weigh a thousand pounds. She slowly sat down beside the bed, opened the medicine bag with trembling fingertips, and found a few brown pills inside, emitting a faint bitter smell.

"Shen Yu..." She murmured the name, tears dripping down on the pills, leaving a wet mark. She remembered his pale face before he died, and his weak voice saying to her: "Miaoyin, live well..." But now, she didn't even have the qualifications to cry for him.

There were light footsteps outside the door, and a small figure stood timidly by the door. Youan was wearing a plain white dress, her big black eyes looked at her quietly, her lips tightly pursed. This child has never liked to talk since she was a child, and at this moment she just walked silently to Lin Miaoyin, stretched out her little hand and gently pulled her sleeve.

Lin Miaoyin looked down at her daughter. Youan's eyes were very much like hers, clear yet with a calmness that was inconsistent with her age.

She couldn't bear it any longer, so she hugged Youan in her arms and burst into tears.

Youan's little body stiffened for a moment, then he stretched out his arms and clumsily wrapped them around his mother's neck, patting her back gently with his little hands, as if comforting a wounded little animal.

"Don't cry, mother..." You'an's voice was as soft as a mosquito, but it made Lin Miaoyin's heart clench. She hugged her daughter tighter, and her tears soaked You'an's clothes.

"Youan, mother is sorry for you..." Lin Miaoyin said with sobs. She was sorry for Youan, sorry for Shen Yu, and even sorry for herself. She thought she could face everything with strength, but when Shen Yu's cold body lay there, she realized how powerless she was.

Youan shook his head, put his little hand on Lin Miaoyin's cheek and wiped away her tears.

Her movements were clumsy but gentle, and there was a hint of stubbornness in her eyes, just like Lin Miaoyin before.

At the same time, the Princess's residence was in chaos. The officers and soldiers violently rummaged through the boxes and cabinets, taking away all the precious porcelain, calligraphy and paintings.

The eldest princess was imprisoned in a side courtyard. Her once elegant face was now as pale as paper. She stood in front of the window, watching the mansion she had run for many years being emptied bit by bit, her nails digging deep into her palms.

"Lin Miaoyin! How dare you plot against me!" She gritted her teeth and said. She thought her plan was perfect, but she didn't expect that Lin Miaoyin had already noticed it and plotted against her secretly. Now she not only lost her power, but also her life.

The princess suddenly stood up and tried to run out, but was stopped by the guards with swords drawn: "Princess, the emperor has ordered that you cannot leave the Princess's mansion."

She sneered, "I want to see the emperor!"

The guard said expressionlessly, "The Emperor has issued an order that the Prince will be fully responsible for handling this matter. Princess, please save yourself some energy."

With a squeak.

The door was pushed open, and Beigong You walked in. When the eldest princess saw him, hope flashed in her eyes.

He is his son, he will definitely save him.

"You'er, are you here to save your mother?"

Beigong You looked at her coldly and said, "Mother, the emperor already knows your sins. He has imprisoned you for eternity and spared your life. This is already a generous move from the emperor. You should reflect on yourself."

“No!” The eldest princess’ eyes were red with anger. She stepped forward and pulled his clothes. “How can you do this! I am your mother!! Why should I, the eldest princess, be imprisoned for eternity!”

"I want to go out! I want to go out!"

The eldest princess let him go and knocked on the door frame. No one answered. Her eyes were red and the knocking sound gradually became less.
