"You haven't had dinner yet, have you?"
"No! The Marquis is still building houses over there. Your soft heart will keep us busy for a while."
"I'm sorry! I know I shouldn't have done this, but..."
"Alright, you seem to be fine. If you feel bad, why don't you cook us dinner? It's been so long since we've had your cooking."
"Okay! I'll go right away."
Tian Yu went to the kitchen and quickly stir-fried a few dishes and cooked some porridge. By the time Tian Yu finished cooking, Li Xingyun had finished his doctor's appointment and Zhao Moyan had returned. Tian Yu brought them hot water so they could wash up and eat.
Tian Yu went to call the others, but they all said they had already eaten. Judging from their expressions, Tian Yu was a little skeptical, as if they were afraid to eat with them. But they all said in unison that they had already eaten and wouldn't eat anymore, so Tian Yu didn't know what to say. There were only the three of them at the table. Tian Yu served rice to the two of them and said, "Eat quickly! They've all eaten, only the two of you haven't eaten yet."
"My lord, please eat! Tian Yu hasn't cooked since you two parted ways. I had to beg her to cook this time," Li Xingyun said with a smile.
"Haven't I ever cooked before?" Tian Yu asked in confusion.
"No! I haven't cooked a single meal of it."
Zhao Moyan looked at Tian Yu across from him. Tian Yu blushed, lowered her head, and didn't dare to look at Zhao Moyan, picking at her rice bowl.
"Hmm, Tian Yu's stir-fry is still the best. It's a pity that the Marquis isn't here, so we can't enjoy it."
"It's delicious! Eat up, I'll make it for you again next time." Tian Yu frantically piled food onto Li Xingyun's plate, hoping to shut him up.
Zhao Moyan picked up his chopsticks and began to eat slowly. Tian Yu couldn't tell what he was thinking, but fearing he might overthink it, she said, "I haven't had time to cook lately because I've been busy farming."
Zhao Moyan paused for a moment, then continued eating. It seemed only Li Xingyun enjoyed the meal; Tian Yu ate a few bites without tasting anything before quickly slipping out. She felt like she was going to be stared through the skin if she stayed any longer.
Dinner was finally served outside, and everyone looked for a place to rest. There were too many refugees, and the makeshift shelters were not enough. They could only settle some of the elderly, women, and children first. Fortunately, the straw from before was not lost, and the others huddled in the straw piles and could barely get through the night.
Li Xingyun had been treating patients all day and was exhausted, so Xiao Wu pushed him back to his room to rest. Everyone else had also been busy all day, and Tian Yu told them to go back and rest as well, because they had things to do tomorrow.
"You should go back to your room and rest too. I'll stay here. They'll take turns keeping watch, so don't worry, nothing will happen," Zhao Moyan said as he walked to Tian Yu's side.
"I'm not sleepy yet. Why don't you go and rest first? I'll stay here and watch for a while."
"Alright! Whatever you say!" With that, Zhao Moyan sat down on the spot, sword in hand, leaning against a tree and closing his eyes. Seeing him so casual, Tian Yu wondered if he wouldn't catch a cold. She had caught a cold last time because she had stayed outside all night. She looked around, trying to find a place for him to get a good night's sleep, but everywhere was crowded. The thatched huts were all full, several people sharing a room. It seemed that only her room was empty. After hesitating for a while, Tian Yu squatted down and looked at Zhao Moyan, whispering, "Lord Marquis, you'll catch a cold sleeping here."
"Where will we sleep?" Zhao Moyan asked without even opening his eyes.
Tian Yu said even more quietly, "Why don't you come to my room and rest for a while?" As soon as she said it, Tian Yu felt it was inappropriate. She looked at Zhao Moyan uncertainly, hoping he hadn't heard her. But Zhao Moyan suddenly opened his eyes and looked at Tian Yu. Tian Yu swallowed and carefully said, "I didn't say anything."
Zhao Moyan quickly stood up and said, "I'd better obey!" Then he walked towards Tian Yu's room without any hesitation.
Tian Yu stood up and reached out to grab her, opening her mouth as if to say, "Shouldn't you have refused? Or at least considered it first? You don't have to react so quickly. Why do I feel like I've been tricked?"
