Chapter 266 Escape!

That day, Hash kindly said, "For so long, I've been putting in a good word for you with the King. Now I'm giving you another chance. If you're willing to submit, the King will still treat you well. But if you're still stubborn, don't blame me for not warning you."

"Is it good to be a lackey of the Mongol Kingdom?" Zhao Moyan asked coldly.

“I am a Mongolian, how can you call me a lackey?” Hash said, still unwilling to give up.

"As far as I know, your mother is from the Wu Kingdom and was taken by your father."

"You're talking nonsense! My mother and father have a very good relationship. That's not true!"

"Really? So she taught you so much Han culture so that you would frame Wu Guo?"

"It was Wu Guo who abandoned my mother first, so what's wrong with me doing this!"

"Fine! I'll submit to you, but I want to know who's been helping you behind the scenes," Zhao Moyan said bluntly.

Hash paused for a moment, then laughed and said, "Shouldn't you have guessed it already? Of course, it's your rival who wants to kill you."

Zhao Moyan had heard so much news from him these past few days and had roughly guessed what was going on, but he still didn't want to believe it. However, he thought that as long as Tian Yu and the border army were still there, everything would be alright.

So Zhao Moyan feigned surrender and was imprisoned back in his luxurious bedroom. After months of maneuvering, he won Princess Jasmine's heart. The king was very pleased and decided to marry his most beloved princess, Jasmine, to Zhao Moyan. This gave Zhao Moyan some freedom, and he also secretly discovered their collusion with Wu Yaohui. No wonder their information was so accurate, knowing so much about him and Tian Yu; they had spies in the Wu Kingdom's palace all along. But after reading the letter Wu Yaohui wrote to them, Zhao Moyan still couldn't believe it. Who was Tian Yu's father? Why did Wu Yaohui order them to use this to seduce him? Was the child not his? Tian Yu, why did you do this?!

Zhao Moyan wanted to continue the investigation because he discovered that besides Wu Yaohui, there seemed to be another person involved, perhaps connected to the Zhao family's past misdeeds. When Zhao Moyan found an opportunity to sneak into the King's palace, he searched for evidence and finally found several letters in a hidden compartment. He quickly read through them, folded them up, and put them back, quietly returning to his room. It turned out that someone had indeed framed the Zhao family back then, and to his surprise, this person was Li Linfeng's sister, Consort Li, now the Dowager Consort Li. Zhao Moyan remained calm and continued his clandestine investigation, hoping to find more evidence about the events of that year and identify the mastermind behind it all. He reasoned that it was impossible for the Dowager Consort Li to have done it alone; someone else must have been involved.

Princess Jasmine was beautiful and had an exotic charm, but she was also playful. One day, Zhao Moyan was strolling around the palace, hoping to sneak into the inner chambers. Unexpectedly, the little princess saw him. Zhao Moyan quickly pinned her against the wall, covered her mouth, and warned her not to make a sound. The little princess, far from being afraid, nodded vigorously in agreement when she saw Zhao Moyan. As Zhao Moyan slowly released her, the little princess smiled and said, "You're the prince who submitted to me?"

Zhao Moyan ignored her. Seeing that no one was around, he let go of her and prepared to leave. However, the little princess was persistent and followed him all the way. She had heard her father talk about this person before and had always longed to see him. Today, she finally saw him. From then on, she would come to find Zhao Moyan every day, looking at him with admiration and asking him all sorts of questions about the Wu Kingdom. Zhao Moyan had no mood to deal with her and was too busy avoiding her.

Just as Zhao Moyan finally managed to sneak into the inner palace to find more evidence, he was discovered. A large number of soldiers rushed in and seized Zhao Moyan. Zhao Moyan did not resist and surrendered. The soldiers took Zhao Moyan to the training ground, where the old king and his ministers were present. Hash approached him and said, "I knew you wouldn't submit easily. The evidence has been found?"

"Who's behind this? Your high priest?"

“I don’t know which one you’re referring to. Is it the Zhao family’s affair from back then? Or your ex-wife’s affair?” Hash asked.

"What do you want to do?" Zhao Moyan asked Hash threateningly.

"I was even planning to marry my most beautiful princess to you, but you still won't give up!" the king said angrily in broken Chinese.

"I already have a wife and children!"

"Good! Guards! Take him away!"

"What are you going to do? Where is your high priest?" Zhao Moyan was pulled away by a group of people and asked.

"You'll know everything once you win."

Pushed and shoved by the soldiers, Zhao Moyan, his hands bound, was led to the center of the training ground. He looked around; a crowd of onlookers surrounded him, including the little princess, who seemed very anxious. Just then, the soldiers released three vicious wolves. Seeing this, Zhao Moyan sneered. A wolf pounced, but Zhao Moyan dodged. Then another wolf pounced, and before he could dodge, he used his bound hands to smash the wolf's head. Thus began the battle between man and wolf. The spectators watched intently, while the little princess paced anxiously, begging her father to release Zhao Moyan. The old king, of course, refused and ordered the princess to be taken away and imprisoned.

Zhao Moyan dodged several times, but the rope in his hand got caught in the wolf's bite. Taking advantage of the situation, Zhao Moyan forcefully broke it, grabbed the wolf by the neck, and threw it several meters away. The other two wolves became frenzied and pounced on Zhao Moyan. Using the wall behind him, Zhao Moyan leaped up and kicked the two wolves away. The three wolves were defeated. The old king was very angry and asked Hash beside him, "Didn't you say you didn't know martial arts?"

“This… I don’t know either,” Hash said, bowing his head.

"Useless, a bunch of useless trash, release them!" the old king shouted.

Zhao Moyan had secretly vomited up every time they gave him the medicine, and after his internal energy recovered, he gradually forced the medicine out of his body. He had been pretending that he wanted to investigate everything before leaving, but now it seemed he had no choice but to go back first. After the three-headed wolf had made a hasty escape, the soldiers opened another gate. The crowd on the platform, hearing the king's shout, held their breath and waited. Zhao Moyan watched the gate warily, and a large white tiger slowly walked out. The crowd erupted in commotion. The tiger circled Zhao Moyan, and Zhao Moyan dared not relax his guard. Suddenly, the white tiger leaped and pounced, knocking Zhao Moyan to the ground. The surrounding audience watched this scene with excitement. The tiger thrashed around for a while, and everyone thought Zhao Moyan was doomed. But the next second, the tiger's body slumped to one side. It turned out that Zhao Moyan had already stabbed it to death with a dagger hidden on his body. The king was furious when he saw this and sent troops to capture Zhao Moyan.
