Chapter 9: Doesn't know what an opponent is
After infuriating the two girls, Wen Yao calmly returned to Fu Jinzhi's office.
In the end, no one knew what the two people's names were.
Seeing that Fu Jinzhi was still busy, Wen Yao did not go over to disturb him. Instead, she sat on the sofa and browsed Fu Jinzhi's WeChat Moments, hoping to find a trace of information about Bai Yueguang.
According to the outline provided by 8848, the white moonlight is a typical young lady from a wealthy family: gentle, dignified, and kind, and she and Fu Jinzhi can be considered childhood sweethearts.
However, given the precedent of the female lead having two faces, Wen Yao didn't really trust the vague outline.
Fu Jinzhi's WeChat Moments posts are very few, not even monthly, and you can't find any useful information at all.
She had only been scrolling through her phone a few times when Wen Yao received a WeChat message.
Zhao Xinting: Image.jpg
Zhao Xinting: Did you see that? You can never replace Ruoruo's position.
Who is this? Wen Yao's eyelashes were filled with doubt as she clicked on the picture sent by Zhao Tingting.
It's a photo of Fu Jinzhi and a girl, seemingly taken on a cruise ship, and the atmosphere is quite intimate.
The girl wore a pale yellow dress and a beige shawl. She was slender and had a pretty face with a faint smile in her eyes and brows.
Fu Jinzhi in the photo was clearly very young. It's not that he's old now, but back then he exuded youthful vigor and high spirits. A smug smile graced his handsome face as he leaned against the railing with his hands in his pockets.
Wen Yao unconsciously recited a line: "That year, I had my hands in my pockets and didn't know what an opponent was."
Hearing Wen Yao say something vaguely, Fu Jinzhi looked up at her and asked, "What's wrong?"
"It's nothing, you go ahead with your work."
Fu Jinzhi continued working. He processed the documents very quickly today so that he could leave work on time and take Wen Yao to see Fu Yan.
Wen Yao sized up Fu Jinzhi. He was wearing a black suit, with a tall and straight figure, broad shoulders and a narrow waist. When he was working seriously, he had no expression, which added a touch of asceticism.
"Sigh, it's good for men to be young." Wen Yao glanced at the screen again, looking at the young Fu Jinzhi, how radiant he was!
This time, however, the voice was louder, and Fu Jinzhi heard it clearly. He put the pen aside, his peach blossom eyes devoid of any smile, and his voice was cool, "So you're saying I'm old..."
He is 26 years old this year, four years older than Wen Yao, and he never felt anything about it. But when he heard Wen Yao's heartfelt sigh just now, some strange emotions suddenly welled up in his heart.
"How could that be? There are advantages to being older!" Wen Yao's eyelids twitched, and she quickly tried to salvage the situation.
"Oh? What's the benefit?" Originally, he just wanted to tease Wen Yao, but when she actually said that she was old, Fu Jinzhi frowned slightly, with a half-smile.
"Instead of watching the boy grow up, why not have a heart-to-heart talk with the old man?"
"Hello old man, old man, you have a minimum living allowance, and if you die, we can still find you."
"Shut up!" Fu Jinzhi was so angry he laughed. He picked up his pen and continued reading the document. "Say one more word and the old man will take you with him when he's gone."
Wen Yao instantly fell silent, as quiet as a chicken.
[Host, if I could, I'd really like to trade three years' worth of my salary for a mouth of yours.]
"No, it's no use." Wen Yao feigned sadness. "Even if you sew my mouth shut, my words will still come out through my eyes. You know, the eyes are the windows to the soul."
"Some birds can't be caged."
[...]
So you just have to do this stupid thing, right? 8848 really doesn't know if it's because it encountered a weirdo right from the start, or if it's because it hasn't seen enough people.
【I still suggest you be gentler when communicating with the male lead, otherwise how can you win his favor?】8848 earnestly advised.
"What do I need Fu Jinzhi's favor for?" Wen Yao asked, puzzled. This didn't seem to have anything to do with her mission. "My mission is simply to stop him from breaking the law and to change my own fate of starving to death!"
[Winning over the male lead is a shortcut; on one hand, it changes the plot, and on the other hand, as his lover, you have more power to interfere with his actions.]
"I don't want to. I'm here to work, not to sell myself," Wen Yao said righteously.
"Winning over Fu Jinzhi will cost a different price!"
8848 felt exhausted. Why was this host so stubborn?
Ignoring 8848's exhaustion, Wen Yao continued looking at her phone.
Perhaps seeing that she hadn't responded for a long time, Zhao Xinting thought she had hit a nerve and sent a few more WeChat messages.
Zhao Xinting: Fu Jinzhi and Ruoruo are childhood sweethearts, a match made in heaven.
Zhao Xinting: Even though she is no longer here, she will live forever in Fu Jinzhi's heart.
Wen Yao opened Zhao Xinting's WeChat Moments. A minute ago, she posted a nine-grid photo that read: "I still miss you and will always remember you."
The one in the very center is the group photo that was just sent over.
Wen Yao continued scrolling down and only after seeing a few selfies did she confirm that Zhao Xinting was the short-haired girl from before.
She seems to be An Ruoruo's best friend, no wonder she targeted me like that.
Wen Yao was a little puzzled. Why didn't she have Fu Jinzhi and Fu Yan's contact information, but she had Zhao Xinting's WeChat? Their relationship was obviously not good!
Are we going to band together if we're all cannon fodder?
Just as I was wondering what was going on, Zhao Xinting sent another WeChat message, like a triumphant parrot.
Zhao Xinting: You know it yourself, right? Fu Jinzhi only married you for the child in your belly.
Zhao Xinting: But what does a child matter to someone of our family background? There are plenty of people willing to have children for us.
Zhao Xinting: If you don't want things to end up ugly, you should have some self-awareness and get a divorce quickly.
Wen Yao laughed, a hint of malice in her eyes. She was bored anyway, and teasing this person would relieve her boredom.
Wen Yao walked over to Fu Jinzhi with her phone, circling around him and adjusting the angle to take a photo together.
"What are you doing?" Fu Jinzhi asked with a hint of helplessness in his eyes.
Wen Yao pointed to her phone screen, indicating that Fu Jinzhi should cooperate with her to take a picture.
Fu Jinzhi actually turned around, put his arm around her shoulder, and a seemingly intimate photo was born.
After getting what she wanted, Wen Yao made a small heart shape with her thumb and forefinger to express her gratitude to Fu Jinzhi.
"Are you mute? Why aren't you saying anything?" Fu Jinzhi found it amusing.
Wen Yao still remembered his previous words, "Say one more word, and the old man will take you with him when he's gone."
He honestly shook his head, "I'm afraid you'll take me away."
Fu Jinzhi felt like he had used up all the anger he had accumulated over the year, and now he just found it funny. He lightly tapped Wen Yao's head and continued with his work.
Wen Yao started teasing the cats and dogs, trying to mess with Zhao Xinting's mindset.
Cures all kinds of dissent: Image.jpg
I'll shut you up: Who says I can't be replaced? I've already replaced you, and I'm even closer to you now!
A cure for all dissent: An Ruoruo will live forever in Fu Jinzhi's heart? Okay, anyway, Fu Jinzhi is living in my bed now.
Specialist in dealing with all kinds of dissent: It's strange, An Ruoruo herself hasn't said anything yet, why are you, her best friend, in such a hurry to urge me to get a divorce?
A master at silencing dissent: Ah, you wouldn't happen to be the man who's also eyeing your best friend, would you?
Upon receiving these messages, Zhao Xinting was consumed by rage. A fierce expression twisted on her face as she smashed her phone away.
"You bitch!!!"
The curly-haired woman next to her leaned closer with concern, "Cousin, what's wrong?"
Zhao Xinting gritted her teeth and said fiercely, "Xi'er, Wen Yao and Fu Jinzhi have started to develop feelings for each other, and she said that she has long since replaced Ruoruo."
"She even said that I went to see her because I was thinking about Fu Jinzhi! How could that be? I would never steal my best friend's man!"
Unbeknownst to her, upon hearing her last sentence, the curly-haired girl next to her, Zhao Xier, had a flicker in her eyes.
