Ultimately, the two decided to head to the Tower of All Laws.
Firstly, they had a map seized from the Apostles of the Abyss, and secondly, Isaac swore that Aragorn, who had once entered the Tower of All Laws, said there was no danger inside.
Aragorn is one of the main characters in the "Holy Night" play, an ancestor of Temu Brown and a companion of Alch.
This was the first time Yun Wei had learned that the earliest knight had also entered the Tower of Ten Thousand Laws, but when he thought about the other party's relationship with Alch, he didn't find it strange.
In his heart, Al-H, the magician he had never met, was the ultimate mystery.
The other party is practically magic itself.
It is only natural that Alch has entered the Tower of All Laws.
After much deliberation, he finally agreed.
This day was the Feast of the Red Moon, and the celebrations at St. Lucy's Cathedral were much grander than in previous years. The glorious Church needed such an opportunity to preach its faith to the world while demonstrating the proper functioning of the Vatican.
The citizens, who had just experienced the siege crisis, were in dire need of a celebration to release the pressure in their hearts.
The same applies to colleges.
Teachers and students gathered at the square to participate in the festival celebrations, leaving the campus extremely deserted.
The two of them slipped into the academy with ease.
Yun Wei stood beneath the colossal tree that seemed to reach the heavens and the earth, gazing up at the towering oak. Because it was daytime, the shimmering light was not dazzling, but rather possessed a dreamlike softness.
This is a light that produces sound.
He wasn't sure if his description was accurate, but the leaves swayed in the wind, and the rustling of the trees sounded like a poem being hummed softly.
He looked around for a long time but couldn't find anything that looked like a door. "So, how do we get in?"
Isaac thought for a moment and then pulled the "Heart of Elements" out of his collar.
He frowned, as if listening to something.
“There’s a voice inside guiding us.” After a while, he said to Yun Wei, “Do you see that giant rock? Let’s jump up on it.”
Yun Wei looked in the direction the other person was pointing and indeed saw a dark gray boulder at the base of the giant tree, which seemed to be part of the dilapidated tower base they had seen at the beginning.
The roots of the tree, like coiled dragons, are wrapped around the giant rocks arranged in circles. It's hard to say whether the giant tree grew out of the center of the stone formation or whether these giant rocks were originally part of the Tower of Ten Thousand Laws.
He was led by Isaac and easily jumped up, then asked curiously, "You mean, there's a person living inside the Heart of All Elements?"
“No, it’s inside the tower.” Isaac didn’t know the specifics either. “I feel like the other party doesn’t mean any harm. Let’s do as he says for now.”
The two began to jump around the Tower of All Laws in a counter-clockwise direction on the relatively flat stone formation.
Yun Wei gradually discovered a pattern: the intervals between their jumps all seemed to be prime numbers.
Gradually, Yun Wei noticed that the giant tree beside him was fading away, leaving only light and shadow.
As the tree trunks disappeared, the neatly arranged stone circles were revealed in their true form. Yun Wei then realized that what was not a dilapidated tower base at all, but Stonehenge.
He remembered that in his original world, there seemed to be such a spectacle, which was later listed as an unsolved mystery.
Now, he and Isaac stood on the horizontal giant rock, all the upright rocks radiating a strange glow, intertwining to form a strange star array.
Yun Wei counted them; there were seventeen rays in total.
He looked at the center of the magic circle and said to Isaac, "This must be the entrance. What should we do? Jump down?"
“That’s right.” Isaac nodded, squeezing Yun Wei’s hand. “Ready?”
"Mm." Yun Wei nodded silently.
The two of them leaped together into the halo of light below, and the feeling of weightlessness immediately followed as they plummeted into freefall.
That adrenaline rush felt like Yun Wei's first time using the levitation technique.
He couldn't help but cry out, "Ah!—"
Then he heard Isaac shout along, but the other person clearly just thought it was funny.
Yun Wei turned his head with difficulty and looked at the other person.
The hurricane whipped the knight's hair, and Isaac was looking at him.
He suddenly felt less nervous.
...
God knows how they stopped. When Yun Wei came to his senses, he was being held by Isaac and suspended in mid-air, while Isaac's other hand was clinging to a thick branch.
Above their heads was a huge upside-down tree.
This place is similar to the spiritual sea where the Branch of Time grows, and Yun Wei's toes are only half a foot away from the boiling water below.
The shimmering lake surface glittered with starlight, faintly exuding a rich magic.
"Alright, Issa, pull me up quickly," Yun Wei pleaded. "I'm terrified."
That's elemental magic so concentrated it's practically liquid; who knows what would happen if you fell in?
Fortunately, Isaac was quite reliable. With a slight bend of his arm, he lifted Isaac up and half-held him in his arms.
“Neither of us seems to be able to use magic,” Isaac told Yun Wei this unfortunate fact. He looked up at the branches and asked, “The other side is in the hut at the base of the tree. I need to climb up. Can you hold onto my neck?”
The two were already very close, and when the other person tilted their head back, Yun Wei could clearly see the other person's prominent Adam's apple.
He nodded silently, turned his head, and hooked his arm around the other person's neck.
Isaac began to climb, the reliable warrior coordinating all four limbs, first stepping onto suitable footholds, then finding reliable positions to grab onto.
This kind of climbing is not a steady ascent, but rather a process of descending first and then ascending, using the momentum of swaying to advance.
As the knight bobbed up and down, Yun Wei grew increasingly nervous, as he was merely hanging on the other's neck, which was not secure enough.
The mage's frail body was so vulnerable in a space where magic could not be used; he could only bury his head in the other's chest and give them his complete trust.
However, the branches were not evenly distributed, and the next branch was quite far away. After Isaac estimated the distance, he finally used his momentum to swing over.
Yun Wei suddenly felt himself being lifted into the air, and could only instinctively hug the knight in front of him tightly.
When he came to his senses, he realized that his legs were wrapped around Isaac's lean waist. He was actually like a soft-bodied animal, using both his hands and feet to entangle the other man.
The physical sensations were incredibly clear; the other person's chest rose and fell slightly, accompanied by soft, panting breaths that reached my ears.
This pose is far too ambiguous.
Even though the two were already very close, Yun Wei suddenly became so shy that she couldn't lift her head.
He's so useless.
I'm so embarrassed.
But having a fulcrum made the new position much more stable, so much so that it was absolutely impossible for him to let go.
He resignedly closed his eyes and quietly listened to the two very different heartbeats.
The sounds rose and fell, as noisy as beating drums.
Isaac, who was suddenly entangled, was stunned in mid-air.
It seemed to be the first time he had been hugged so tightly by Yun Wei.
Compared to his own hardness, the other person appeared incredibly soft.
But it is not fragile.
He clearly understood one fact: at this very moment, he was being trusted by Yun Wei without reservation.
This realization actually made him feel incredibly satisfied.
Even though their posture was somewhat ambiguous, he had no ulterior motives.
On the contrary, he felt a surge of pride that he would never voice.
His muscles finally found a use.
Isaac glanced furtively at his master's ears, which were red to the point of bleeding, and a smile crept onto his face.
He continued climbing higher, his lithe limbs seemingly possessing inexhaustible strength.
If only this upside-down oak tree could grow taller.
