"Dig!"
Joey shouted towards the open field, but Digger had already disappeared. This was the only way he could call out to him.
However, his voice was like a stone thrown into the ocean, receiving no response whatsoever.
Well, the supposed team-building event for singles has turned into a one-person show, and Joey feels a little disappointed.
"So what should I do?"
Joey looked at the empty wilderness and didn't see any animals. Apart from the branches swaying in the wind, there was no sign of any other life.
“Catherine says she can become successful on her own, but I don’t feel like I’ve become successful at all!”
Feeling a bit bored, Joey casually picked up a blade of grass next to him, pulled it up with all his might, and uprooted it.
"Squeak squeak squeak..."
But just as Joey pulled the weeds out, a series of small animal cries came from below.
"Um?"
Joey looked down and saw a fat groundhog staring at him with its bean-sized eyes, looking angry.
"Why do I feel an urge to apologize to this fat rat?"
Joey thought he must be bewitched. He was a human being, the most intelligent of all beings. How could he have such a delusion that diminished his own status? Although this other world was very different from his previous life, it shouldn't be enough to make him sit on the same level as this fat rat, right?
"Fat rat, stop squeaking and get away!"
To assert his dignity as a human being, Joey made a ferocious face at the groundhog.
"You're the fat rat, your whole family are fat rats, I'm the groundhog, you bastard!"
A shrill voice reached Joey's ears, startling him so much that he took a few steps back.
"You, you, you..."
"What kind of talk is that?"
Although many things in this strange world were strange, Joey could accept them. She had read quite a few books and knew a lot about the wonders of this world. However, the idea of a fat rat talking to you was something Joey couldn't accept for a while.
"I can speak because I have a mouth, right? Can't your mouth speak too? You're really stupid."
What the fat rat said wasn't wrong; mouths are for eating and talking. However, rat language wasn't something Joey was good at, and the books he had read hadn't mentioned anything like this.
However, it was simply unacceptable for a fat rat to call me stupid.
"Hey, fat rat, don't you dare call me stupid, or I'll braise you!"
Joey thought having a rat feast would be pretty good.
"You...you can't eat me! You stole my lunch, and now you want to eat me?"
"Also, I told you I'm a groundhog, not a rat!"
The groundhog was frightened by Joey's threats, but also a little angry.
"I stole your lunch? I..."
Joey was about to give the groundhog another beating, but when she looked at the piece of wild grass she was holding, she instantly understood.
However, Qiao Yi couldn't bring herself to apologize to that fat rat.
"Fine, I won't argue with you. I'm magnanimous, you can leave now!"
After saying that, Joey threw the weeds in her hand at it and continued walking forward.
"..."
There were still rustling sounds coming from behind, but Joey couldn't make out what it was saying.
As you continue walking, the ground covered with weeds gradually decreases, and many of the weeds on the ground look as if they have been deliberately trampled down.
Joey didn't pay any attention and just kept walking forward.
"cluster!"
A dark figure suddenly darted out from in front and charged towards Joey.
Joey instinctively dodged, and the dark figure brushed past her clothes.
"What is that?"
Joey stopped, glanced in the direction of the dark figure, and said irritably.
"I'm worthless!"
A sound suddenly came from ahead, and the weeds there swayed again.
The dark figure turned back and rushed towards Joey again.
"Aren't you a thing?"
Joey leaped high into the air, dodging the shadowy figure once again. This time, however, he could see it clearly: it was just a wild boar with a pair of tusks, slightly larger in size, and indeed looked quite aggressive.
You're the one who's worthless!
The wild boar came to an abrupt stop, and the mud beneath its feet slid out a long ditch.
"Another talking wild boar?"
Joey was surprised that the wild boar in front of him could talk. It was truly amazing. He wondered if there was some earth-shattering secret about this land of Grayfurnace City, since the animals here were all unusual.
"You're the wild boar! I have a name and a surname!"
"Listen up, my name is Zhu Ganglie, Zhu Ganglie Gao!"
This wild boar, who called himself Zhu Ganglie, said this with a face full of pride.
"Zhu Ganglie Gao?"
As soon as Joey heard the name, he immediately thought of Journey to the West, which he had read in his previous life, and there was a friend in the story whose surname was Pig.
"Your name is Zhu Ganglie?"
"No, my name is Zhu Ganglie Gao!"
"high?"
"Yes, my surname is Gao!"
"You really succeeded in marrying into the family?"
"You're the one who married into the family! Your whole family married into the family!"
Upon hearing the term "marrying into another's family," Zhu Bajie was furious. It seems that marrying into another's family is not a respectable thing in this other world.
"Don't get excited, don't get excited, I was just saying it casually, I didn't mean anything by it!"
Joey didn't want to offend this Zhu Bajie. If he really did have the supernatural powers of Zhu Bajie from Journey to the West, Joey's own abilities were probably not even worthy of carrying his shoes.
