Chapter 84 Dawn

The silent servant did not reply.

In fact, after Yun Wei fed Isaac enough blood, the battle between the two forces came to an end.

As Dilis's divine power was gradually enveloped and devoured by the crimson force, the dust settled, but the dark light symbolizing the victor suddenly seized control of Isaac's weakly beating heart.

As his heartbeat rose and fell, and blood flowed throughout his body, Isaac's body underwent a transformation under the dominance of the crimson power. Yun Wei could not discern whether this change was auspicious or ominous.

Through the contract between the two, Yun Wei only felt intense pain.

It was as if an invisible force was hammering his bones into powder, inch by inch, and then mixing them with flesh and blood to reassemble them. This pain was completely different from the intense mental anguish; it was pure physical torture.

The pain he felt through the contract was merely a tiny projection of the suffering Isaac was enduring. Under indescribable agony, the Servant's once serene face contorted, his jaw clenched so tightly that he could no longer feed any more blood.

Sensing the changes within the other's body, Yun Wei estimated that regardless of success or failure, the outcome would likely be revealed at dawn. So, despite his weakened state, he cleaned both of them up.

In the silent wait, an unspeakable fear welled up from the bottom of his heart, as if there were some words that he would never have the chance to say if he did not speak them now.

"Six thousand seven hundred and forty-two times." Yun Wei opened his mouth, but suddenly said a strange number.

His face was also very pale, probably from sudden blood loss.

Yun Wei chuckled softly, took Isaac's cold hand, and explained to himself, "Remember that chessboard challenge, Isaac? I was exhausted back then, not much different from now. But even then, I already liked you a lot."

“But I didn’t dare tell you that I was despicable. I took advantage of my weakness to cheat on you and make you take me back to the dormitory…” Yun Wei paused here, but couldn’t help but smile. “Then you just picked me up. At that moment, my heart was pounding so hard it felt like it was going to jump out of my throat.”

"From the moment you picked me up until you put me down, my heart pounded a total of 6,742 times. In each interval, I quietly whispered 'I like you' to you."

"It was at that moment that I suddenly realized that my feelings for you were not just about your appearance, looks, family background, and so on. Admittedly, love at first sight is also quite important, but going into that might be too vulgar and doesn't fit the theme I want to express right now."

"Look, for me, meeting you is already a miracle. Originally, I didn't want to tell you about this number because it was too embarrassing, but I'm afraid I'll never have the chance again."

After three days and three nights of intense mental strain, Yun Wei was utterly exhausted, but his eyes remained bright, like burning torches, burning themselves out without regard for their own safety.

His thoughts were chaotic and scattered, mostly fleeting ideas, as if he had thought of something and then associated it with something else.

Even so, he stubbornly wanted to wait until dawn.

It's like when he was very young, he spent New Year's Eve at his maternal grandmother's house.

Even though his eyes were already too heavy to keep open, he still stubbornly stayed up to welcome the New Year. He insisted on being drowsy and nestled on the sofa in front of the screen, waiting for the New Year's bell to ring amidst the energetic countdown from the TV presenters.

He squeezed Isaac's large hand, and had to admit that his attraction to Isaac began with physical appearance. In that damp, filthy cave, after he saw the other's hand reaching out from the coffin, he could never take his eyes off him again.

Yun Wei sighed and said, "As for you saying you're my 'fiancé' in front of Al, to be honest, I'm not angry at all. Because I've already decided on you, no matter what role you want to play by my side, you will always be my most beloved Isaac."

Whether the other person is his knight, servant, slave, lover, monarch, tyrant, or even a boyfriend, fiancé, or husband who has asserted sovereignty over others...

It doesn't really matter.

As long as Isaac still loves him, as long as those eyes still gaze with affection, that's enough for Yun Wei.

There were many people around, but Isaac said he would give him an "explanation" when it was late at night and everyone was quiet. After that, he felt a tickle in his heart, and beautiful thoughts floated in his mind like pink bubbles.

He couldn't wait until the night was deep and quiet. Perhaps he would hide in a tent that could only fit two people, perhaps he would sneak out of the camp, or perhaps he would sit around the campfire, whispering and talking amongst himself.

But what happened next was beyond everyone's expectations. That's life. There are no rehearsals or scripts. Many promises cannot withstand the test of time. Only by enjoying life while you can you avoid regrets.

Yun Wei smiled and said in a hoarse voice, "I just feel a little regretful... Our relationship progressed too smoothly. Sometimes I even feel that there was no process to pursue, and I could see the end at a glance."

"At that end, Yunwei and Isaac were deeply in love and vowed to be together forever. If you were the hunter and I was the prey, I wouldn't even want to struggle or run away; I would just expose my neck and run into the scabbard at your waist."

“I’m sorry, Isaac, perhaps because of some of my past experiences, I’m just rather insecure.” Yun Wei’s eyes flickered. He noticed that the sky on the horizon was already faintly turning white. “I don’t really believe that I can easily find happiness, so I’m rather conflicted. I value these processes because they give me a sense of reality.”

"It's like, if you want to be my 'fiancé,' then you have to get engaged to me. I know my thinking is quite ridiculous, but that's just how I am. I don't care so much about the result, but I value the process more."

The distant horizon once again turned blue and white, like a simple curtain behind a stage. The yet-to-rise sun was a distinguished guest hidden beneath the curtain, and all things waited in slumber for it to announce the official start of a new day.

Gazing at the horizon, Yun Wei couldn't help but chuckle.

He had no idea what he was doing. He rambled on and on, as if he had committed a serious crime and was going to a priest to repent.

It's all for naught; it's just unnecessary self-pity.

He forcefully squeezed his fingers between Isaac's, stubbornly interlocking them, then quietly closed his eyes, waiting for the sun to rise.

He was really exhausted.

"cloud……"

In a hazy state, he seemed to hear someone calling him from beside him.

The voice was clear and bright, like warm sunshine. The voice was also deep and tender, like alluring piano music.

Yun Wei struggled to open his eyelids, only to see a bright light shining at the edge of the horizon, bringing a golden dawn to the world.
