Chapter 35: The Deal Was Settled

"Add some more. If it weren't for our brotherhood, I would have refused you outright!"

Charlie thought to himself that Joey was indeed a regular at buying and selling people. Thirty gold coins was the price he used to pay for the women he had trafficked. However, his father, the mayor, had said that the women in this house were no ordinary people, so he thought he should buy more gold coins.

Besides, if we don't stab this fake brother, who should we stab?

There's a saying that goes, "If you're a brother, come and fight me!"

"40 gold coins is a lot!"

Joey wasn't stupid. Since Charlie said so, it meant that the price was reasonable. Why spend more money when you can get things done for less?

He walked over to Charlie, patted him on the shoulder, and the two seemed to know each other well.

"50 gold coins? Add 10 more!"

"I think you haven't seen what she looks like. She's quite good-looking. Once you see her, you'll definitely feel that those 10 gold coins were well spent!"

After Charlie finished speaking, without waiting for Joey's reply, he ripped the cloth bag off Catherine's head.

At this moment, Catherine's eyes were exposed to light, so she could only close them tightly, but the tear stains at the corners of her eyes were still clearly visible.

Her mouth was stuffed full of a rag, and there was still blood at the corner of her mouth from the slap she had just received.

“Kai…”

After Catherine's hood was removed, the bearded man suddenly realized that the woman tied to the pillar was actually Catherine. He was about to shout when Joey turned around and looked at him, interrupting him.

"What did he say?"

Although the bearded man stopped shouting in time, Charlie noticed his unusual behavior and wondered what he hadn't finished saying.

"Oh, he's talking about 'brother,' calling me that. He must have taken a liking to this girl and wants me to buy her and give her to him!"

Joey hurriedly explained, and luckily the bearded man also snapped and stood there nodding frantically.

"Waaaaah..."

Catherine's eyesight has returned, but they are bloodshot.

She stared at Joey with wide eyes, her gaze filled with pleading.

This poor kid, why can't he cooperate? In this situation, does he have to become a relative?

To prevent Charlie from becoming suspicious, Joey ignored Catherine's pleading eyes and pulled Charlie directly behind a pillar.

Catherine tried her best to turn her head to look at Joey, but Joey was avoiding her, and Catherine, who was bound by the pillar, had no way to see Joey.

“Dear Charlie, you can see for yourself, this girl listened to everything we said, and now she’s probably clinging to me!”

"Fifty gold coins it is, what can I do when my silly little brother likes them too!"

Joey spoke very softly, and only Charlie could hear him.

After the commotion caused by the bearded man and Catherine, Charlie was a little confused. He wanted to raise the price further, but since he was the one who had asked for 50 gold coins, he didn't want to lose face, so he could only nod.

Fifty gold coins is quite a lot of money. Although this woman is a bit special, she is already 20 gold coins more expensive than those women. Cha Li felt relieved after thinking about this.

Joey didn't want to delay, lest something unexpected happen.

He took 50 gold coins from the money bag in his pocket and handed them to Charlie.

Charlie was as happy as a child, praising Joey as his best friend and sworn brother.

"Then I'll take this woman with me!"

Joey didn't want to spend any more time with this new brother; he just wanted to get away as soon as possible.

"Alright, you can take it with you now!"

Charlie had already given the order, and the six soldiers in the room, seeing that the transaction was complete, relaxed and gathered around the soldier eating jerky, joining him in eating as well.

Joey turned around and began to untie Catherine's ropes. Seeing this, the bearded man hurriedly ran over to help untie her.

Just as the bearded man was about to pull the rag out of Catherine's mouth, Joey stopped him. He didn't want to listen to this young lady's nagging now, in case she let something slip and all three of them would have to stay.

Joey untied the ropes binding Catherine to the pillar, but her hands and feet were still bound. He didn't intend to untie her now, but instead simply carried her on his shoulder, just like he had carried her out of the small manor in Tiger Stone before. Only then, Catherine was unconscious, but now she was awake and bound hand and foot.

"I'll be going now, brother!"

Joey greeted Charlie and headed for the door.

"We can't leave!"

The burly man who had been slapped by Charlie earlier stood in the doorway again, this time holding a large knife.

"this……"

Joey didn't argue with him, but turned to look at Charlie, who was still counting gold coins inside the house.

"You blind bastard, I think you've wasted your eyes!"

"Didn't you see that Joey and I had already completed the deal? I was the one who let him go, and you dare to stop him!"

Charlie tossed the uncounted gold coins into his pocket, rushed out in a few strides, and slapped the burly man across the other side of his face.

"But...but the mayor said this woman is different, we can't let her leave!"

The burly man thought he was in the right and stood still, showing no intention of giving way.

"I think you're tired of living!"

Charlie snatched the large knife from the burly man's hand and was about to swing it at the man in front of him, which frightened the burly man so much that he had to quickly move aside and run far away.

clang--

Seeing the burly man run away, Charlie threw his large knife to the ground.

He apologized to Joey for ruining his shopping experience, but Joey had no interest in arguing with him. He gave a perfunctory reply and then ran off with Catherine in his arms.
