Chapter 101 Eliminating Three Clues

Chapter 101 Eliminating Three Clues

Qi Ling finally understood. He stared blankly at everyone, muttering, "Why lie to us? Why give us hope only to destroy it..."

Three years into the apocalypse.

He hid in the dark and sunless shelter, constantly filled with regret.

He shouldn't have argued with his father, and he shouldn't have come to the southwest in a fit of anger; his family is probably worried about him.

He just wanted to go home.

Why did these people lie to him...?

Yun Zhao looked at his forehead. As his emotions fluctuated, the pale blue ghost fire was gradually fading and darkening, almost turning gray.

"Yes, we lied to you."

Yun Zhao broke free from the man's embrace and slowly said to Qi Ling, "Then do you know why we lied to you?"

Qi Ling's body jolted violently. He raised his head, his lips trembling, but no sound came out.

He subconsciously understood that the truth was beyond his ability to bear.

Yun Zhao, however, did not want to grant his wish. She had a thought in her mind: what would happen if the creatures in the shelter learned the truth?

But before he could even speak...

Xie Tu pulled her back again and shook his head at her.

"Only one hour."

Now that we have obtained the results from the trial, and time is of the essence, we should not delay any longer.

Xie Tu looked at Qi Ling and said, "Your robot will be fine."

Once we return to the surface world, everything will return to normal.

"We just need to verify some things. As for escorting you home..."

Xie Tu paused, a subtle, complex emotion flashing across his indifferent face, before finally saying, "You can write a letter to your family. I promise that, no matter the outcome, I will send the letter out."

Once the mutants leave the contaminated area, they become cannibalistic monsters.

But you can take your things out.

I remember hearing someone mention that the researcher surnamed Qi at Hope Base was from Kyoto and was once a very wealthy man.

Xie Tu's intuition suggested that there might be a connection between the two.

Upon hearing his words, Qi Ling's expression turned to despair, as if she had resigned herself to her fate, and she finally released the robot she was tightly holding.

The robot is his vessel for remembering his loved ones; otherwise, it's just a piece of scrap metal that can no longer be started.

What's wrong with giving them the robot if they're willing to take me back?

But they were not the commanders of the central base.

They lied to everyone here!

Song Liang and Duan Xi exchanged a glance, sighed, and stepped forward to drag his robot to the cave entrance.

Tao Haohao and the rabbit, along with their spiritual forms, remained guarding the entrance to the air-raid shelter.

The air-raid shelter was very small, crammed with seven people and a pile of supplies. The only way to deal with it was to drag it outside the shelter.

The brown bear's enormous size blocked the entrance to the cave, obscuring the view outside, but the constant hissing sound of decay could be heard.

The situation outside is not optimistic.

The Zero Team members didn't want to alert the monsters, so they drew their knives and quietly dealt with the dozen or so mutants near the cave entrance, making room to deal with the Masked Robots.

Song Liangxian disassembled the robot's shell in the air-raid shelter, removed the various parts, and put them all into the box containing the face mask.

Manually destroyed in batches.

Tear it with your hands or cut it with the scissors you brought, trying not to make too much noise.

Yun Zhao took out a notebook and pen from his backpack and handed them to Qi Ling, saying, "Write down everything you want to say to your family."

Qi Ling silently took the paper and pen, turned his back and lay on the supply box, refusing to see what they were going to do with his robot.

His hopes were dashed. Did the fact that he was being asked to write a letter mean they wouldn't take him with them...?

Indeed, he's just an ordinary person, and everyone sees him as a burden.

Whether it was the researchers from my former company, or...

Or what?

Qi Ling looked somewhat confused; he couldn't remember.

Yun Zhao ignored him, handed him the paper and pen, and walked to the cave entrance, releasing his spiritual energy.

The result was the same.

The entire tunnel was teeming with monsters, none of whom could be controlled.

Even these monsters from outside have had their emotions drained.

The gatekeeper of contaminated zone 28 seems to be very xenophobic; it dislikes any living creature outside, whether human or mutant.

But it needs them, it needs emotions, to keep both worlds running.

She seemed to suddenly understand the rules.

Most of the things have been destroyed, but the world remains unchanged.

Duan Xi and his group became increasingly anxious.

Working in a tunnel full of monsters, with the constant hissing and corrosive sound of slime in their ears, undoubtedly brought immense psychological pressure to everyone.

Every few minutes, Song Liang would raise his head and point to his forehead to silently ask Yun Zhao a question.

Yun Zhao pursed her lips and shook her head slightly, the movement very small.

Because I don't know how to describe it.

The color of the flame changes, but the changes are very small, and there are subtle differences for each person.

For example, Tao Haohao's flames already have a yellow edge around them.

Surprisingly, the rabbit changed the least.

The will-o'-the-wisp on her forehead dimmed a little, but no yellow halo appeared.

Yun Zhao looked up again at Xie Tu beside him.

His expression remained calm as always, but the flames within him were changing.

A faint red mark appeared in the middle of her forehead.

What is he thinking? What's causing his emotional fluctuations?

Xie Tu seemed to sense something, turned around and looked back at her, as if he understood the emotions in her eyes, and remained silent with his jaw clenched.

It took the other five members of Team Zero half an hour to completely destroy the batch of items.

The main problem is that the robot's parts are really hard to destroy. If there's even the slightest noise, the mouthparts of nearby mutants will suddenly reach out.

They have to be on guard against attacks at all times.

Tao Haohao clapped his hands and stood up. Seeing the unchanged world, he was somewhat disappointed. "Not robots, and not Face?"

What exactly is that gatekeeper?

Are they going in the wrong direction?

Xie Tu glanced at him and spoke up at the right moment, "This trip was worthwhile; we eliminated three suspicious leads."

His words were meant to calm his teammates down.

Excessive emotional fluctuations are not a good thing.

"Captain, what should we do now?" the rabbit asked.

Xie Tu remained calm as always: "Back to the shelter."

Qi Ling on the other end had already written the letter.

He walked over with his head down, returning the notebook and pen to Yun Zhao. The letter was tucked inside the notebook; he hadn't torn it out.

"You...you really will deliver the letter to my family?" Qi Ling clearly no longer trusted them.

Yun Zhao stuffed the notebook back into his backpack, and without even looking up, said, "Asking this is pointless, because you have no choice."

"Let's go back together."

She seemed completely unconcerned about the monsters filling the tunnel.

She cannot use emotional resonance attacks, but her barrier can block her senses, making her undetectable to monsters.

Yun Zhao thought it was time to go back and meet the gatekeeper.

Xie Tu must have sensed something as well.

Because he was in the gatekeeper's domain, and his every move was under surveillance, he could not tell his teammates.

The team members quickly composed themselves and prepared to break through.

The tunnel was teeming with mutants. To get back, they had to pass through the tunnel without making a commotion that would alert the monsters throughout the tunnel.

Qi Ling followed them out of the tunnel, and hearing the corrosive sounds around them, her heart felt like it was going to jump out of her throat.

The underground tunnel was pitch black, so dark you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

He followed behind his superiors, unable to see the green fluorescent lights flying everywhere, nor the spiritual entities.

All that could be heard was movement coming from the darkness.

From time to time, faint groans of monsters falling could be heard from ahead.

Qi Ling had no idea that a huge lion and a brown bear were leading the way, protecting everyone and ensuring their safe arrival at the damaged passage.

He only breathed a sigh of relief after he crawled through the wall and returned to the shelter.

The corridor was silent; not a single soldier on duty could be seen.

Qi Ling didn't have time to think too much. He hadn't gone out at night for a long time. The shelter was safe now, or perhaps he didn't need to be on duty at night. The soldiers in Area A were already asleep and resting.

He was about to say something when he saw the leading officer leading his team, striding towards the opposite side of the elevator.

"Where are you going?" Qi Ling couldn't help but ask.
