Chapter 252 Stubborn Persistence

On the evening of the fourth day, Wu Yaohui saw that Tian Yu still refused to compromise, so he had the palace maids prepare some food. He sat at the table and looked at Tian Yu lying on the bed, saying, "As long as you are willing, you will still be my empress."

"What do you really want?" Tian Yu asked weakly.

"All I want is you, why won't you believe me?"

Tian Yu closed her eyes, not wanting to pay attention to him. Wu Yaohui strode to the bedside in anger and grabbed Tian Yu without any pity, saying, "Fine! Since that's the case, tell me what you used to blow through the palace walls that night."

Tian Yu laughed, then smiled and said, "Is this why you want me? Or is it that saying, 'If you get me, you get the world'?"

Wu Yaohui flung Tian Yu away, wiped his hands, and said, "I gave you a chance, but you didn't cherish it. Don't forget that the bastard child you had with Zhao Moyan is still in my hands."

When the child was mentioned, Tian Yu smiled contemptuously and said, "So you've been waiting here all along. I can tell you, but I want to know what kind of medicine you gave me and why I lost my memory."

"It's not just about forgetting; in another month, you will only obey my orders and follow my commands. Even if you don't want to, you will obediently do as I say."

Tian Yu was shocked. Was he trying to turn her into his puppet? How could there be such a vicious person in the world?

"What's wrong? Are you scared? This is a secret formula specially prepared for you by a shaman I specially invited from the Western Regions. It can control a person's mind and make them obedient to the person administering the medicine. Do you like it?" Wu Yaohui said with a wicked smile as he looked at Tian Yu.

"Your Majesty truly thinks highly of me, going to such lengths. Aren't you afraid that I'll forget everything and you'll end up with nothing?"

"No, I'll only forget what I want you to forget, and remember what I want you to remember. How about that, are you satisfied?" Wu Yaohui said with a smile, lifting Tian Yu's chin.

Looking at his smile, Tian Yu felt disgusted. How could someone be so perverted, so psychologically twisted? She had initially thought he was just being treated unfairly, which was why he was acting strangely, but now it seemed that wasn't the case. He was simply trying to control himself because the Emperor was present. Thinking of the late Emperor, Tian Yu's eyes suddenly lit up, and she looked at Wu Yaohui before her, asking, "How did the late Emperor die?"

"You could have guessed that?"

Upon hearing his answer, Tian Yu instantly understood that the late emperor had not died of natural causes. Li Xingyun had always found it strange, but had never revealed the truth to her. Now it seemed that the late emperor had indeed died an unnatural death.

"He should have died long ago. I only kept him a little longer because of your kindness. But I also want to thank him. If it weren't for him, how could you have married me? Don't you think so?"

"I initially thought you were just psychologically twisted, but now it seems you've become a psychopath. I have nothing more to say, but I'll ask you two final questions."

"What do you want to ask? Just say it, you'll forget it all soon enough anyway."

"Was Consort Li involved in the massacre of the Zhao family back then?"

"I am not entirely clear about this matter either, but I can tell you that the Zhao family has indeed been wronged."

"The second question is, you orchestrated Zhao Moyan's death."

Wu Yaohui didn't say anything, but laughed loudly as he got up and left. When he reached the door, he said to the palace servants, "The Empress is still not well. Serve her a medicinal bath and give her the medicine! Keep a close eye on the Empress!"

Tian Yu lay on the bed in despair, closed her eyes and tears fell. A voice in her heart kept telling her that she couldn't go on like this. Although Zhao Moyan had left, they still had two children and relatives to protect. She had to do something to change the current situation.

After being forced into a medicinal bath by several palace maids and then forcibly given medicine, Tian Yu lay exhausted on the bed. Everything she had just remembered was slowly becoming increasingly blurry. She got up and vomited into the flowerpots in the room until she felt her stomach was empty. Only then did she stop and drag her weary body to the table. She drank some water, then, crying, desperately stuffed the food that hadn't yet been cleared from the table into her mouth, telling herself as she ate: "I am Tian Yu, from Lao Zhao Village. I have a son named Tangyuan, and he's waiting for me to come and get him. I can't forget, I absolutely can't forget. The person I love is Zhao Moyan. I can't forget, I absolutely can't forget."

After eating, Tian Yu felt her strength return. She wanted to find a pen to write down what she wanted to remember, but all the pens, ink, and paper in the room had been taken away. Finding nothing useful, she smashed the teacup on the table and carved the names she could think of onto the table, the pillars, and all the wood in the room: Tangyuan, Li Xingyun, Prince Wu, Princess, Qiuju, Lvliu, and Jifeng. Of all the names she knew, the one she remembered most often was Zhao Moyan—the person she least wanted to forget.

The next day, when Wu Yaohui came to check on the situation, he opened the door and saw that the furniture and pillars in the room were covered with writing, all of them people's names. At a glance, he saw the name Zhao Moyan, and some of them were still stained with blood. Wu Yaohui's face turned ashen. He searched for Tian Yu and found her asleep under the table, still holding a shard of a cup in her hand, with only half of the inscription on it.

Wu Yaohui took several deep breaths and shouted to the palace maids outside, "Has the Empress taken her medicine?!"

"Your Majesty... I drank at the latest," the palace maid replied tremblingly.

"Increase the quantity! Take away all the porcelain in the room!" After saying that, he kicked the palace maid away and strode away. If he stayed any longer, he might make a move against Tian Yu again. Recalling the look in her eyes when she looked at him that time, he quickly went to Li Weiwei's palace.

Tian Yu was dragged into a bathtub by several palace maids and made to soak in a medicinal bath again. No matter how much Tian Yu struggled, she couldn't resist them. Tian Yu didn't want to give up, so she spilled the medicinal bath everywhere and even dragged two palace maids into the water. When it came time to drink the medicine, Tian Yu had learned her lesson. She picked up the cup herself and drank it all in one gulp, ignoring their surprised looks. She angrily said, "Get out! I want to rest!"
