Chapter 476: Diagnosis of Youan

Chapter 476: Diagnosis of Youan

Lin Miaoyin nodded slightly, with a trace of worry in her eyes: "Youan is growing up slowly, but he still doesn't want to talk much, and hides when he sees strangers... I'm worried..."

"Don't worry." Beigong You held her hand tightly, "Dr. Zhang is a skilled doctor and will definitely be able to find the cause of the disease."

The night breeze blew by, bringing a hint of coolness. Lin Miaoyin unconsciously leaned towards Beigong You, and the two of them stood there quietly, each thinking about their own thoughts.

The next morning, Doctor Zhang arrived as promised. The old man with white hair and beard carried a medicine box and came to Youan's room under the guidance of Beigong You.

"Youan, Grandpa Zhang is here to see you." Lin Miaoyin called softly and gently picked up the little girl who was hiding in the corner of the bed.

Youan opened her big eyes, which were clearly black and white, and looked at the strangers warily, her small hands tightly grasping Lin Miaoyin's collar. She was delicate and beautiful, but her face was expressionless, like an exquisite porcelain doll.

Doctor Zhang smiled kindly and took out a small rattle from his sleeve: "Little Princess, look at what this is?"

Youan's gaze stayed on the rattle for a moment, then moved away and buried his face in Lin Miaoyin's neck.

"You'an..." Beigong You took a step forward, wanting to take his daughter, but You'an dodged him. A trace of pain flashed in his eyes, but he forced a smile: "Doctor Zhang, please see..."

Doctor Zhang put down the rattle and motioned for Beigong You and Lin Miaoyin to talk outside.

"I have a general understanding of the little princess's condition." Doctor Zhang stroked his beard and frowned slightly. "This disease is called 'heart stagnation' and is more common in young children. Most children with this disease have a sluggish mind and delayed speech due to the different growth environment."

Lin Miaoyin's heart tightened: "Is it because... we failed to give her a complete family?"

Doctor Zhang sighed: "Parental love is indispensable. The little princess has seen her parents separated since she was young, and she is depressed and unresolved, so she is slow to react to the outside world."

Beigong You clenched his hands in his sleeves, his nails digging deep into his palms: "We owe her."

"Fortunately, the little princess is still young. If she can be treated in time, she may be able to recover." Doctor Zhang picked up his pen and wrote down a prescription. "This prescription is for calming the mind and nourishing the heart. One dose per day. More importantly, the parents need to spend more time with the little princess and communicate more so that she can feel complete love."

After seeing off Imperial Physician Zhang, Beigong You and Lin Miaoyin stood outside You'an's room, looking at each other in silence.

"I..." Beigong You just opened his mouth when he was interrupted by Lin Miaoyin.

"We'll take care of her together." Lin Miaoyin looked up, her eyes gleaming with determination, "Just like we said last night, we'll be ordinary parents."

Beigong You's throat rolled and he nodded heavily: "Okay."

From that day on, Beigong You and Lin Miaoyin began to take care of Youan together. Every morning, Beigong You would personally pick up Youan to wake her up, while Lin Miaoyin would prepare snacks that her daughter loved. In the courtyard in the afternoon, you could often see the family of three - Beigong You holding Youan to watch the fish swimming in the pond, while Lin Miaoyin whispered to the side about the fish's name and habits.

"This is a koi, a red one. Does it look like Youan's little skirt?" Lin Miaoyin said softly, pointing at a red carp in the water.

Youan's eyes followed the swimming fish, her little face still expressionless, but at least she began to respond to the outside world.

Beigong You saw this and his eyes flashed with joy: "You'an likes fish, right? Daddy will have someone put more beautiful fish in tomorrow."

Youan didn't answer, but her gaze stayed on Beigong You's face for a few seconds, which was unprecedented.

As the days passed, Youan's condition seemed to have improved slightly.

Beigong You held her in his arms and walked around the yard, occasionally listening quietly when Lin Miaoyin told stories, no longer completely shutting himself off as before.

The spring sunshine sprinkled gently in the courtyard. Youan squatted by the pond, gently stirring the water with his little hands.

The koi were startled by her and swam away in all directions, then gathered together not far away.

"Youan, be careful not to get your sleeves wet." Lin Miaoyin squatted beside her daughter and reminded her softly.

Lin Miaoyin accompanied her daughter and gently lifted up her slightly messy soft hair.

"I want to take you away from the capital." That night, Beigong You said to Lin Miaoyin in the study, "Go to Jiangnan, or even further south. Youan needs a new environment, away from... everything here."

Lin Miaoyin's fingers paused on the edge of the teacup. She knew what Beigong You had not finished saying - stay away from those painful memories and those who hurt them.

"Okay." She replied softly, her eyes fixed on the window. The courtyard was quiet and peaceful under the moonlight, but every inch of land here carried too many heavy memories.

The day before departure, the housekeeper came to report that Yu Lingxiu had committed suicide in the backyard.

"Princess," the butler called anxiously.

Lin Miaoyin gently smoothed out the wrinkles on her clothes. "Bury him properly."

She was tired and just wanted to live a happy life without anyone to disturb her anymore.

Lin Miaoyin looked at the moonlight outside the window and curled her lips slightly.

Shen Yu, I've let it go.

....

Three days later, a simple carriage drove out of the Zhan Wang Mansion. Youan was held in Beigong You's arms, with his little face pressed against the window, staring at the flowing scenery outside without blinking. Lin Miaoyin sat on the other side, holding a travel book in her hand, occasionally pointing out the window and telling Youan the names of the scenery.

"That's a willow tree. Look, You'an, do the branches look like the braids your mother braided for you?"

Youan did not respond, but her eyes followed the swaying willow branches until they disappeared at the end of her sight.

The carriage drove slowly on the official road, and the wheels made a crackling sound as they rolled over gravel. The early summer wind, with the fragrance of the fields, came in through the window, lifting the strands of hair on Lin Miaoyin's forehead. She closed the travel journal in her hand and her eyes fell on the two figures, one big and one small, opposite her.

Beigong You's broad palm gently protected Youan's back to prevent the child from hitting the window frame when the carriage bumped. Youan's little face was still pressed against the window, and her black grape-like eyes stared at the passing scenery outside. The sunlight cast mottled light and shadow on her face through the window lattice, outlining her delicate profile.

"There's a stream ahead. Do you want to stop and take a rest?" Beigong You raised his eyes and looked at Lin Miaoyin, his voice low and gentle.

Lin Miaoyin nodded, and a smile rose unconsciously at the corner of her lips. In the past three days, Beigong You's patience and consideration for Youan gradually melted the ice in her heart. She thought that it would be a difficult journey after leaving the palace, but she didn't expect Beigong You to arrange everything so well.

The sky was clear, the flowers were fragrant, and Lin Miaoyin was bathed in sunshine.

Looking at the father and daughter chatting and laughing in front of her, she curled her lips.

She doesn't want to think about the past, she just wants to live like this for the rest of her life.
