Chapter 117 Assassination Attempt (Part Two)

After waiting for a long time, the man in black didn't strike down. He fell to the ground with a thud. Qiu Ju, seeing the fallen man in black, was so frightened that she dropped her sword. The others turned to look at Qiu Ju, who had ambushed them from behind. Tian Yu opened her eyes and shouted, "Run!"

Qiu Ju was terrified and ran back. Just as the men in black were about to attack Tian Yu and Qiu Ju, they were suddenly struck by arrows and fell to the ground. Then came the sound of horses' hooves. Seeing Li Yong leading his troops, Tian Yu's doubts deepened. The men in black behind her fell one after another. Tian Yu turned around and looked at the corpses on the ground. Her legs went weak and she knelt down, vomiting violently. Before she could catch her breath, she shouted, "Tang Yuan! Tang Yuan!"

"Mother! Mother, I'm here!" Tangyuan crawled out from under the carriage and ran towards Tianyu.

Tian Yu couldn't stand up anymore, so she could only open her arms and hug Tang Yuan, only feeling relieved after confirming he was alright. Li Yong led his troops to wipe out the men in black; three escaped. Tian Yu told him not to chase them anymore. Li Yong returned to Tian Yu's side and said, "Sister-in-law! Are you alright?"

"What do you think?!" Tian Yu said angrily.

"It's my fault for being late, which caused my sister-in-law to be in danger," Li Yong said, bowing his head.

"Don't call me sister-in-law! What exactly happened, and how did you find out?" Tian Yu asked.

"This... I don't know either!"

"You don't know! What does he mean? He sends people to kill us on one hand, and people to save us on the other. What is he trying to do?!" Tian Yu completely broke down and shouted loudly, ignoring Tang Yuan who was still beside her.

"I don't know what you mean, but you asked me to protect you when you left. As for the rest, I don't know and I can't say."

"You won't talk! What do you mean? Weren't those people sent by him?!"

"I...I don't know either. If you think so, then it is!" Li Yong said, bowing his head and forcing a smile.

"Li Yong! You better explain yourself! What do you mean by 'I think it is,' then it is!" Tian Yu was furious. What on earth was he trying to do?

"Well... maybe we should go back first, it's not safe here!" Li Yong said with difficulty.

Tian Yu thought of the glutinous rice balls in her arms and nodded in agreement. With Li Yong's escort, they finally entered the city smoothly. Li Shi was very worried and had been waiting at the city gate. When she saw Tian Yu and the others arrive, she finally felt relieved. Li Xingyun in the wheelchair finally managed a smile.

Under Li's care, Tian Yu didn't care about anything else. Li Yong seized the opportunity to send them to the clinic and left quickly, afraid that Tian Yu would ask him any more questions.

Tian Yu watched helplessly as Li Yong escaped from her. She was frustrated by being entangled with Li Shi and didn't want them to worry, so she could only watch Li Yong leave and be dragged into the house by Li Shi to rest.

Lying in bed, Tian Yu couldn't fall asleep. If it really was Zhao Moyan who did it, why did Li Yong come to save her? If not, then who else wanted to kill her? When did her life become so valuable that it required so many assassins? She pondered and pondered, but still couldn't find an answer. She thought that Jifeng might know something, but Jifeng was, after all, the prince's man, and he wouldn't speak without the prince's permission. Now, only Li Yong could give her the answer. She had to find out everything!

The next day, when Tian Yu went to find Li Yong, the adjutant said that Li Yong had gone out on business and was not in Shancheng. Tian Yu asked him curiously when he left, and the adjutant said that he had left last night, which seemed to mean he was avoiding her.

Tian Yu arrived at Yanyu Tower, but Yu Niang knew very little about the news from the capital. She could only find out that the Marquis of Zhenbei and the Third Princess were indeed engaged, but she couldn't find out anything else, especially about Zhao Moyan.

On the way back, two carriages collided. The carriage carrying rice was about to tip over towards Tian Yu. Tian Yu couldn't dodge in time, but the next second a dark shadow flashed by, and Tian Yu stood steadily a few meters away from the carriage in a safe place. But the person who saved her disappeared in the blink of an eye. Tian Yu didn't even see the person clearly, let alone thank them!

Back home, Tian Yu couldn't shake off her unease. For safety reasons, Ji Feng stayed at the clinic all day and noticed that someone was watching. For the clinic's safety, Tian Yu decided to move out so that at least the clinic wouldn't be implicated. When she told the Li couple about her idea, they naturally refused. Li Xingyun's attitude was firm this time: he wouldn't allow Tian Yu to live outside, and they would share the burden if anything happened.

Mrs. Li was very worried about Tian Yu and held her hand, saying, "Never go out alone next time."

"Madam! How about I go out with you next time?" said Gale.

"Don't worry! There are so many soldiers patrolling the city, I'll be fine. No matter how powerful they are, they won't kill people randomly in the middle of the city! Jifeng, you should stay at the clinic. They need you more here. I'll have to trouble you for a while!" Tian Yu said to them.

“You can say whatever you want! But you can’t move out!” Li Xingyun said.

“Yes! Our daughter must not move out!” Li also said.

"But...but they want me, I don't want to drag you down with me!" Tian Yu said with difficulty.

"Don't worry! They won't make a move here! Don't fret!" Li Yun said.

After discussion, Tian Yu agreed not to move out for the time being, and to go out during the day as much as possible, with Lvliu and Qiuju taking turns to accompany her. The others would stay at the clinic and not go out unless necessary.

Walking down the street that day, Tian Yu was still fretting about how to move out of the clinic. As she crossed an overpass, a man carrying a log suddenly dropped it. Startled, Tian Yu managed to shove Qiu Ju aside, but the next second, a dark figure kicked the log away. Tian Yu only saw a figure with its back to her, looking like a young boy. Just as she was about to reach out to say thank you, the boy disappeared into the crowd. Qiu Ju scrambled to her feet and ran over to support Tian Yu, saying, "Madam! Are you alright!"

"nothing and you?"
