Two days later.
The news that Sam Blackrock, the dwarf, could get his hands on fine wine had already spread among the soldiers of Tiger Rock.
It was midnight.
The entrance to Joey's dormitory was already crowded with people.
"Is it really possible to get more beer tonight?"
"I heard Sam has already made the arrangements, and it'll definitely be delivered tonight!"
"I ordered rum, I wonder if you can get it delivered as promised?"
"..."
Although there were many people at the entrance, everyone was well-behaved and did not make a fuss. Even their voices were deliberately kept low.
They looked longingly towards the road leading to the dormitory.
As the bright, round moon once again emerged from the clouds in the night sky, several figures began to appear at the end of the road.
Each of them carried a wine barrel on their shoulder and hurriedly ran this way.
"They're here! They're here!"
There was a brief commotion among the crowd, but they all tacitly made way for the dormitory entrance.
Ten people carried ten barrels of wine into the dormitory. When the last one entered the dormitory, the path that had been cleared was immediately blocked by the crowd again.
"I'm sorry everyone, we only managed to get ten barrels this time. The quantity is limited, so in order for everyone to be able to enjoy the wine, we must share one barrel in groups of three. No one can keep it all to themselves!"
Following Joey's instructions, the bearded man shouted loudly towards the dormitory entrance.
"Okay, okay, okay!"
No one would object; everyone's stomachs were already rumbling with cravings for alcohol, and they just wanted to drink the fine wine as soon as possible.
"Then form groups of three, line up, and come over to pay!"
The bearded man brought out a barrel of wine and placed it at the entrance, allowing the crowd to form their own teams.
"This is the money for the three of us!"
The person at the front of the line threw a heavy money bag at the bearded man.
The bearded man took the money bag, weighed it in his hand, and smiled broadly.
"200 silver coins, that's right!"
He then pushed the barrel of wine in front of him forward.
The man didn't hesitate; he simply carried the bag on his back and left with the other two people.
Yes, you heard right, the price of wine has now doubled to 200 silver coins a barrel.
Hey, but don't think it's expensive. Even at this price, you still need to make an appointment in advance and wait in line to buy it!
The person who made the purchase might even thank you!
"It's our turn!"
"We ordered rum, I wonder if it has been delivered tonight?"
The man handed the money bag to the bearded man, looking expectant but unsure if he would get what he wanted.
"A barrel of rum!"
The bearded man shouted into the dormitory, and Joey came out rolling a barrel of liquor.
"This rum is a bit hard to get, and it would normally cost extra, but we're all family, so let's skip it this time!"
Joey casually suggested putting the barrel of liquor on the man's shoulder.
"Thank you so much, you two are such kind people!"
Joey waved at him in response.
...
After the ten barrels of liquor were distributed, the dormitory entrance returned to calm.
Under the moonlight, Joey and the bearded man carried 2,000 silver coins back to the "wine cellar," dug a deep pit next to it, and put the silver coins in.
I've earned so many silver coins these past few days, and keeping them in the dorm would be too conspicuous, so I'll just bury them here for now.
"Joey, we still have twenty-one barrels of wine left. We're really going to be rich!"
The bearded man stomped hard on the soil, then scattered some fallen leaves on it to create some camouflage.
"Same old rules, David and his crew get 100 silver coins a barrel of wine, while those outside the dormitory get 200 silver coins a barrel. We can't lose our core base; we need David and his crew to cover for us!"
Joey, looking like he had a lot of business sense, gave the bearded man a piece of advice.
"I'll do whatever you say!"
The bearded man couldn't be bothered to think about the intricacies involved; he just knew he had to follow Joey's lead.
"By the way, we need to sell all this wine in a couple of days and cash it out quickly. I reckon if we don't sell it soon, it'll be stuck with us!"
Joey walked back to the "wine cellar" location, stood on the pit where the wine was buried, and said solemnly.
"Are you in such a hurry?"
The bearded man was somewhat puzzled.
"Know when to quit while you're ahead. The orcs' attack should be imminent. By then, we won't even have time to run away, let alone run this wine business!"
Joey thought of the stock market in his past life. As a seasoned novice investor, he had paid his share of tuition fees in the stock market.
Sell as soon as a high point appears, otherwise you'll suddenly hit a trough and end up performing aerial acrobatics on the rooftop again.
"Oh, by the way, save me a bucket on the last day, I need it!"
After Joey finished speaking, he looked at the large silver disc in the sky, which did indeed resemble a silver coin of good quality.
Two more days passed.
It was still late at night.
The dormitory where the bearded man lived became lively again.
This time, the crowd didn't try to lower their voices; instead, they became unusually excited.
"David, I'm keeping these ten buckets for you. There really won't be any more after this!"
The bearded man ignored the noisy crowd at the door and instead showed David and the others all 20 barrels of wine under the bed.
"Okay, Sam, I knew you were reliable!"
Big Beard's "loyalty" has completely won over everyone in the dorm these past few days. Seeing that Big Beard has once again taken care of his dorm buddies, everyone is even more grateful to him.
"Alright, everyone quiet down. Due to the tense situation, tonight's ten barrels of wine will be auctioned off to ensure fairness. The highest bidder wins!"
The bearded man walked to the door and announced the rules for buying alcohol that night.
"How could this be?"
