Gu Li, who was determined to stay away from that brainless blue-ringed octopus, got entangled with it.
She was starving, having not eaten since yesterday. At this moment, she was flapping her wings and fighting one-on-one with a dark alien creature, trying to enter the house it was in and search for food.
She gritted her teeth, spun around, and took advantage of the buff from fighting the octopus. It took her ten minutes to flip the thing away and throw it aside. She then took the opportunity to sneak into its house and search it, acting like a bandit entering a village.
However, nothing was found.
Gu Li flew out with a solemn expression. She roughly understood that these dark-skinned alien species, who were being raised by someone, didn't need to hoard food.
Unwilling to give up, she picked out several more mindless, dark, alien creatures from the construction debris, which ultimately confirmed her suspicions.
That room was even more destitute than the place she stayed in yesterday; at least her place still had the suitcase she brought with her.
She drooped her wings as she walked through the desolate streets. Perhaps because her brutal act of beating up several birds in succession was too much, most of the time she only felt gazes cast from somewhere, but none of them dared to come up and harass her.
Oh no, there's one more.
Gu Li's stomach was already rumbling, and her mood plummeted. She turned around and glared at the dead octopus that had been following her all the way: "What exactly do you want from following me like this?!"
The wind blew across the space between the two, and a vein throbbed on Gu Li's forehead: "Don't think I can pretend you don't exist just because you turned your head and whistled!"
Gu Li gripped the hilt of his sword tightly and strode over aggressively. The blade flashed through the air, a silver light pointing at the large head of the blue-ringed octopus, his eyes narrowing dangerously.
"Quickly tell me what you're here for. If you don't tell me, get out. If you do tell me, get out right now."
"Hey, little sister, calm down," the blue-ringed octopus said, extending a tentacle to subtly move the sword tip pressed against its head away slightly, letting out a fawning laugh. "What are you looking for? I can help you find it."
Gu Li looked him up and down, then poked the tip of her sword back into his face: "Just tell me what you want to do."
"Tsk, he... cough, I mean you're from up there, right? Can you tell me what happened to Cecil?"
He rubbed his two wrists, which glowed with an eerie blue light, in front of him, and his strange eyes revealed a longing.
Gu Li turned her gaze away from his twisted, contorted feet, paused for a moment, and then nodded hesitantly: "You're doing alright, aren't you?"
Unexpectedly, the octopus in front of me was actually happy about Cecil's news. Its tentacles hanging down around its body wiggled slightly, but it showed no intention of leaving.
Gu Li relaxed her guard a little and casually poked him with her sword: "Do you know where there's food around here?"
Speaking with a rough accent, he introduced himself as Lancer, casually rubbing the small hole that Gu Li had poked with his wrist: "That's easy, just come with me."
Gu Li's eyes lit up. There really was food?
The two walked back to the street where they had met, and then through alleys filled with construction debris. Gu Li gripped his sword and thrust it forward without looking back, following the direction of the air current. After hearing the familiar scream, he quickened his pace and shook off the tail behind him.
She followed closely behind Lancer, who was clearing the way. This place was particularly close to those dangerous black mists, but there were even more alien species that had lost their minds. Lancer wielded his almost invincible tentacles, and the alien species that were touched by those ring-shaped objects seemed to freeze for a moment.
The two passed through more and more alien creatures and stood at the edge of the underground street. Gu Li could clearly see the black mist that raged at night, but now it was blocked by an invisible barrier.
Gu Li had a bad feeling about the black fog. She took a step back and her gaze toward Lancer gradually turned hostile: "Is there any food here?"
"Crunch, crunch—ah?"
With practiced ease, Lancer plunged his wrists deep into the black mist, coiling around a low-level, abstract-shaped creature and shoving it into the mouthparts of his tentacles, making a series of crisp "crunching" sounds.
Seeing Gu Li staring at him, he quickly extended two tentacles and plunged them back into the black mist. This time, Gu Li understood how those lower-level creatures had been captured; Lancer was using his entrapment tactics…
A moment later, a low-level creature that looked eight parts like Lancer, and even had a faint blue glow on its jet-black body, was handed to Gu Li: "Hiss, this little brat bit really hard, here, have some."
When Gu Li finally heard his matter-of-fact voice, she wiped her face and pointed out as calmly as possible, "Don't you think this thing looks exactly like you?"
Lancer scratched his head: "You don't like it?"
"It's not that problem, no, that's the problem. I don't want to eat this, thank you. And... is this really..." not poisonous?
Before he could finish speaking, Lancer threw the low-level creature into his mouth.
Gu Li stood there with her arms crossed, observing Lanse's expression. She noticed that his eyes seemed to daze for a moment, and after about a second, he looked at her with a puzzled expression.
"Why are you so picky, little girl?" He slapped her with his two tentacles, then suddenly realized, "Are you worried about food safety? Don't worry, your brother has done his research. These creatures were all born from pollution, so you won't be eating someone you know!"
After saying that, he muttered to himself, "Damn it, what kind of person do they take me for? I'm not going to eat you!"
With a rumbling stomach playing in the background, Gu Li turned around expressionlessly: "You've finished your meal, haven't you?"
Lancer was taken aback: "Not quite full yet?"
"Now that you've finished eating, I'm leaving. Consider this our farewell dinner. You've got the message, so don't follow me anymore."
Gu Li used her wings to leave, passing straight through the complicated and crowded alley, and through the hole that Lancer had hammered into the room. She closed her suitcase with a solemn expression.
She couldn't stay there any longer, so she went upstairs to get a nutrient solution and came back down!
real!
With her hind paws carrying the suitcase, she flew back to the place where she had fallen yesterday. While calmly analyzing the situation, she realized that perhaps eating lower-level creatures was also part of her training in the underground city.
The thought of that abstract image and its equally abstract taste made her stomach churn and she felt like vomiting, so she quickly stopped on top of the statue's head below the cave entrance.
Gu Li: "Ugh—"
No, she couldn't calm down.
That kind of thing wasn't even on her menu!
But the more he recalled those things, the stronger his body protested. Gu Li, starving, bit into the statue and let out a weak groan.
Why is she so hungry after transforming into a different body? She's about to start eating herself!
Sharp teeth scraped against the statue's head with a harsh sound, and in a daze, something fragrant wrapped around it, accompanied by a person's astonished outburst of profanity.
"Damn it, how come you're eating here all this time? Girl, let go! I'll take you to eat... Ouch! Damn it!"
Gu Li couldn't resist taking a bite of the tempting seafood aroma while drooling. Her brain, which still retained a sliver of rationality, went numb for a moment as she took the bite, and officially crashed.
Chestnut: gnawing and nibbling.
