Chapter 244 Escape!

Finally, three nights later, on a dark and windy night, Tian Yu went to bed early. When it was quiet outside, she secretly dressed, her pregnant belly protruding, and climbed out of the window. She bypassed the sleeping eunuchs, who had been behaving themselves these past few days, so the guards had relaxed their vigilance. Tian Yu was able to leave the East Palace smoothly and head towards the most secluded cold palace that the princess had mentioned. When Tian Yu arrived at the place the princess had described, Li Xingyun had already set up the explosives as Tian Yu had instructed. The princess had not yet arrived, and Tian Yu was a little worried, but she could only wait patiently.

The appointed time has arrived, but the princess has not yet arrived. An explosion can be heard in the distance; it is Li Xingyun's men who have lit the fire. Li Xingyun tells Tian Yu to wait here and not to leave, while he goes out to check.

Tian Yu paced back and forth anxiously. Fortunately, Li Xingyun came running with Xiao Qi, who was still fast asleep, and the princess. After putting Xiao Qi down, Li Xingyun prepared to light the fire. The princess gasped and said, "If it weren't for that explosion, I probably wouldn't have been able to escape."

Li Xingyun saw that they were about to light the fire, and Tian Yu said to them, "Cover your ears and open your mouths wide."

Another, even louder explosion rang out, blasting a large hole in the palace wall. Tian Yu and the others dusted themselves off and looked at the scene before them. Tian Yu couldn't believe how powerful the explosives were. The others looked at her in horror, and Tian Yu quickly reassured them, "They used too much explosive, so it's very powerful. Let's go quickly."

The group quickly got up and went outside. Prince Wu had already escaped safely and was waiting for them in a carriage not far away. Startled by the commotion, they rushed to the blasted wall.

“Here I am, Your Majesty,” the princess gestured.

Without delay, the group quickly got into the carriage and headed out of the city. On the carriage, Prince Wu said, "How did you manage to make such a big hole in the wall?"

"It was explosives made by Tian Yu that caused this," the princess explained, reassuring Xiao Qi.

"Amazing!" Xiao Qi had already been woken up by the explosion and said excitedly.

"So amazing!" Prince Wu exclaimed.

"I didn't expect it to be so powerful. Luckily, I didn't have to use it all."

"There were two explosions just now. Did you blow up two places?"

“Yes, the other place is in the east, farthest from the Cold Palace, so we'll have time to escape,” Li Xingyun explained.

"You've thought of everything quite thoroughly. I reckon Your Majesty will be quite busy right now."

"Where are Yu Niang and Ji Feng?" Tian Yu asked.

"Don't worry, I've already told them to hide for now and not come out," said Prince Wu.

"That's good. I wonder how the elderly and children in the village will be?" Tian Yu was still a little worried.

“They are just ordinary people, Your Majesty would not take your anger out on them.”

"Too."

The palace was in chaos. First, a loud explosion came from the east, alarming all the guards. When they discovered it was a false alarm and no one was suspicious, an even louder explosion came from the Cold Palace in the west. The guards rushed there and saw a wall blown open. When the Crown Prince arrived and saw the scene, he was furious and ordered his guards to search the entire palace to find the culprit. Suddenly, he remembered something and rushed back to the East Palace, only to find Tian Yu gone. At that moment, guards reported that the princess and the Seventh Prince were also missing, and the eunuchs said that Physician Li was no longer in the palace. The Crown Prince was enraged and ordered all guards to leave the palace to search and bring Tian Yu and the others back.

The guards obeyed and left the palace. The Crown Prince smashed everything in Tianyu Palace on the ground. Seeing Rong'er kneeling in the corner, he grabbed her and said, "I told you to keep an eye on the Crown Princess. Where is she?"

"This servant doesn't know. This servant has been guarding outside the whole time and hasn't left for even a moment," Rong'er said, lowering her head in fright.

"Useless thing, she's trying to run away, didn't you notice?"

"This servant truly did not know. When they were there, the Crown Princess always sent me away. This servant knew nothing. I beg Your Highness to spare my life!"

"Get out!" The Crown Prince threw Rong'er out the door and said to the old eunuch beside him, "Send someone to Prince Wu's residence, don't let them escape."

"Yes, this servant will go right away."

"What's going on?" Consort Li walked in with a graceful posture and asked with a smile.

The Crown Prince glanced at her but didn't say anything. Consort Li said, "Alright, you may all leave."

After everyone had left, Consort Li walked to the Crown Prince's side, reached out and touched his chest, and said with a smile, "Who has made our Emperor so angry?"

The Crown Prince grabbed Consort Li's wandering hand, glared at her, and said, "Consort Li, please have some self-respect. This is the Eastern Palace."

"What's wrong with Your Majesty? Why are you treating me like this?"

"You should go back now, I have other matters to attend to."

"Really? Tian Yu ran away, and you're that angry? His Majesty hasn't come to see me in a long time." Consort Li wrapped her arms around the Crown Prince's neck and asked softly.

The Crown Prince remained silent, letting Consort Li do as she pleased. Consort Li reached out and unbuttoned the Crown Prince's clothes, laughing as she said, "Your Majesty, in your heart, is she more important or am I? How come you've forgotten me now that you've ascended the throne? I've been longing for Your Majesty to come and see me."

The Crown Prince didn't speak, but carried Consort Li directly to the bed. Li Weiwei was standing by the side wall, her face pale as she heard her aunt's giggling coming from inside. She had come out of curiosity after hearing that Tian Yu had run away, but before even entering the palace gates, she saw her aunt go in first. She had always wondered why the Crown Prince had dismissed all the late Emperor's concubines, keeping only her aunt. Seeing her aunt dressed so alluringly today, and remembering Tian Yu's questions about her aunt, she had secretly hidden in a corner out of curiosity, never expecting to overhear this. Li Weiwei felt her body was no longer under her control. The Crown Prince she so admired, the Crown Prince who had always despised her, was having an affair with her aunt! She felt both disgusted and furious. Tian Yu must have known all along.
