During the time Zhao Moyan was unconscious, Tian Yu transferred Qiu Ju to the front yard to help watch over Zhao Moyan and kept the news of Zhao Moyan's injury a secret. She also adjusted her mood and went back to the east yard to have dinner with Tang Yuan. She subtly told Tang Yuan that Zhao Moyan was sick and needed someone to take care of him. Tian Yu hoped that he would not disturb Zhao Moyan for the time being and would go to see him when he was better. Tang Yuan was a little worried, but he still agreed. He also urged Tian Yu to return to Zhao Moyan's side as soon as possible, saying that his father needed someone to take care of him. He was a man and Tian Yu did not need to worry. Green Willow would take good care of him.
Just as they returned to the front gate, Uncle Zhou rushed over and said, "Madam, the Marquis has a fever."
"When?" Tian Yu asked as she quickly ran towards Zhao Moyan's residence.
"Qiuju just discovered it," Uncle Zhou said, following closely behind.
Tian Yu ran into the room, where Li Xingyun was already taking Zhao Moyan's pulse at the bedside. When Qiu Ju saw Tian Yu arrive, she quickly came over to greet her and said, "Madam, not long after you left, the Marquis felt unwell. I brought some hot water to wipe the sweat from his forehead, but I found that his forehead was getting hotter and hotter. I didn't know what to do, so I informed the steward and Doctor Li."
"I understand, you can go now!" Tian Yu said, then walked to the bedside and looked at Zhao Moyan, who was still unconscious.
After taking the pulse, Li Xingyun looked at the servants in the room, then at Tian Yu. Tian Yu nodded knowingly and said, "Uncle Zhou, please take the others out first. The Marquis needs some peace and quiet."
After Uncle Zhou and his servants left, Li Xingyun turned his wheelchair and left the bedside, saying, "I said that the Marquis's external injuries were not deep, but the injuries on his back were more serious. However, the injuries in his heart are hard to say. Tian Yu, what have you done to him to make such a strong person so fragile?"
"What do you mean? I didn't do anything!" Tian Yu looked at Li Xingyun in confusion, while wiping Zhao Moyan's forehead.
"It seems Zhao Moyan is suffering from unrequited love. I can't cure that. I'll give him some fever reducer later and use your previous method to bring down his fever. If he can get through tonight, he should be fine," Li Xingyun said, pushing the wheelchair to the door.
"Alright!" Tian Yu got up, opened the door, and called the butler to bring some wine. She then had the servants take Li Xingyun back to his room.
Tian Yu dismissed the servants and personally cared for Zhao Moyan, carefully wiping every part of his body that could be wiped. She then changed him into clean clothes. Only then did Tian Yu clearly see that Zhao Moyan was covered in wounds, with not a single patch of undamaged skin. Even his thighs and calves had obvious scars. Looking at the numerous scars on his body, she wondered how he had survived all these years, from a frail scholar to a general and marquis. Tears blurred her vision. Looking at Zhao Moyan lying on the bed, Tian Yu felt a pain she had never felt before. Even when Chen Chong left, she had never felt such pain. Yet, she had caused all of this herself. Perhaps he would never forgive her!
Zhao Moyan had a recurring fever that night, and Tian Yu stayed by his bedside the entire time, taking meticulous care of him. As dawn approached, Tian Yu summoned Qiu Ju and Steward Zhou to watch over him. She returned to the east courtyard to quickly wash up and change into clean clothes. Opening the wardrobe, she found many clothes Zhao Moyan had prepared for her; she only had a small bag of her own in the corner. After thinking for a moment, Tian Yu chose a light blue dress that Zhao Moyan had given her. After changing, she ate breakfast with Tangyuan. The first thing Tangyuan said upon seeing Tian Yu was, "Mother, why are you different today?"
"What's different?" Tian Yu asked with a smile.
"Hmm!? It looks even better!" Tangyuan tilted her head and thought for a moment.
"Really?" Tian Yu still looked at Tangyuan with a smile.
"Yes, it's getting better and better. Is Father feeling better?" Tangyuan said affirmatively, then remembered Zhao Moyan's worried question.
"I'm feeling better, Tangyuan. Don't worry, Mommy will take good care of Daddy," Tian Yu said, patting Tangyuan's head.
"When can I go see Daddy?" Tangyuan asked, feeling wronged.
"When Father wakes up, I'll take you to see him, okay?"
"All right!"
"Let's eat first, the master will be here soon."
"Okay, has Father eaten?"
"Father can't eat yet, Mother will cook some porridge for him later."
When Zhao Moyan opened his eyes, he saw Qiuju and Uncle Zhou guarding his bedside. He was disappointed not to see the person he wanted to see. He thought of how reluctant she was to part with Chen Chong and wondered if she had already left. Did she ultimately choose Chen Chong? He closed his eyes in despair, not wanting to recall any of this.
"My lord, my lord, you're awake!" Qiu Ju exclaimed excitedly as she noticed Zhao Moyan had opened his eyes.
"My lord, my lord has woken up! Quickly inform the madam!" Uncle Zhou shouted excitedly.
"Yes, I'll go right away," Qiuju said happily.
"No need!" Zhao Moyan said weakly. Hearing them mention Tian Yu, Zhao Moyan visibly moved, gripping the bedsheet tightly. He propped himself up, not understanding their meaning, and weakly asked, "Madam, she?"
Zhou Bo and Qiu Ju stood there looking at each other, stunned. Zhou Bo said cautiously, "Madam has just left. Would the Marquis like something to eat? This old servant will have the servants prepare it."
"You don't need anything, you can all leave!" When Zhao Moyan heard his reply, he thought Tian Yu had really left, and he immediately lost all his strength.
Uncle Zhou and Qiu Ju looked at each other and had no choice but to step back and stand guard outside the door.
Tian Yu delivered the glutinous rice balls to the study and then returned to the front yard. As soon as she stepped into the yard, she saw Uncle Zhou and Qiu Ju standing outside the door. Thinking that something had happened again, Tian Yu quickly lifted her skirt and ran to them, asking, "What's wrong? What's wrong, Lord Marquis?"
"Madam, the Marquis has woken up! He's alright! You don't need to worry," Uncle Zhou said excitedly.
“The Marquis wishes to be alone, so he asked us all to leave,” Qiuju added.
"That's good! You can go now. Qiuju, go check if the medicine is ready." Tian Yu said softly, relieved.
After the two left, Tian Yu hesitated for a long time in front of the door, wondering whether to go in or not. But then she remembered that Qiu Ju had said he wanted to be alone for a while, so she withdrew her outstretched hand and finally turned around and went to the kitchen.
When Li Xingyun heard that Zhao Moyan had woken up, he went into the room with the help of the servants to check on Zhao Moyan's injuries. He was relieved, but seeing that Zhao Moyan looked like he was about to die, he shook his head, gave him a few simple instructions, and left the room.
Zhao Moyan had no interest in listening to any of this. He simply said he was fine and there was no need to trouble himself. But in his heart, he was thinking that Tian Yu had already left and would never come back. In the end, he still couldn't keep her. The pain in his heart far outweighed the physical pain. He dismissed everyone again; now he just wanted to be alone.
