"Big Beard!"
As soon as it was light, Joey pounded on the bearded man's door.
"What's wrong? What's wrong?"
The bearded man hurriedly flung open the door, thinking Joey had something important to tell him.
However, because he opened the door in a hurry, Joey saw the scene inside the room clearly. Two pale but very strong figures were leaning against the headboard, their hands pulling the blankets to cover their private parts, looking towards the door.
However, when their eyes met Joey's, they immediately looked away shyly, one of them even burrowing into the blankets without showing her head.
"Hey bearded guy, I didn't know you were so capable. You're pretty fancy!"
Joey made a joke about the bearded man, but it was actually more out of envy and jealousy.
“Uh…it’s Martha…no, no, it’s Lia herself…no, no, it’s me…”
The bearded man's dark face turned red, making him appear even darker.
"Alright, alright, no need to explain, I understand. I've been there too, even though it's been a long time!"
"Alright, you can go back now. If I disturbed you, please apologize to the two ladies for me!"
Not wanting to spoil the bearded man's good time, Joey finished speaking and prepared to leave.
"Joey, is something the matter?"
"It's nothing, I'm just going out for a walk!"
"Okay, then remember to call me if anything comes up!"
"Mmm!"
Joey waved his hand behind him without turning his head.
...
"This room should belong to Sergeant Medes!"
Joey muttered to himself and pounded on Sergeant Medes' door again.
Who is it?
The voice coming from behind the door wasn't Medes', but a sweet female voice.
"Oh, dear lady, I'm sorry, I knocked on the wrong door!"
After Joey finished speaking, he was about to leave, but he was also puzzled. This room was clearly Medes' room, so why was it occupied by a woman?
Are you looking for Medes?
The woman's voice came from behind the door again.
"Um?"
"Yes!"
Although Joey was puzzled, he still gave a positive reply.
"Then you didn't dial the wrong number, he's taking a shower!"
The woman continued speaking, but she did not open the door.
"Oh, oh, oh, I understand, I understand!"
Joey never expected that after running off to Ashforge, the two of them would find their own happiness, leaving him all alone.
"Please tell him that Joey came by and that he's been given a long vacation, so he doesn't need to worry about work!"
Joey is also an enlightened captain. Having experienced the life of a corporate slave in his previous life, he would not deliberately ruin Medes' good thing.
"I see. Okay, I'll tell him!"
The woman didn't speak again after she finished speaking, and her footsteps gradually faded away from the doorway.
Alright, all the brothers are living happy lives now, leaving Joey all alone.
"It seems that the life of having a cat, a dog, a wife, kids, and a warm bed is getting further and further away from me, but at least this dog hasn't been lost yet!"
Joey consoled herself and headed towards Digging's room.
"Bang bang bang!"
Joey knocked on WaWa's door.
Wawa originally insisted on living with Joey, but Joey was really uncomfortable having a kobold share a room with him, so he had to do some serious persuasion with Wawa before he finally agreed.
"Nobody here?"
Joey waited at the door for a while, but no one came to open it.
"Bang bang bang!"
Joey tightened his grip a bit more.
Still no one answered the door.
"Did WaWa go looking for women too?"
"No way? In that case, I'm really not convinced!"
Joey had no choice but to leave Digger's room and head outside.
Less than three minutes after he stepped outside, a guard's voice reached his ears.
"Please, this is the city lord's palace! You can't dig anymore, there's really nothing here!"
"Why don't you go somewhere else? You can dig anywhere outside the city!"
"Dig! Dig!"
It's unclear whether WaWa truly understood the guard's words, but he responded with a reply, though the guard couldn't understand what he meant at all.
It must have been tough on these guards. They're not very bright, and they must have been feeling really stifled in this castle. They finally found a spot to get back to their old ways, only to be interrupted by the guards. They must be feeling pretty bad.
These guards couldn't actually arrest Wawa, since the kobold had also contributed to sending him back to Catherine, and they wouldn't disobey the city lord's wishes.
"Dig!"
Joey shouted at Dig Dig, and he immediately turned around.
The guard tried to persuade him for a long time to no avail, but Joey's words made the kobold stop what he was doing and hop over to Joey.
"I'll take you out for some fresh air, so you don't get too cooped up!"
Joey felt a little embarrassed. This wag was a hardworking and conscientious employee who only asked for a full meal and didn't want any salary. He had earned a lot by helping her look after things. It was indeed a bit unfair to leave him here for so long.
"Dig! Dig!"
Wawa pulled out his specially made iron pickaxe and bounced around, seemingly quite in favor of Joey's suggestion.
Seeing Joey tell Dig Dig to leave, the guards breathed a sigh of relief. They had finally gotten rid of the dog-headed man and could rest for a while.
Joey never expected that the one who would truly "never abandon" her was WaWa.
Is this a team-building event for single people?
Joey felt inexplicably frustrated.
He walked toward the castle gate. Because he was too excited, he ran ahead of Joey. However, because he was not familiar with the way around the castle, he often turned around and couldn't see Joey before he hurriedly ran back. But he didn't seem tired and continued to do so until he and Joey walked out of Ashfurnace City and stood on a soft patch of soil outside the city.
"Alright, Dig Dig, I'm about to start my hunter training. You have to protect me and not let any bad guys get near me..."
Before Joey could finish speaking, Digger had already run towards a small hill in the distance, seemingly drawn by the minerals there.
"Hey, Guardian!"
"Hey, WaWa, you can't just leave me like this!"
Joey was a little annoyed. It seemed that having Wawa come out with him wasn't a good idea, as he would probably have to take care of him.
Now all he can do is hope that he can find a decent gem while digging, just to console himself.
"Wait for me, wait for me!"
Joey started walking and caught up with him.
