What a coincidence!
As Xin Yi sat in Jin Xiaoxiao's carriage, listening to the sound of the wheels turning, the scene of Jin Xiaoxiao saving people in front of Zhu Huatang finally disappeared from her mind.
After regaining her senses, Xinyi looked at the little girl sitting opposite her and belatedly asked, "Where are you taking me?"
Jin Xiaoxiao gave a friendly look: "I'll take my sister to my house."
Xin Yi's expression changed, and she said gruffly, "You, don't talk nonsense. I'm a man."
Seeing that she was quite frightened, Jin Xiaoxiao immediately apologized, "I'm sorry, brother. Sometimes I can't tell people's faces apart, and you're so good-looking, I must have been mistaken. I promise I won't call you by the wrong name again."
Hearing Jin Xiaoxiao's sincere apology, Xin Yi felt a little embarrassed. She knew what Jin Xiaoxiao said was true, and she had overreacted.
Xin Yi's ears turned red, and her eyes darted around, avoiding Jin Xiaoxiao's gaze. "Why do you want me to go home with you? Is there a sick person in your family who needs treatment?"
Jin Xiaoxiao's expression turned worried. "My family member is sick."
Jin Xiaoxiao didn't press for details, which made Xinyi much more at ease. When she heard that a family member was sick, Xinyi stopped being awkward and seriously inquired about the patient's symptoms.
"Could you describe the specific symptoms?"
Jin Xiaoxiao shook her head. "Brother, my family has already seen a doctor. I invited you here for something else."
Xin Yi asked, puzzled, "What is it?"
"I asked my brother to come home so that I could make an antidote for the swelling."
Xin Yi was stunned. Having a boil, she could only leave it to fate. She had never heard of a doctor daring to say that there was a cure for boils.
Xin Yi was conflicted. She had followed the little girl back because she had witnessed her amazing rescue skills and wanted to know how it happened. But the little girl's ideas were too unconventional. Should she continue to follow her?
Seeing that she didn't believe her, Jin Xiaoxiao didn't explain further, her dark eyes fixed on Xin Yi, "Please help me make it, brother."
Xin Yi met her gaze, and as if possessed, she agreed.
The two, both preoccupied with their own thoughts, remained silent the entire way.
With Ji Yun and the others injured, Bai Guo vaguely guessed what Xiao Xiao was planning to do. Therefore, when Jin Xiao Xiao made her request, Bai Guo dared not delay and even mobilized the perfume shop's employees.
When Jin Xiaoxiao returned home, Baiguo had already collected everything moldy that she could, as Jin Xiaoxiao had requested.
"Xiaoxiao, is there anything else you need?"
Jin Xiaoxiao checked it and nodded. "Thank you, Sister Baiguo. Now go to the kitchen and have them cook a pot of taro soup, rice juice, and corn juice, and send it to my lab."
After hearing this, Bai Guo ran to the kitchen.
After instructing Bai Guo, she told Granny Qin, "Granny, call someone to help me peel garlic."
Jin Xiaoxiao's two sentences got most of the Jin family involved, and Xin Yi watched in amazement.
After Jin Xiaoxiao took Xin Yi to see the patients, they entered the laboratory, where everything she needed had been prepared.
Before closing the door, Jin Xiaoxiao instructed Baiguo and Granny Qin to take good care of Ji Jun and the others. Then she looked seriously at Green Ivy and her maid Pearl, "You two guard this door. Remember, no one is allowed to enter."
After receiving their assurances, Jin Xiaoxiao closed the door tightly.
Looking at the mess on the ground, Xin Yi showed a regretful expression.
Jin Xiaoxiao didn't care whether she regretted it or not. Since the person had already been brought here, she had to obediently cooperate with her in extracting allicin and penicillin.
Green Ivy and Pearl stood guard at the door, occasionally overhearing strange conversations inside.
Why soak and pound the ingredients?
"Activate enzyme activity."
What is enzyme activity?
"You can understand it as the medicinal properties of herbs."
Why add lime when pounding garlic?
Same as above.
"Wow, this liquor is really strong!"
"It has been purified."
Why add vinegar?
"Inhibits unwanted bacteria."
What are miscellaneous bacteria?
"Things that make people sick."
......
Although Green Ivy and Pearl couldn't understand their conversation, it didn't stop them from admiring their girl.
Pearl opened her eyes wide and exclaimed, "You're really amazing, young lady. You know everything!"
At that moment, Green Ivy suddenly understood why the old lady had bypassed her sons and entrusted the heavy responsibility of the family to Jin Xiaoxiao alone. The girl was witty and intelligent, kind to others, and more importantly, she had an ability to easily gain people's trust.
Green Ivy listened intently and realized that the doctor the girl had specially invited to the room had already submitted to her.
Xu Ce waited at the palace gate for a while before seeing Wei Ran, who arrived late.
Wei Ran dismounted and clasped his hands in a fist salute to Xu Ce, saying, "I was delayed for a while by dealing with family matters. Please forgive me, Lord Xu."
Xu Ce waved his hand and said with a smile, "It was I who arrived earlier, General Wei, there's no need to take it to heart."
Wei Ran walked alongside him on the palace road, and Xu Ce chatted with him, "General Wei, how are your family affairs going?"
Wei Ran replied simply, "Successfully."
"Smoothly and conveniently—"
Before Xu Ce could finish speaking, Wei Ran suddenly interrupted him, "Lord Xu, guess who I ran into while dealing with family matters?"
Xu Ce thought to himself: If he asked this question, the person must be someone he and Xu Ce both know, and someone with whom he has a closer relationship. But none of those with whom he has a closer relationship are in the capital. Could it be someone from the Jin family?
Xu Ce had a candidate in mind, but he pretended to be surprised and turned to look at Wei Ran. "I can't guess. Please speak frankly, General."
Wei Ran didn't beat around the bush, "The Jin family's child last night."
It was indeed Xiaoxiao. Xu Ce replied perfunctorily, "What a coincidence."
Wei Ran said meaningfully, "It is quite a coincidence that she saved my niece."
Xu Ce remained silent. This child was too kind-hearted.
As the sun began to set, Xu Ce, having finished his audience with the emperor, hurried towards the palace gates, carrying the imperial gifts bestowed upon him as a reward.
After exchanging pleasantries with his friend Yin Qi, who was on duty at the palace, Wei Ran turned around, only to find that Xu Ce was nowhere to be seen.
Yin Qi put his arm around his shoulder and peered ahead. "Hmm? Are you waiting for someone?"
Wei Ran turned around, "No."
Yin Qi looked around and whispered in his ear, "If you want to stay in the capital, go to Fanghua Palace." After giving the hint, Yin Qi said with a wicked smile, "Wei Ran, let's go to Fuxing Restaurant tonight, it's your treat."
Wei Ran pulled his shoulder away. "Call Yue Jia. I have something to do, I'm leaving."
Yin Qi watched him leave, then glanced back at the direction of Fanghua Palace. Since ancient times, emperors have been the most ruthless.
Xu Ce arrived at the Jin family's house before sunset.
He had just stepped across the threshold when he heard a familiar voice call out to him, "Lord Xu, what a coincidence."
Xu Ce turned around and met Wei Ran, who had just dismounted. "General Wei?"
Wei Ran picked up the gift box in his hand and said, "I'm here to thank my niece and Miss Jin."
His reasoning was perfectly valid, and Xu Ce gave a dry "oh".
The two traveled together again, but Xu Ce had no desire to speak anymore.
The butler led them to the front hall, and shortly after, Jin Yuanyu, the eldest son of the Jin family, appeared there.
Jin Yuanyu recognized Xu Ce and nodded to him. He then turned his gaze to Wei Ran and asked directly, "Young master, what brings you here?"
Even Wei Ran had never met someone as direct as him.
Xu Ce grabbed a teacup to cover the smile on his lips.
Wei Ran opened the gift box. "This morning, my niece was saved by your esteemed lady. This is a token of my gratitude. In addition, I would like to personally thank Miss Jin for saving my niece's life."
Jin Yuanyu only glanced at the valuable gift the whole time. When he learned the purpose of Wei Ran’s visit to the Jin family, he stroked his beard and smiled, “Saving a life is a good deed that brings good karma. Young master, there is no need for such formal thanks.”
Before Wei Ran could reply, Jin Yuanyu continued, "I already know about this matter. I accept your thanks on behalf of my daughter. It's getting late, so I won't keep you any longer. Please, sir!"
"Pfft, cough cough. I apologize for my rudeness." Xu Ce quickly put down his teacup and stood up. He never expected Minzhi's father to be so straightforward. But it's quite interesting.
Xu Ce cupped his hands in greeting and followed Jin Yuanyu's words, saying, "It is indeed getting late. In that case, I will take my leave."
Jin Yuanyu was much more casual with Xu Ce. He waved his hand and said, "You don't need to leave. You can stay."
Wei Ran tactfully stood up, his expression unchanged, and said, "Farewell."
Jin Yuantang also stood up, "Please take care, young master."
Wei Ran walked out of the front hall and casually looked around the Jin family. Suddenly, his ears twitched, and he turned around and saw Jin Xiaoxiao running rapidly.
Seeing this, Wei Ran gave chase.
Jin Xiaoxiao ran to Ji Jun's bedside in one breath. Looking at Ji Jun lying on the bed with a dark face and unconscious, she didn't even have time to catch her breath before raising her right hand to shove the garlic into his mouth.
Xin Yi hurriedly stopped her, "Wait, wait, first, wake him up."
Jin Xiaoxiao leaned down and whispered in Ji Jun's ear, "Ji Jun, wake up. I've made the medicine. You'll feel better after taking it."
Ji Jun sensed Jin Xiaoxiao's call, barely opened her eyes, and moved her lips.
Jin Xiaoxiao listened intently and heard him say, "Okay."
Jin Xiaoxiao fed him garlic extract, her eyes slightly moist, "You'll get better."
Ji Jun swallowed the pill with difficulty, then closed his eyes and fell into a deep sleep.
Jin Xiaoxiao blinked quickly, holding back her tears. She turned and went to Jin Minzhi's bedside.
Jin Minzhi leaned against the pillows and gave Jin Xiaoxiao a warm smile, "Xiaoxiao, you've worked hard, brother cough cough—"
Jin Xiaoxiao quickly pressed him back onto the bed and put the pill into his mouth. "Brother, take the medicine and rest well. You'll be fine."
Kim Min-ji nodded obediently.
Watching him swallow the pill, Jin Xiaoxiao walked towards Jin Yuantang's bed.
Wei Ran stood at the doorway and witnessed the entire scene. He thought coldly: It was all a waste of effort. None of them would survive. In his army, anyone exhibiting similar symptoms was doomed.
Wei Ran's lips curled into a cold smile as he took a deep breath and scaled the wall.
After feeding them the medicine and waiting for them to fall asleep, Jin Xiaoxiao took Xinyi back to the laboratory.
After an afternoon, Xin Yi had been completely won over by Jin Xiaoxiao.
Although Jin Xiaoxiao is still young, her mind is full of interesting knowledge. Most importantly, Jin Xiaoxiao patiently answers her questions! If Jin Xiaoxiao were ten years older, she would definitely kneel down and ask her to be her teacher!
Xin Yi saw Jin Xiaoxiao fiddling with the green moldy mixture. Xin Yi's eyes lit up, and she moved closer to Jin Xiaoxiao, "I'll do it, I'll do it, you tell me how to do it."
Jin Xiaoxiao did not refuse and directed her to do the work, "Take two layers of fine linen and Xuan paper and filter these juices."
Xin Yi rolled up her sleeves. "No problem."
Magnolia has a real talent for pharmaceuticals. Jin Xiaoxiao stared at it for a while and gradually became distracted. She wondered if the allicin had worked.
