"Oh no!"
Melder's expression darkened; he immediately became tense upon seeing Joey's condition.
He raised his staff, and powerful wind elemental energy surged towards Joey.
The magic enveloped Joey's entire body, attempting to pull him out of the green blood, but after several attempts, Melder had no choice but to give up.
"ah!!!"
Before Joey could even think about how to escape, excruciating pain shot through his entire body.
The skin, already covered in green blood, was rapidly rotting, and in no time there wasn't a single good piece of flesh left on Joey's body.
"What to do? What to do?"
Joey started to panic. This was the first time he had ever been so panicked since arriving in this other world. Although he had encountered danger a few times before, none of them were like this. This time, the danger made him feel powerless, and he truly felt that his life was threatened.
He now has millions of gold coins in his pocket, the noble lady Catherine, and three fair-skinned and beautiful elves waiting for him to reproduce. In this situation, he really can't think of any reason to die.
Joey was still thinking about how to escape, but for some reason, the Abyss Lord's giant hand stopped moving. The old sorcerer below looked even more worried, but he was already exhausted and couldn't use any more tricks. He could only hope that after enjoying Joey's soul, the Abyss Lord would capture Catherine and interrupt her spellcasting.
In just a few breaths, Joey felt a splitting headache again, as if his brain was being cut open and pulled out of his skull.
Meanwhile, Meld, who was watching from the sidelines, frowned deeply. He had seen Joey's soul emerge from the top of his head, and a silver-white head was peeling off his body and moving upwards.
Joey's pain had subsided, but he found himself floating in the air, his own body beneath his feet, now enveloped in dark green blood.
"Am I having an out-of-body experience?"
Joey's first thought was that he had achieved the state of astral projection described in the book of his past life. However, upon seeing the regretful expressions on Meld and Maragon's faces, he realized that his state was not a good one.
He tried to control his soul to move downwards and return to his body, but it was no use. His soul was gradually rising, heading towards the summoning gate of the Lord of the Abyss in the sky.
"Boom!!"
A thunderclap suddenly rang out.
Joey glanced to the side of the summoning gate. A storm seemed to be forming in the center of the black hole controlled by Catherine. Lightning flashed and thunder roared in the middle area, and a vortex-like thing was rapidly forming.
"It's a success!"
Melder's furrowed brows suddenly relaxed, and he looked excitedly at the black hole.
Catherine stopped at this moment, and as she looked at Joey in his spirit form, tears immediately streamed down her face.
“Joey Brown, hold on! Meld said that once my Gate of Expulsion appears, everyone who doesn’t belong to this world will be taken away by it—the orcs besieging Ashforge, and the Abyss Lord who has captured your soul—they will all be taken away by it!”
Catherine screamed at the top of her lungs, but the tears didn't stop at all.
"boom--"
The black hole exploded again, expanding more than a hundredfold in an instant, and the summoning gate, which was originally a size larger than it, suddenly became small.
Joey felt as if he had suddenly grasped a glimmer of hope, because he had seen hundreds of orcs on the beach and near Ashfury City being drawn by some force and flying toward the black hole.
"ah……"
All the orcs panicked. Even the most valiant warriors became extremely vulnerable in the face of this unknown and overwhelming power.
Both sides had ceased their attacks, and everyone was looking up at the black hole in the sky.
The orcs anxiously hoped they wouldn't be sucked into the sky, while the Alliance were astonished that this terrifying force belonged to their side.
The giant hand beneath Joey was also dragged toward the black hole. Although the giant hand was struggling and its speed was much slower, it was probably only a matter of time before it was sucked into the black hole.
But... something seems a little off. Joey's body is still on that giant hand. Although it has been severely corroded, Joey thinks that after washing it clean, it should still be usable.
What puzzled Joey even more was that his soul also drifted towards the black hole along with the giant hand.
Catherine noticed the problem too. She looked at Meld for help, but he just shook his head and looked away, as if trying to avoid Catherine's gaze.
More and more orcs were sucked into the sky, and quite a few were already being sucked into the black hole. As for whether they were really being taken back to their original world, that remains unknown.
Catherine's face grew increasingly grim, and her worry for Joey made her unconsciously move closer to the giant hand.
The giant hand seemed to sense Catherine's approach. It suddenly stopped its desperate resistance to the black hole's suction and lunged straight at Catherine.
"careful!"
"careful!"
"careful!"
Meld, Maragon, and Joey shouted in unison.
However, their warning came too late; the giant hand had already firmly grasped Catherine in its palm.
Dark green blood automatically gushed from the giant hand, instantly enveloping Catherine. The last thing Joey saw was Catherine's bright eyes, still wet with tears.
