The city gate was about to close, but Li Yong knew his elder brother hadn't returned yet, so he anxiously led his soldiers to guard the gate. When he saw someone approaching in the distance, Li Yong quickly rode up to meet them. As he got closer, he saw Tian Yu in Zhao Moyan's arms, looking drowsy, and asked, "Brother, what's wrong with sister-in-law?"
"She has a fever. Ask Li Xingyun to come. I'll take her back to Hongyuan first. How's Tangyuan?" Zhao Moyan didn't stop and rode all the way back to the county town.
"Don't worry, brother, with Uncle Zhou looking after things, nothing serious will happen."
"Okay, let's go into the city first."
The two rode their horses quickly into the city. In her dazed state, Tian Yu heard Li Yong's voice and realized that they had arrived in the county town before she completely lost consciousness. The soldiers behind them quickly closed the city gates after they entered the city.
Upon arriving at the entrance of Hongyuan, Zhao Moyan dismounted, picked up Tian Yu, and strode into his bedroom. The servants followed closely behind. Tangyuan, along with Xiaoju and Maorong, heard that their parents had returned and rushed over to see what was happening. When they saw Tian Yu lying on the bed, they were so frightened that they burst into tears. Tangyuan cried, "Daddy, what happened to Mommy?" Xiaoju didn't dare to ask, but she also stood to the side with tears in her eyes, watching Tian Yu.
"Tangyuan, don't cry. Your mother is fine, just a little tired and has a fever. The doctor will come and take a look soon." Zhao Moyan was also a little anxious. He touched Tian Yu's forehead and felt that it was even hotter. He thought it was all his fault. If he had kept an eye on her and not let her jump into the pool, maybe she wouldn't have gotten a fever.
"Do you have a fever?" When Tangyuan heard that Tianyu had a fever, she thought for a moment, wiped away her tears, and quickly ran out. Maorong Xiaoju followed her out and went to the kitchen to get a jar of wine before running back to the room.
Zhao Moyan was focused on taking care of Tian Yu and didn't pay attention to Tang Yuan. He ordered a servant to bring a towel to wipe Tian Yu's forehead. Fortunately, Li Yong had already arrived with Li Xingyun. When they entered, they bumped into Tang Yuan, who was also carrying a wine jar and running back to the room. Li Yong was about to ask Tang Yuan what she was doing when Tang Yuan dashed to the bedside, held the wine jar in front of Zhao Moyan, and said breathlessly, "Father, this can help reduce the fever."
"What is this? Wine?" Zhao Moyan asked, looking at Tangyuan as he took the jar from his hand and smelled it.
"Yes, it's wine. Mother told Tangyuan before that wine can reduce fever. When Uncle Chen had a fever before, Mother used this to reduce his fever."
"How to use it?"
"Tangyuan saw Mom use it to wipe Uncle Chen's chest, back, armpits, neck, and forehead. Yes! That's it." Tangyuan tried hard to recall the scene he had spied on outside, and said to himself. He nodded firmly after speaking.
The servants present all lowered their heads upon hearing this, Li Yong's eyes widened, while Li Xingyun calmly smiled slightly at Zhao Moyan. Zhao Moyan's face remained cold, revealing nothing of his thoughts. He then turned to look at Tian Yu, whose cheeks were flushed from fever on the bed, gripped the towel in his hand tightly, and got up to let the still-smirking Li Xingyun take Tian Yu's pulse. He then led Tangyuan to the outer room and looked at Tangyuan seriously, asking, "Are you sure your mother did this back then?"
"Yes, that time Uncle Chen had a high fever just like Mother, but he refused to call a doctor. Mother used this method to bring down Uncle Chen's fever. After taking the medicine and taking a nap, Uncle Chen was fine the next day."
By this time, Li Xingyun had finished the diagnosis and said with a smile, "It's a fever caused by catching a cold. I brought some fever-reducing medicine; have someone take it and brew it." After saying that, he took the medicine box from Li Yong, who was still surprised and angry, took out a packet of medicine, and handed it to Uncle Zhou. Uncle Zhou quickly instructed the servants to brew the medicine.
"While the medicine is being decocted, why don't you give it a try, Lord Marquis? It might work," Li Xingyun said with a smile.
"Brother, when I see him next time, I'll kill that bastard," Li Yong said angrily.
"Alright, all of you, go down," Zhao Moyan said in a deep voice.
Tangyuan seemed oblivious to the terrifying atmosphere among the adults. She returned to the bedside, looked at Tianyu again, and softly hummed, "Mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm mmm, la la la la la la la la la."
Just as they were about to leave, they stopped when they heard the noise. Zhao Moyan asked Tangyuan, "Tangyuan, what are you doing now?"
“Singing! When Uncle Chen was sick, Mom sang this song, and Uncle Chen fell asleep quickly,” Tangyuan said innocently.
The people in front of the door were stunned again. Li Yong lowered his voice and said fiercely, "Brother, just say the word and I'll go and catch that bastard Chen Chong tonight to avenge you."
Li Xingyun smiled even more broadly and said, "Madam is truly thoughtful, even more so than I, the Divine Doctor Li! Lord Marquis, you must take good care of Madam!" After saying that, he went out to the front living room to wait. Zhao Moyan was frighteningly calm and told Li Yong to go down first and not to say anything more.
Zhao Moyan then had Uncle Zhou take Tangyuan and Xiaoju away. When only the two of them were left in the room, Zhao Moyan picked up the wine and towel on the table, stood in front of Tian Yu's bed, looked at the sleeping Tian Yu, and felt complicated. He told himself that he shouldn't blame her, and that he should blame himself. He was the one who left first. Even if she got together with someone else, it was normal. He was the one who was wrong, but he still couldn't help but be damned angry.
Struggling to control his emotions, Zhao Moyan looked at Tian Yu, who was still feverish on the bed, sat down beside her, gently helped her sit up against him, brushed her hair to one side, removed her clothes, poured some wine on a towel, and began to wipe her chest, back, armpits, neck, and forehead as Tang Yuan had instructed. The more he wiped, the angrier he became, a nameless fire burning within him, yet his hands were gentle as he wiped Tian Yu's chest, slowly and carefully. Watching the rise and fall of her chest, Zhao Moyan gentlemanly looked away, thinking that she had grown up and was no longer the timid, weak, and thin little girl she once was. Although she wasn't a beauty now, she had blossomed into a graceful young woman, possessing an aura he had never seen before. He called her a lady, yet sometimes her actions were not ladylike; he called her superficial, yet she seemed to know and understand more than he did. She was truly a strange woman. After wiping Tian Yu's face, Zhao Moyan felt that her fever had indeed subsided considerably. She dressed her, and a servant brought in the prepared medicine. Only then did Zhao Moyan open the door. Tangyuan rushed in first and knelt by the bedside, while Xiaoju followed behind, not daring to approach. Zhao Moyan sat down, helped Tian Yu sit up, and took the medicine from the servant. She scooped it up with a spoon, blew on it, and fed it to Tian Yu. The first two spoonfuls were fine; Tian Yu drank them without reaction. But as soon as the third spoonful was fed, Tian Yu winced in pain, refusing to swallow, and the medicine dribbled from the corner of her mouth. Zhao Moyan fed her two more spoonfuls, both of which dribbled out. Tangyuan looked anxious and said, "Mother, please drink your medicine!"
