"Medes!"
As soon as Carter finished speaking, he suddenly threw the ashes in his hand forward.
"Cough cough cough..."
Catherine, standing in front of Carter, was not spared either, coughing from the ash that was scattered from the furnace.
At that moment, a slender female undead, covered in furnace ash and with ghostly blue flames in her eyes, stood less than five steps away from Catherine, holding a dagger in each hand.
Seeing that she had been exposed, she no longer hesitated and swiftly stabbed the dagger in her hand towards Catherine's neck.
clang!
Catherine reacted quickly, hurriedly using the dagger in her hand to block the attack.
However, the female undead soon followed with another dagger, and Catherine felt a pang of tension, realizing she had no way to block the attack.
Clang!
The dagger in the female undead's hand did not fall, but instead broke in two. It was Medes, who had arrived, who drew his sword and blocked the attack.
The remaining skin and flesh on the female ghost's forehead were squeezed into a "川" shape, indicating that this was not something she had expected.
She stopped attacking and turned her gaze to Carter at the doorway.
Medes was about to rush forward and swing his sword, but Carter stopped him.
"Medes, stop!"
Medes stopped, though puzzled.
He held up his steel sword, protecting Catherine, whose body was covered in furnace ash.
"Lan, after all these years, you haven't changed at all!"
Carter put down the hammer in his hand and took a few steps forward.
"..."
"Still so quiet!"
"Then I guess the new city lord doesn't like you very much!"
"..."
"I don't know what this young lady did to offend you, but I don't think you came here on the city lord's orders, right?"
"You should know that killing someone indiscriminately in Sandstone City will not be easily forgiven by the city lord. After all, he has always wanted to create a peaceful and tranquil Sandstone City so that he can collect more taxes!"
"..."
"You can leave now, but don't blame me for being ruthless if there's a next time!"
"..."
The female ghost sheathed her dagger and walked towards the door.
"Cartel!"
Medes watched the female undead about to leave the room, feeling somewhat unwilling. After fighting the tribe for so many years, he didn't think he should let her leave so easily.
Carter didn't speak, but just looked at Medes and shook his head.
The female ghost brushed past Carter, only glancing at him as she left the room.
The female ghost left, and Catherine dusted off the ashes from her head before walking over to Carter with Medes.
"She's not someone to be trifled with. If it really comes down to a fight, Catherine might still get hurt!"
Carter glanced at Catherine, becoming somewhat curious about her identity. This female undead, Lan, would not normally leave the city lord's mansion, much less kill an unrelated person at will.
Catherine didn't say much, she just nodded slightly.
"Where's Joey?"
Carter suddenly seemed to remember something and ran outside.
Because of Catherine, Medes did not follow.
...
"What do you want with me here?"
Joey looked at the orc who had stopped running and slowly walked up to him. Even with only one orc, he wasn't too scared.
"Foolish humans!"
The orc didn't understand Joey's words, but instead looked at him with disdain in orcish.
"Shouldn't they be cunning Alliance dogs and stupid Horde pigs?"
Joey looked at the orc in front of him with amusement, this time speaking in the orc language.
"You can speak orc language?"
"What's so difficult about that? Would you like me to teach you a few words of English?"
"English?"
"You know the English for 'Son of the Beach,' right? I think it suits you perfectly!"
"How dare you mock me! I've never heard of English since I was born on this continent!"
"That's because you're uncultured. Just because you haven't heard of it doesn't mean it doesn't exist!"
"You're asking for it!"
The orc's original intention was just to lure Joey away. Although he didn't know why Lan had specifically instructed him to lure Joey away, he was now completely enraged by Joey.
He took a giant axe from behind his back and charged straight at Joey.
Joey instinctively reached for his waist.
"Damn it, Medes has already cut my sword in half!"
"This attempt to show off backfired spectacularly, and now it's backfired!"
Joey quickly ran away, putting distance between himself and the orc.
"How can a male soldier shirk his duty like this? Where is your sense of honor?"
The orc raised his giant axe and berated Joey.
"I'm not a soldier. If I had to say, I'd say I'm a strategist. As for a sense of honor, how much does that cost per pound? I don't want to carry that much sense of honor on my corpse!"
Joey maintained his distance from the orc; with his agility, it was currently quite difficult for an orc to get close.
"As expected of cunning humans, they have no sense of honor. How can they fight on the battlefield?"
"Warfare is based on deception! Don't embarrass yourself with your level of military theory. I have a group of big shots backing me up!"
(No, it was me who memorized their books!)
I'm going to kill you!
"Come on, come on, only pigs can kill me, tribal pigs!"
Joey ran happily.
Suddenly he stopped and turned to look at the orc with a serious expression.
"You said you wanted to kill me?"
"Wait a minute, shouldn't your target be Catherine?"
Joey turned and looked back the way he came, and suddenly understood.
